Secluded - Pagoda Style Architectural Retreat "1 Week Sep Special" Sep 2nd-9th

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

To reach the pagoda treehouse you drive up the road and into a private drive chiseled through pines that leads to an architectural three-level house surrounded with sliding glass doors. Enclosed cedar decks allow for private sunbathing and entertaining. Large master suite has sunken jacuzzi and restful treetop views. Cozy/romantic all seasons with wood-stove in master bedroom and waking up looking out any time of year it is like a dream, the scrub pines, the oak, the birds fluttering by, this is why you are here for this bliss, the serenity of the treehouse in the woods.

There is a large brick fireplace in dining area ....which in the colder moments turns even a cheeseburger into a romantic affair.

The house is located on just under an acre of lush scrub pine woods. When you're inside the house and look out you feel as if you're sitting inside this incredible natural world surrounded by myriad shades of green. Hours can be spent on the dining deck suspended in the lush Truro nature.

You can't see the beach or the sunset but you don't have the sounds of endless people walking up and down your path.

Instead you feel as if you've landed in your own private retreat ...a place designed for meditation, contemplation and delicious inspired forms of creativity that the treehouse delivers.

The sprawling bay beach is just under a half mile from the house but it's an easy walk which usually takes about ten minutes. There is a bike rack so if you prefer biking you'll get there in about five minutes. (Car two minutes)

One of the best features of the house allows you to never step foot in your car if you choose not to as the house is walking distance to a farm, fish market, and liquor store, and in the other direction a cafe with great capuccino and pizza. Next to the fish market, there's a shop which will provide healthy wrap sandwiches for your beach picnic.

The architect Charlie Zehnder who designed the house, while inspired by asian temples and pagodas, gave great thought to the concept of privacy for vacationers. For this reason, the bedrooms on the first floor (each with a double bed) are separated from the master bedroom suite (with a queen sized bed) by an open living/dining/kitchen area on the second floor.

All of the surrounding decks are enclosed no need to worry about taking your suit off.

The bathrooms and kitchens all have hand made tiles from Mexico and France, the living area and kitchen sports bookcases for tenants to enjoy...its a pretty varied collection: poetry, fiction, history, travel, cookbooks, and mysteries from tenants past stays.

Longnook ocean beach, which many believe to be the most beautiful beach in the world is a scenic five minute drive from the house. For a long stroll you cannot beat this beach, and I've walked beaches around the world, it's hard to beat Longnook beach for it's sheer expanse, surrounded by dunes, with only the gulls as company, thanks to the National Seashore which has kept this beach pristine.

A short drive from the house three hidden ponds with surprisingly warm water as early as May.

Sunrise views from the living room, decks, and master suite make waking up a delight. You almost do feel the infinite horizon of possibility.

The bathroom in the master bedroom was the dream bathroom of the architect Charlie Zehnder who believed bathrooms should be sumptuous: so you can lie back in the jacuzzi oversized tub and the vista in one direction is the treetops with birds fluttering by and in the other tub direction you face yourself before the mirrored wall.

He had celadon green tiles surround the tub so it might feel natural and insisted only real wood beam moldings even around the light.

About Carole Wolf

I went for a walk on the beach in Truro and fell in love with Truro and after traveling all over the world, I'm positive this is the most beautiful spot, and year after year, there's something new to explore in this vast natural world.

Carole Wolf purchased this house in 1990

Why Carole Wolf chose Cape Cod

I bought a house in Truro because I think it has the best beaches in the world, and I wanted privacy-thus I chose an acre in the woods. But really it was because a friend said everyone should have s spot in the world that speaks to them.

What makes this house unique

Bird watching is wonderful most times of the year, and they sing in a multitude of tongues.

If you're looking for a dog friendly house, this is the place for you! It's close to bay beaches, National Seashore beaches and nature trails. The decks are snuggled among the tree tops for those who want a more leisurely life style. The out door

grill made eating in a snap or you can buy steamed lobsters to bring home while still warm. A definite A++ rating from a family who has vacationed on the Cape for years.

Quiet Comfortable Tree House in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house. It is a three level home. The first floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom. The second has a dining room, kitchen and living room with a large television. The third has a large master bedroom with a shower/jacuzzi and a second television. We lived on the second and third floors which are situated in a surrounding forest. The place is indeed a quiet, comfortable, and beautiful retreat. Importantly, it is well located with easy access to beaches, restaurants, and nearby places to get newspapers, baked goods, sandwiches, pizza, fresh fish, ice cream, wine, and household goods.

Truro is sparsely populated and beautiful. When you want to leave your retreat, it is a short trip to the joy, bustle, and excitement of Provincetown.

  • 4 of 5

The house is amazing, relaxed feel yet all the comforts you need. We loved the

the house's character/bones.

The property was clean and comfortable.

Owner returned my questions right away.

I'd recommend this to house to those that love the Cape, it's a true reflection of the Outer Cape.

It was close to the beaches we love & to night life.

Wow!! Amazing house!

  • 5 of 5

What a find!!! My family and I enjoyed a wonderful holiday this summer in the Truro Pagoda, and we have already booked our summer vacation there for 2016. What a special and unique house! I have traveled extensively, and this is definitely my favorite spot, and as for the Pagoda---we all can't wait to return. The setting is peaceful and the house is surrounded by a pine forest. Inside, it is bright and cheery with an open feel---lots of windows. The wrap around decks provide lots of space for eating a leisurely breakfast or relaxing with a good book after a full day exploring the beach, biking trails, or hiking in the magical dunes. Truro is also peaceful and perfect for nature lovers, with many gorgeous preserved bay and ocean beaches. We feel so lucky to have found such an amazing place for our yearly get away. My kids are often talking about it, and writing stories about their adventures there. The bay beach is a short walk, drive, or jog away, and we appreciated being able to swim in the warm water (without a westsuit like we need in San Francisco). It is truly a unique place, and we are grateful to have discovered the Truro Pagoda. Thanks.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Back for the 5th time, our stay was lovely, as always. It's like coming home now and we look forward to our home away from home. The proprietor is so wonderful to work with and we love her place in the woods. It's great to be far from the maddening crowds that can flood Cape Cod. With a place for pastries, coffee, pizza and the paper in walking distance, fresh fish a short drive and a new stationary goods store now...we are in heaven. I suppose I should mention the lovely beach within a 15 minute walk many nights of stunning sunsets. I won't say anything more...don't want our favorite place to get too popular.

Great Stay

  • 4 of 5

We Had a great stay in this house. It was clean and the atmosphere in the wooded area was very private. Some things were in walking distance but it was just a short drive to anywhere else. My In-laws rediscovered the beauty and old haunts of Cape Cod after being away for about 30 years. We had a great time and even Rufus did as well.

The house is nestled in just under an acre of pine woods.

Decks are enclosed for privacy. A great place to relax and watch birds, but if you want to take a stroll here's what you can easily walk to: the bay in one direction (10 minutes) in the other direction, a farm, fish market, or cafe with great capucino and pizza, a bistro restaurant with luscious takeout. If you like to bike, you can cross Route Six and bike to a wonderful trail overlooking the dunes.

A short drive from the house, wonderful hidden ponds with deliciously warm water.

Superb sunrise views from the living room, decks, and master bedroom.

It is one of the last houses designed by the renowned Wellfleet architect Charlie Zehnder.
