Completely renovated 2 bedroom/2 bath 1256 sq ft. within a stone's throw to the Pacific Ocean! When you enter the unit you will be taken back by the breath-taking unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. Open the patio door and immediately feel the ocean breeze from the trade winds and smell the fresh salt-water air! The next morning you will awaken to the warm glow of sunrise. You can sit on the lanai with your first cup of coffee and enjoy the boat traffic from the river right next to the building. You are also located right on the walking/bike path called Ke Ala Hele Makalae ('the path that goes by the coast') that will eventually go from Nawiliwili to Anahola. During season you will see whales breaching from your lanai. You now know what paradise feels like.

The condo is on the 1st floor in Building A unit 101 at the Pono Kai Resort, within steps of the ocean. You will be lulled to sleep in the master bedroom with the gentle sound of the ocean surf. Portable Air Conditioning Unit for your comfort in the bedrooms at night during the summer months.The unit is now fully updated: a new kitchen with granite counter-tops/new cooktop self-cleaning oven, full size microwave oven, tons of cabinet space and more. There are new marble floors/walk-in marble shower in the master bath & a new deep soaking tub in the guest bath. There all new window coverings and a hotel bed concept where all linens are laundered between guests!. A complete new tropical designed furniture package has arrived! It features a full size washer/dryer in the unit, which is an unusual feature on-site. There is FREE wireless WI-FI service in the unit. There are amenities galore to lighten your luggage weight. Large beach towels/beach chairs/cooler/hair dryers/shampoo, conditioner, shower gel dispenser in the shower are all provided. The kitchen is fully equipped, you will not need to worry about running out and buying that essential item to cook with. Enjoy your first pot of complimentary coffee, and if you plan on cooking spices are available.

You will find your condo in the Beautiful Pono Kai Resort with 12 acres of meticulously manicured grounds in addition to koi ponds and amenities listed below. It is in the historic town of Kapaa, centrally located on the East Side of Kauai, it is convenient to all of the Garden Isle attractions, only 15 minutes from Lihue Airport and walking distance from many restaurants, grocery, and fun shops and stores.

The resort itself provides free parking and the parking for the 'A' building is right out front. For your convenience the front desk is open 24 hrs and there is an activities desk in the lobby so you can arrange your island adventures.

I require a minimum age of 25 years or older to rent. Proof of age may be requested at time of rental. Children accompanied with parents are fine.

I live here year round and I also live in Kapaa. Kapaa is a real local town with very friendly residents and with more of a laid back feeling than other areas of the Island.

This a very centrally located resort, you will arrive at your sightseeing destination within 45 minutes of car travel, excluding Waimea canyon and the west side which takes about 1 hour 15 mins. Pono Kai is a well maintained and respected resort condo complex with years of operating experience. It is located right in the heart of charming Kapaa town, with restaurants and shopping within one block.

Great property and location for the value!

This is the second time we have stayed at this rental and Susan is very easy and efficient to deal with. She helped us out when we locked ourselves out of the safe and was quick to make herself available for anything we needed.

The unit is clean, has been updated and has everything you could ask for, including kitchen items and a great selection of swimming and beach toys/boogie boards. The beds are comfy and it's nice to find two singles so kids can have their own space. We loved having a washer and dryer - only one suggestion- maybe a drying rack?

The building is being renovated but we were warned of this beforehand and while workers were around it didn't really cause an issue. We enjoyed the window air conditioning units this time!

Pono Kai is close to both south and north parts of the island and so many shops and hiking spots. The beach path is so beautiful and what a joy to step outside your door and have it right there. The east side of the island is definitely more of a local part of the island, and we did find that we had to get used to some of the characters that we saw. Example: random ukulele player roaming the Safeway lot wandering near barefoot, that type of thing. However, we found that at nearly every beach at any part of the island and they ignored us. There is security at Pono Kai as well as window alarms.

We have rented many times on vrbo and this is the first time we have made a 'repeat' stay at a condo. Kauai is a special place and thanks to Susan and her condo for helping us to have two special holidays!

Pool-amazing, clean, grounds-beautiful gardens, BBQ's - beyond repair need replacement

This was our first VRBO rental. We typically travel to all inclusive resorts because we don't want the hassle of cooking meals and clean up. There were plenty of great places to eat within walking distance and the kitchen was so well set up cooking meals and clean up weren't as painful as I thought it would be. The condo was well maintained and clean, the owner has gone way beyond the call of duty to assure we had everything we needed. The beds and pillows were super comfortable felt like home. The kitchen had everything we needed from pots and pans to Tupperware to blender and toaster. At one point the blender stopped working and the owner replaced it the next day. There was no air conditioning but with open windows you get a nice breeze off the ocean. There was a portable AC to cool the master bedroom which worked well but was way to noisy to keep on while we slept. The location is superb, Kappa is very centrally located between the north and south ends of the island. There is a great walking path along the ocean. Grocery stores were within walking distance and there were plenty of shops to browse thru. The only glitch was the BBQ's on the property. There were only a few that were working and therefore there was always a wait to BBQ. The property would benefit from new BBQ's. Overall it was an amazing experience and would rent from the owner again.

We loved everything about our stay at Susan's unit A101 at Pono Kai! Everything about the unit was as promised. The ocean and bike/walking trail just outside our door made our visit even more enjoyable. We enjoyed our experience so much that we booked again for next year. mahalo, Susan!

Great stay

This was our 11th Christmas in Hawaii, and Susan's condo stands out as one of the best experiences we have had. The location was perfect; being able to walk out to the beach or in to town made it easy for us to get around without having to drive everywhere. As other reviewer's have noted, the condo is stocked with pretty much everything you can think of - we cook most meals in so having a well equipped kitchen is a definite plus for me. Using rosemary, chives and basil growing in the herb garden, along with finding olive oil and such in the condo made our grocery bill somewhat smaller.

I also appreciated the heated pool - even in Hawaii, an unheated pool is too cold for me! My husband liked to walk the path along the beach every morning, while our two teenage kids played tennis and used the pool and hot tub a number of times - it was nice having those amenities on site, to fill in the times we weren't out adventuring around the island. All in all a great place to stay!

Heart of old Kapaa town is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, farmer's market on Wednesday, art walks, craft fairs and local festivals monthly. 4 large grocery stores are within 1 mile of the area.
