Casual, affordable and oh so conveniently located, Nifty Thrifty is the answer for singles, couples and small families seeking elbow room on a visit to fun and funky Eugene. Park the car in the attached garage: Around the corner (29th and Willamette) you’ll find a gourmet market, and a variety of restaurants and shops. Bring a bike or take advantage of the two bus lines that are just steps from your door – either way, you’re within minutes of Fifth Street Market, the Hult Center, Saturday Market, the University of Oregon campus and Hayward Field, or Autzen Stadium. It’s only 20 minutes by car to the Lorane Valley wine country, less than 60 to the whitewater beauty of the McKenzie River, and less than 90 to hike or ski the Cascades. Nothing’s out of reach from this location!
The one-story 1950s-vintage house features two bedrooms, a full bath, hardwood floors, a fireplace, a private fenced and landscaped backyard (roses!) and a laundry. The full-sized kitchen is equipped with all the appliances you’ll need to pull together breakfast at the dinette or serve dinner in the dining room. If there’s business on your schedule, there’s a workstation in the master bedroom and WiFi throughout the house. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, friendly, and eclectic. You might hear the neighbor’s chickens softly clucking now and then, but don’t worry – no roosters!
Said a recent guest: 'Nifty Thrifty was the perfect choice...ideally located, close to shopping, public transit, the university, and Amazon Park with its bicycle & running trails, children's playground and a great dog park. The home is spotless with all the extras one could need, even a garage for the car. The back yard was perfect for our pooches, completely fenced with plants and lawn and a small patio with a table and chairs. The neighborhood is extremely quiet with very little traffic other than the local residents. All in all, we couldn't have been more pleased...and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a vacation rental in Eugene.'
• Queen-sized bed in the master bedroom.
• Full-sized bed in the second bedroom.
• Sofa-sleeper (queen) in the living room.
• Air bed and cot available for child use, with special owner permission.
• The house is ramp-equipped for handicapped access, though not all interior doorways are accessible.
• All linens and most cooking supplies are provided.
• Quiet dogs are welcome with owner permission.

About Ellen W.
With my husband and two teenage children, I've traveled the world -- always on a budget, preferring to spend my money on interesting locations and new experiences instead of luxurious lodging. Best Bargain Ever
Our stay here proved to be wonderful. Clean, well appointed, near restaurants, safe neighborhood, etc., etc. I honestly can't think of a negative. Look for yourself...there is not a better deal around Eugene than this home. Ellen was very helpful and gracious. This is now our go to VRBO when visiting our son in Eugene. You will not be disappointed.
Nifty Thifty is just perfect!
Great place to stay. Neat as a pin! Owner lives very close and greets you and shows you around personally. Kitchen is very well stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal. Seating for 4 for dinner. Computer access and TV are great! Neighborhood near most staples that one might need -- good restaurants, Office Max, grocery store, great Thai restaurant, etc. Darling back yard. Garage. W/D. She is very accepting of pets as long as you are respectful and wipe feet and put provided covers on furniture. My dog loved it there. Good walking neighborhood too.
Thanks so much for your review! You captured so many of Nifty Thrifty's attributes! Tiny clarification: The dining room table has four chairs and a bench that seats two. The kitchen table seats four. Hope we'll see you again sometime soon! --Ellen
Nice & Comfortable
We enjoyed our stay even though we had to cut it short. The back yard was great for our "MAX". The location was great and the house has everything a person could ask for. We will definitely recommend it to friends and family.
This is why I don't stay in hotels any more
Nifty Thrifty is exactly why I no longer stay in hotels - it was super quiet, comfortable, easy, and has a kitchen. Ellen was extremely easy to work with and she was as flexible as she could be with our uncertain schedule. We only stayed one night, but I would definitely return! Highly recommend.
Thanks so much for the review! By all means, let's do this again sometime!! --Ellen
Comfortable home, quiet neighborhood and convenient location.
When visiting cities for possible places to retire, the goal of our stay in Eugene was live like residents in a comfortable home in a quiet neighborhood. Having a garage and backyard were added perks. Nifty Thrify is walking distance to restaurants and stores including Market of Choice. Short walk to the separate (large and small breed) dog parks at Amazon Park was a bonus! Ten minute drive to downtown.
Thanks, John! I'm glad to hear that the house suited your needs so well! You were great guests! For those who may read this, I'll note that the distance from Nifty Thrifty to downtown (mapped to the Hult Center for the Performing Arts) is 2.1 miles, from 29th Avenue S. to 7th Avenue S. The time it takes to drive it owes to stoplights, not distance. --Ellen
OLD GUY REUNION
Three old guys who served in the USAF 55 years ago wanted to visit an old AF buddy in Eugene who has cancer so we rented Nifty Thrifty for a few days. The house was perfect for us and we plan to return in the near future.
