LOlivier sits at the end of a long palm and olive tree lined driveway. As you enter the villas courtyard, the sea is straight ahead of you, setting the stage for a very dramatic, romantic French Caribbean villa. From a commanding spot atop a hill, you are surrounded by a stunning 230 degree, panoramic view overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea, the vast blue sky, Anguilla, Plum Bay Beach and all the way to the middle of Long Bay Beach. It is magnificent from sunrise to sunset, especially from the large gazebo that sits at the edge of the villas terrace.
The villas layout creates a sense of relaxed privacy. Enclosed and open spaces draw you into the villa, cocooning you in a feeling of outside yet inside. Wooden doors and shutter, terracotta floors, native stone and beautiful planting create a tropical feel.
The entrance is a deep open covered terrace that contains dining and lounging seating. To the left is an enclosed, well equipped kitchen in modern Provence style. Upscale appliances and a beautiful view delight the chef. To the right is a large living room, an airy and spacious room decorated in teak, rattan and faux painted walls accented with white and black fabrics. A gazebo sits off the living room.
The terrace, in terracotta and epi wood, extends the length of the villa providing covered and open spaces. Plant filled native stones edge the turquoise pool at the edge of the terrace. Stylish furniture, in a South of France mood, provides comfortable seating in blue and white fabrics.
Four of the five bedrooms are pool level; the fifth is in a casita down a short flight of stairs. The upper level bedrooms sit at the end of the terrace; two on each side. The dcor is stylishly pretty and airy. The romantic master, with private terrace, has high dark wood ceilings, faux painted walls, white and blue fabrics and teak furniture. Three equal sized bedrooms have a similar style; white fabrics touched with color blend with charming art, teak, wicker and painted furniture. Each en-suite bathroom features Provence tiles, dark woods and walk in showers. Several have sea or garden views. The fifth bedroom is an apartment on the lower level. The large space has a living room, private terrace with an amazing view, spacious bedroom and elegant bathroom.
You are well located. The fabulous food scene in Baie Nettle is a few minutes drive while it is only 8 minutes to Marigot, with its shops, restaurants, markets and galleries. 10 minutes in the opposite direction and you find yourself at the International airport or the nightlife of Maho. Grand Case and its fine dining is only 30 minutes by car and same for the duty-free shopping of Philipsburg.

We were 2 families - 3 children each aged from 11 to 18. The accommodations were perfect. The Master suite was very comfortable - stunning bathroom, our guests got to have the private cottage below with their own living area. The secret Pagoda down by the water was an exciting find, and all our group enjoyed having cocktails down there. Look for the lights, took us a day to find them - stair lights up at the top of the stairs and the pagoda lights as you enter the pagoda, on the right pillar. We never once sat in the living room, our favorite gathering spot was the semicircle seating with the views. Kitchen was great, although we used it very little. We made breakfast the first morning, and then discovered the amazing patisserie, just down the road, opposite Mezza Luna. The Villa is huge and so private, views are amazing, only one thing I would wish was that the pool was heated - it was just never warm enough that we wanted to go in, that was a shame. But otherwise amazing!
Our stay at L'Olivier in St. Martin's was everything we expected plus the Heineken Regatta viewed from our villa terrace as well! We had a wonderful time there with our grown kids and experienced almost all of St. Martin's following the recommendations of our on site manager. The island has much to offer in the way of good shopping, beaches and excellent restaurants which we thoroughly enjoyed. Luxury Retreats made it very easy for us and fulfilled all of our requests. We would be glad to work with them again to find a suitable accommodation for our next villa vacation.
L'Olivier definitely has the wow factor with the outdoor living space and view. This is the best feature of the villa. The villa is well located in a gated and well maintained area. We did a lot of cooking and found that all of the kitchen basics are there. A few more wine glasses would be helpful. Housekeeper Pamela keeps the villa clean and makes sure you have all of the necessities. We traveled with another couple who used the master bedroom as their base. We used the cottage as our sleeping area and were pleased with the ambiance and charm of it. The cottage is well air conditioned and comfortably furnished. Our only feedback would be that it has limited hot water, uncomfortable pillows and no outlets in the bathroom. These are small items and did not take away from our enjoyment but things that could be improved upon.
This home was very spacious and allowed all ten of us to hangout together and also have our own space due to the rooms being so split a part. The views were breathtaking. I really liked the way luxury retreats kept me informed along the way and the concierge communication was outstanding. Our maid service was very nice and very thorough. Her name was Pamela we all liked her. She was very friendly.
