First visiting The Great Smoky Mountains around 1956, as an eight year old I could have never envisioned actually living close by. Now over 40 years later, my husband and I are the owners of a wonderful second home in Maggie Valley and regular visitors to the park. The photo to the left highlights Waterrock Knob just a short ride from Mystic Mountain to this spectacular sunset on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Born in North Carolina, I have always had a love of this wonderful state. Once we visited Maggie the first time as a family we couldn't imagine a better place to have a second home. Maggie and the surrounding area have everything available to us that we enjoy doing, hiking, fishing, antiquing to name a few. My son and daughter, now adults, love to get away from it all at the cabin, one of the most peaceful places in our lives.
We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation! Enjoyed the cabin, especially the porch- we enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders and even a little chipmunk cane to eat the seeds the birds dropped! Beautiful weather - sunny days and very cool nights - Joey's was great as always. The cabin was so well equipped. We ate in most of the time. You have a very homey place. - thanks for sharing!
We pulled up about 4:30 pm and was just blown away
by the views, we took to the rocking chairs on the porch just to breathe in the fresh crisp air and listen to nature. The birds are are out and talking and animals are scurring
Well, we must unpack car & the cabin inside is just as beautiful outside. The skylights are awesome looking @ stars all night. The first am there we had snow and must
build fire can not wait to go back to Mystic Mtn have already told all our friends.
My husband and I spent part of our 1st wedding anniversary at Mystic Mountain from June 28th-30th, 2016. We had a wonderful time at the house and around Maggie Valley, North Carolina. We spent part of our time in Arkansas and Tennessee before arriving in North Carolina and I wish we would have planned the whole trip for Maggie Valley, NC. The area is breathtakingly beautiful.
The house is very secure, comfortable, clean and in a great location surrounded by trees with a small stream nearby, a very peaceful setting. There is a view of the mountaintop from the front deck. The master bedroom is a good size and so comfortable. Everything you could possibly need is in the house, from dishes, pots, seasonings, BBQ grill, blender, etc. Donna and Mark were just a phone call away if we needed anything. Donna recommended breakfast at Joey’s Pancake House and we are so glad we went, it was delicious. Our stay couldn’t have been more comfortable or enjoyable and we look forward to going again.

There were 4 of us that stayed at Mystic Mountain. The house was very clean and was everything we needed. We loved sitting out on the porch on the rocking chairs. It is close to Maggie Valley and enjoyed eating at the local restaurants. We rode our motorcycles during the day and relaxed at night. There was room in the driveway for truck, 2 motorcycles and the trailer that we hauled the motorcycles on. It is a nice private area.
It was a little adjustment to get use to the very sharp turn right to get into the drive way with the truck. We used the loop with our motorcycles for easier entry into the driveway.
We were very glad it was black top all the way to the house and driveway. We really enjoyed our stay there, our last night it rained. Loved sitting out on the porch listening to the rain, very peaceful.
Would recommend Mystic Mountain!
My husband and I spent a week at the Mystic Mountain and we had a wonderful time. The location is perfect because although it is in a mountain it is not that far up and the driveway is easy to get in and out of. We were fortunate not to have snow but and the weather was quite warm for the period of the year so we enjoyed the outdoors and hiked in the neighborhood.
Mystic Mountain is a cozy home with nice size rooms and a very large master bedroom and king size bed. The house is well equipped and has a nice outside porch. Everything was well stocked for us when we arrived and clean. We will definitely come back for another visit!
Our stay was great. The home was so pretty and comfortable. would love to return some day.
The cabin was just as it was advertised, very clean and well kept. All the listed amenities and more were there for us, even charcoal for the grill and bird seed for the feeders. I loved that there was a filled hummingbird feeder hanging on the porch and hummingbirds came there several times each day. Unfortunately, it rained all day, every day we were there, but that didn't stop us from driving to various sites around the area. We went to Cades Cove, Clingman’s Dome and at the Cherokee Reservation we saw at least 30 elk near the road and were able to stop and take pictures! Our favorite place to eat breakfast was Joey's Pancake House, delicious, friendly and accommodating. The leaves were just beginning to turn at the time we were there. This was our first time renting a cabin in the mountains, and the owner provided very good and prompt customer service. We would recommend this rental to friends/family and plan on returning again.
