I worked in the hotel industry for many years here in the Berkshires, I learned from my experience what guests wish for and expect while away from home, I always dreamed of owning a vacation home in which I could meet the guests expectations. I as the homeowner care for the interior solely in this home, I take great pride in the cleaniness and decor of this beautiful house.
Kate Cowan purchased this house in 2009
As many guests have said 'This is a hidden Gem in the Berkshires'
Our family of 2 adults, 3 kids and 2 dogs just returned from a long weekend stay at this house. We had an amazing time! The house is wonderful, clean, well-equipped. It has a large yard, away from the road so we could all play soccer and frisbee. The house had bikes, which enabled us to take a long bike ride along the rail trail (which was lots of fun). We used the fire pit to roast s'mores and there is a great bbq as well. Kate and her husband were outstanding hosts. The temperature rose very high on one of the days and Kate's husband came to install ACs without us even asking. The house has a great wi-fi and TV with DISH (although we minimized our use of electronics). The house is very conveniently located about 10 mins from Jiminy Peak, Pittsfield and other attractions. Highly recommend!
Kate was so accommodating and friendly, not to mention the house was absolutely beautiful and ready to be stayed in. My fiance's family came to visit from Brooklyn, NY and we just didn't have enough room in our small apartment. We decided last minute to rent a house and Kate was able to accommodate them within two days notice. The house was super cozy, nice and warm, and slept everyone comfortably. She relieved a lot of stress for us that weekend and we cannot thank her enough. We will DEFINITELY be renting her home again. What a perfect visit :).
We really enjoyed staying at this cozy, beautifully decorated home. Kate was so kind and helpful to us. It was an easy drive to Jiminy Peak. Thanks!
This very well kept property and highly responsive owner made this a great weekend getaway! Would recommend to anyone!
House was beautiful and very comfortable to stay in. Owner Kate was very friendly and responsive. Very close to the lake and jiminy peak for skiing. I would highly recommend anyone to stay in this house. Had a wonderful time during are stay there.
With hotel options few and far between in the N. Berkshires, this property is a true bargain and gem. House is as advertised, very comfortable and very well maintained. The local owner is friendly and responsive but not invasive. If you are attending business meetings in the area or visiting family, use this place. Much better than any of the area B & Bs. A few minor hints (not complaints) to enjoy it: the main loft bedroom gets early light due to skylight and no curtains so consider eyemasks and ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The other two bedrooms are like caves so put light sleepers there. Oddly, Adams and Cheshire still don't have any decent breakfast places so stock up on your way in- the open kitchen and deck are great for coffee and sitting. Otherwise, the Lanesboro market and Bob's Country Kitchen are your best bets unless you go 20 min into Pittsfield. Red Carpet, Big Y and DD next choices in Adams. Never had a decent meal at the places in Cheshire and the liquor store is like a flashback to a Simpsons episode. The Forge in Lanesboro closest lunch/dinner spot but consider off hours cuz can get packed. The rail trail runs along the other side of the lake to the south and towards Adams along a stunning river corridor once you get past the center of Cheshire, but you will need to watch kids/carefully navigate 1/4 mi each of Lanesboro rd and Rt 8 without sidewalks to get there. We look forward to staying here again.
