Antique shop, bike, hike or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery and numerous wildlife. Bird watching is also popular.
We also have a smokehouse which is great for all kinds of food. Our dining room table seats 16 comfortably and makes for memorable, candlelight celebrations.
Specially designed lighting throughout the house makes it very romantic. A massage therapy center will come to the lodge for your spa massage. Rained the entire weekend at Spirit Dancer but our family had the very best weekend in years! Great fun in a spectacular house. Watched deer feeding and a mother black bear and her two yearling cubs in the meadow directly below the cabin. We will be back and it should be even better with a little sun.
The only reason I'm hesitant to give Spirit Dancer a great review is because I don't want anyone else to know how fantastic this place is. I went in mid November with a group of friends for my birthday party, and we were all blown away by the facilities and surroundings. The lodge is a home -- it shows in the quality of the furnishings and decorations, and the kitchen is impressively equipped. Sliding into the outdoor hot tub after a morning hike up White Oak Canyon is a pleasure not to be missed. Arrangements with Geri were smooth and trouble free. Can't wait to go back!
What an unforgettable weekend! To begin, it was extremely easy and convenient to communicate with Geri and figure out all the arrangements for this cabin. The pictures depict the house very well, but the house is even more amazing than the pictures! There is so much to see, the home decor is intriguing and there is so much space! The house is fully equipped with everything you could need for a weekend getaway. The deck is huge and spacious and the hot tube is a perfect touch. The basement, huge, and includes a hockey table, huge TV to just sit back and relax. The kitchen is so fun to cook in and has all the necessary tools you can think of needing. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I went with a few of my friends for my birthday and it was honestly one that I will never forget! Thank you Geri for supplying such a good energy, spectacular place for us to stay!
An amazing lodge with tons of space. Plenty of room to spread out and relax, hang out with friends and family, or retreat to one of the many beautiful bedrooms, deck, hot tub, etc., to read a book, or just "veg out" and do nothing at all. Not far from DC but yet you feel like you're a million miles from the traffic and congestion. Very nice wineries nearby, as well.
What a relaxing and beautiful place for a weekend getaway! My family and I enjoyed the wineries nearby and cooking gourmet meals in the wonderful kitchen. Not too far from where we live but seemed like we were in a different world. Great escape from the big city!
This house is amazing. To begin with, the setting is superb - at the foot of Old Rag Mountain, but high enough for a bird's eye view across the gorgeous valley. I wish I could be there when it snows. I bet it's a paradise.
Inside the house, I found myself wandering from wall to wall, table to table, just blown away by the beautiful artifacts, the gorgeous art - even the tabletops and furniture are amazing. Every piece is hand chosen and many clearly custom made or customized specifically for this house. I came here for R&R, kind of as a basis for good hikes - but the house made me want to just stay in the house all the time.
I loved cooking in the kitchen. It had everything I needed for the cooking I had planned - plus I found tons of kitchen equipment I didn't use, but gave me ideas about what to cook NEXT time I come here. Stuff is tucked away all over the place - it was part of the fun to poke around and find all the treasures. Don't miss that part!
The fireplace on the main floor is nothing short of spectacular - two floors high, all raw stone, it stands in the center of the room, angled up against the open stairway to the third floor loft. It's a work of art all by itself.
The bedrooms are all different, each with its own theme, and there's plenty of extra sleeping space scattered around - the leather sofa on the bottom floor in front of the huge widescreen TV was the site of more than a few very snuggly catnaps for me, and I've have spent the night on it happily had the need arisen.
Sitting in the hot tub at night, looking up at the stars -- there are so many stars there! - was magical. I had a glass of wine from a bottle I'd purchased at a winery close by, and just relaxed, soaking in the sounds of night in the woods. The perfect end to a day of rugged hiking up Old Rag, which is right in the back yard! Great exercise and great muscle soothing. Oh, and there's a sauna, in case the exquisite hot tub experience isn't enough.
I could go on, but just know - I'll be back. This just became my favorite place on earth.
We had a wonderful time at Spirit Dancer on our four day stay. The views are breathtaking and we loved the nearby hiking and also the hiking right on the property. My husband caught a six pound catfish in the pond. The kids played in the creek on the property trail and enjoyed rambling in the woods and built a fort from fallen limbs. As for the house, it is a treat to wander around and see the extraordinary decor and both kids loved the Native American artifacts.
The owners were extremely co-operative and called to make sure everything was OK. We HIGHLY recommend Spirit Dancer; it is a unique place, relaxing, beautiful and we look forward to another stay as soon as possible.
