About The Owner

We have been living on the central coast since 1994. Upon returning to this area after the college years during the mid eighties, my wife and I decided to put down roots and raise our family in San Luis Obispo County. We lived for the past 15 years on the beach in Morro Bay. Always in search of the perfect ranch to ultimately call home, we found this splendid property on the beaten path in the wine country. With our now adult children grown, but living in the area we decided to pull our talents together and create a life for ourselves, where we can all work and play. With a picturesque little lake at the heart of our ranch, it has become the center of our universe. A wide variety of activities fills our days here at the ranch. Long gone are the sleepy, foggy days passing our time watching the waves at the beach.

I have a background in horticulture, however, I'm quickly getting versed in everything Ag., most specifically wine grapes. We are creating the grounds such that a visitor on site will feel a part of the natural scene. Good stewardship of this amazing natural setting is at the top of our agenda.

Come and enjoy a piece of the beauty that is the quintessential central coast experience.

Why The Owner chose California

We did not intend to buy a vacation rental. We purchased a winery property and it just worked out that The Gatehouse lent itself well for a private guest suite for visitors.

What makes this villa unique

privacy and solitude on one hand while the other will revel in socializing, entertainment and partying with excellent food and wine.

Guestbook comments from the owner

You have a lovely property. Thank you for all the nice little touches.

Happy New Year!

A beautiful and relaxing place to get away. It is in a perfect location if you're wine tasting and has an awesome landscape to enjoy while winding down from the day's adventures. Joe is a real down-to-earth, super friendly guy. The facility he is about to open to the public is going to be very cool!

This place is so cute! Bright and clean in a beautiful setting. The Gatehouse is a perfect get away for a wine tasting trip. The grounds are lovely. They do weddings and other events here and they certainly have the place for it. I highly recommend it!

Our Wedding Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for the weekend of our wedding and loved the gatehouse! All the little touches in the decor and amenities within the house fit us perfect. It was nice to get away and unplug and be comfortable all at the same time. My favorite parts of our stay were the electric fireplace and walking around the property. It's very beautiful! We loved the snacks and crackers and cheese too! Thank you!

FANTASTIC location, WARM hospitality and a CHARMING residence!!!

  • 5 of 5

Joe & Jeanine are truly wonderful hosts and the Lago Guiseppi gate-house is a delightfully peaceful place to stay. The winery is an ideal location to hide away from the world or to centrally explore Paso Robles wine country. The residence is privately tucked away from the rest of the property, the bed is comfy, the bathroom immaculate and the kitchen is stocked with anything you could possibly need, plus the main house if just a phone call away in case you forgot your toothpaste :). It was a true pleasure to stay at Lago Guiseppi, we returned to the bay area rested and revived. I could not have picked a better getaway with more gracious hosts and would highly reccommend a stay at Lago Guiseppi with Joe & Jeanine to anyone looking for a respite in the Paso Robles wine country.

November Visit

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed my private retreat stay here, weather was brisk, some rain and some blue skies too, a perfect fall weather weekend. The fall color had just peaked around the nearby vineyards, so the views were still gorgeous! Oh, two very friendly dogs on the property, great companions for a walk up the hillside! Thanks for the hospitality!

It was great!

Lago Giuseppe was fantastic! Driving from San Francisco to LA this was a perfect place to stop over night…lovely spot. The gatehouse was perfect. We loved the privacy and the cozy feel. Everything we needed was in place. It was neat and clean, very crisp. The complimentary welcome basket and wine was a nice touch. It's a beautiful property with its own private lake. We kayaked, did a little fishing, even played some bocce next to the lake. We also took a hike up “business hill” which affords a view of the entire property as well as a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. At night, the stars are amazing. The family runs the show; they made our stay very special. We are so happy to have found this spot before it becomes tragically hip…we’ll be back.
