You'll love this ocean front condo in the prestigious Keauhou Surf and Racket Club. This gated community has three lighted tennis courts with a tennis pro available, large swimming pool, picnic area, badminton on the grass, gas and charcoal grills. There are also several Hawaiian heritage sites in the complex, adding interest to this beautiful tropical setting.
Our condo is on the ground floor, right on the water, a large corner unit with a huge wrap-around lanai. You can walk right out the door across the lawn to the edge of the ocean, about 50' away. The spacious living room and master bedroom open onto the lanai allowing the breezes to blow through, bringing in the sounds and scents of surf to lull you to sleep at night.
This condo will easily sleep six - the master bedroom has a king side bed, the guest bedroom has two twin beds and the living room sofa pulls out into a queen size bed. There is seating for six at the large dining room table, plus two stools at the bar.
The living room has a 42" flatscreen HDTV and Blu Ray DVD player for your viewing pleasure after a fun filled day swimming at Kahalu'u Beach, kayaking and snorkeling at the Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay, hiking the lava fields at the volcano, driving to the top of Mauna Kea, playing a round of golf at the Kona Country Club Golf Course next door, shopping in Kona, or any other number of activities available on the Big Island.
There is also high speed Wi-Fi access for your computer and a printer in the guest room if you need it.
The kitchen is fully equipped and the adjacent dining room has seating for six.
Just up the hill you will find the Keauhou Shopping Center which has a drug store, grocery store, post office, urgent care medical office, restaurants and multi-plex movie theater. Very close and convenient.

We live in Northern California, a working couple who own their own business. We love to scuba dive, snorkel, water ski, swim, go boating, almost all the water sports! This Hawaiian condo is our second home.
Steven Bonak purchased this condo in 2010
We have vacationed in Hawaii many times and really enjoy all the Big Island has to offer, from the varied climate zones of the rainforests in Hilo to the dry Kona coast. There is always something to do and the weather is always wonderful. The Keauhou Surf and Racket Club is such a beautiful complex that we were excited to be able to purchase a unit there. It is private and quiet, conveniently located, and, I repeat, beautiful.
Whale watching in the winter. There is a small beach at the north end of the complex with sea turtles and tide pools. Spectacular sunsets.
It was an excellent stay in the house. You can hear the sound of the wave in the lanai itself. We were 2 families with toddler. The owner was very helpful to flex my checkout time. You can watch sunset right from the condo itself with no obstruction. Because the condo is on ground floor, the lanai extends to the lawn outside where my kid enjoyed a lot. I would definitely recommend the place.
It was a great property with everything you need for a beach vacation. The owners were very easy to deal with for the reservation and any other questions you may have.
The complex is very clean, pool at peak times was overcrowded, but it was doable. The unit itself is large and was nice and tidy upon our arrival. Unfortunately, on our first evening we found COCKROACHES in the kitchen, even though we left no food out. One even crawled into the oven fan. I contacted the owner ASAP, he said he had heard about them and said we could go buy traps and he would pay us back! Never in all my years in Hawaii have I run into roaches. This was not a good sign. The portable fans are old and rusted and I would not use them around my children. One that was clean, didn't work at all, another was horribly noisy. The xbox does not work, new power cable maybe? My little guys wanted some downtown after long days in the sun, so they were pretty bummed. The dishwasher hardly works and I had a tough time even getting it to turn on. Bathroom towels are old and scratchy, bring your own if you go. We would definitely stay at the Surf and Racquet Club, just not in this unit.
We just stayed a week in building 2 and had a great trip. We had two bedrooms, 2 full baths, full kitchen and dining room and a great lanai on the ground level. Parking was assigned and very close and the breezes through the apt made it clear why A/C is not needed. We never lacked anything from enough dishes to laundry soap to beach chairs and ice. Every appliance was clean and well kept and the furniture was comfy after a long day. With a west-facing apt and no obstructions between us and the water we watched terrific sunsets every night from the lanai. Our only challenge was with the screen doors, but wouldn't you know, Steve already had them slated for replacement this week. Steve was very easy to work with, left us clear but not micromanaging instructions and the week went off without a hitch. We had a car and thought the location was great b/c you could hop on the belt road or Ali'i drive just out of the club; the grocery store is just up the hill; and a great beach and snorkeling spot was also super close. We would go back in a heartbeat for the location, price, and ease of the whole process.
This condo on the ground floor is extremely spacious and would accommodate 6 people very easily. Kitchen is more than adequate with everything that you need to cook home if you wish. The lanai which opens to a short grass area before the cliffs and ocean is an incredible place to just chill out with a cocktail or glass of wine as you watch the magnificent sun sets.
If nobody was in the condo above us we would have definitely given this five plus stars. However, it appears that the floor of the above condo is directly laid on the ceiling of this unit. We could hear every footstep of the people above which is ok to some degree during normal hours. Unfortunately for us the people above were early risers and managed to wake both of us up every morning at 4:30 am. We are not late risers but neither do we get up on vacation at this hour.
The location is about a 20 min drive into Kona which for us was no issue. That was more than balanced by the close proximity of a great supermarket and a few restaurants.
Overall, great property !
This condo was much more than the description provided. It was beautiful & roomy with a kitchen supplied with anything and everything you could ask for in dishes, pots / pans and appliances. We wanted for nothing. We were very close to our favorite snorkeling beach and the 4 of us so enjoyed our stay. We had taken snorkel equipment with us and would have been very happy with just that. However, to our surprise we found a plethora of other equipment in the extra bedroom closet. There were boogie boards, ice chest, chairs, umbrella and many other items. The condo is fully supplied to meet your every need. We were there for 6 days and ate every breakfast & a few dinners on the lanai and so enjoyed the scenery, wonderful smells and the close proximity of the water. I have saved this condo information in my favorites file and will hopefully be going back again.
