When we pulled in on bikes and first saw the place we thought that we had the wrong place .After checking out the inside it was just what we were looking for clean and cozy.It was a little worn but the neighbor hood was quiet and peaceful in the eve setting outside. We would recommend this place again as it was perfect for us

Quite and peaceful place!

  • 5 of 5

I spent more than one month there with husband and son. Was my better month ever in USA! The house is small, but very comfortable and it has everything you need.

The place is nice, peaceful, romantic and quite and the owner and his daugther are friendly, helpful and very polite.

Although the house borders the owner's house, your privacy is guaranteed!

I reccomend this place to all people who seek a quite house, comfortable and convenient.

I can't wait to go back there!

Nice, easy-going place to stay

  • 5 of 5

I had to rush to find a place, short-notice, for a training I attended in Carrboro. I lucked out in finding this apartment. The owner was extremely nice and accommodating, and did not try to take advantage of my obvious last-minute need for a place.

The apartment is well-kept and clean, with plenty of room. The owner is doing a lot of work on the property, but he's kept that separate from the apartment. Also, although the owner lives on the property, the entrance to the apartment is separate and private.

Carrboro itself is a great little town, and the free public bus system is easily accessible from the apartment (a block or so away), and it's close enough to walk into town if you need. I didn't rent a car for the trip, and I had no problems getting around.

I'd definitely stay here again, and I recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area.

Nice apartment in Carrboro

  • 5 of 5

I finished a 7 day stay at David’s apartment and have to say it was a wonderful experience. I was worried at first after reading Ms. Vanda’s review but David assured me that her review was that of an angry woman who wanted to cancel at the last minute and get a full refund. He sent me to his web site( in which he outlines exactly how Ms. Vanda was not honest. After experiencing his apartment for a week I can wholeheartedly recommend it as a place to stay. It was comfortable and clean with a relaxing atmosphere. I am surprised that VRBO allows such dishonest reviews to be posted about an apartment that they are advertising and it makes me realize that I shouldn’t believe any of their reviews, good or bad, since they don’t seem to care whether they are truthful….

The details about the property are misleading. The owner has annexed a portion of his house - of which this is the rental - you can see the connecting door in the kitchen photo; hence no privacy.

The property was unkempt and shoddy in appearance, the quality of furniture was of extremely poor quality and confort - the blinds were in disrepair and needed cleaning as did the floor, the bed was advertised for two yet was a hotel standard sized single.

Outside, the parking facility was a number of yards away from the steps - which was over rough and bumpy ground - none of which was lit at night so major Health and Safety concerns when arriving back after dark or reversing as you couldn't see a thing. Furthermore, the whole parking area was littered with junk and derelict cars.

No pets allowed yet the owner had a huge German Shepherd which continually barked at any noise.

The bathroom was dirty, moldy and extremely basic with very poor fittings.

I mentioned my concerns to the owner and said we woldn't be able to stay there - he kept back $800 of our money - writing to VRBO and complaining did not help - they absolved themselves of any responsibility, yet they advertise this property on their site ! I would recommend extreme caution in renting ANY of their properties - it seems they are not vetted beforehand.

I would certainly not recommend this property to anyone, in my opinion camping outdoors would be preferable option and would save a lot of money into the bargain. Please avoid this property.

Owner's Response: VRBO investigated her complaints and cleared me with the letter below but they refuse to remove the review(keep in mind the woman never stayed in the apartment) which means you don't know how many other reviews are not true... whether they are good reviews or bad ones!! Hello David, We appreciate your prompt response. We have made thorough notes of your comments and explanation of this unfortunate situation. We are grateful for your cooperation in resolving this issue. Again, we certainly apologize for any frustration or inconvenience regarding this complaint. We wish you more carefree renting in the future. Best Regards, Sheila US Trust & Security HomeAway® | VRBO® | VacationRentals™ Response to complaint 1. The apartment was built new with the house in 1980, it was not “annexed”. 2.”Door” at kitchen is an insulated panel bolted shut, not a door. 3. Solid wood furniture and Futon has a high end 6 inch mattress. 4. Bed was advertised as a double bed. 5. She was not there at night. I have motion sensing lights and a deck light. 6. Parking area has the cab to my pickup, my pickup and my car. Both registered and used weekly. 7. All blinds work and were clean. 8. Walk way is gravel path but level. 9. No mold or dirt in bathroom(a stain on the 40 year old shower insert maybe). Fixtures are normal working fixtures. 10. I have a dog and listing says pets are negotiable.
