About Alessandra Gaito

This is me, Alessandra, the owner and home manager of the apartment.

I grew up in the area. I still remember when cars and motorbikes were allowed to cross the Ponte Vecchio. So many things have changed since then, but not our bridge, a milestone in the life of every Florentine.

Alessandra Gaito purchased this apartment in 1964

Why Alessandra Gaito chose Florence

This is a special place, it belongs to my family since 1964. It used to be the place where my parents worked together for 40 years. We decided to turn it into an apartment to share it with people who can understand an appreciate its value.

What makes this apartment unique

A unique viewpoint on the city.

The apartment is located in one of the most characteristic areas in town. It is at a walking distance from all the major points of interest.

Firenze in style!

  • 5 of 5

My family had the good fortune to spend almost 2 weeks in Florence and Tuscany this past month and even better luck in finding this incredible gem of an apartment right on the bank of the Arno and next to the Ponte Vecchio. The apartment, on the 2nd floor, is just as you see on the site and Alessandra made everything easy, from the application process to meeting us personally at the apartment and giving us great food and fun recommendations. But perhaps the best part is the location. It is only steps to the Ponte Vecchio and only minutes from all the historic sites in city center, all while being on the south side of the river, or the Oltarno district. It has a much more local feel, with small shops, quaint piazzas and great ristorantes. Also, at such a great price, we based out of the apartment, did a couple of overnights and left most of our things there. Last but not least, at the end of every long and wonderful day, nothing was better than standing on our balcony with a glass of wine in hand looking out over the city and hearing the music playing from the bridge. We can't wait to get back!

Grazie mille Alessandra!!

Gorgeous apartment. Everything you could possibly need for a short or long term stay in Florence. Beautiful location on the river and overlooking the Ponte Vecchio. Allesandra was very helpful in assisting us with planning our trip. Could not have asked for a better place to stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful apartment.

Sophisticated Italian jewel!

  • 5 of 5

We were mightily impressed with this jewel of an apartment on the Arno River. The night view of the Ponte Vecchio bridge was amazing. The location was superb. We were glad it was on the opposite side of the river from the major tourist attractions, some of which we could see from our viewpoint, but away from the really dense traffic. We also really enjoyed walking this part of the city including old Belvedere fort, affording an incredible view of the city along with a small bar to get your libation and put your feet up. It was easy walking distance to all of the major tourist attractions in this historic city. It was impossible to get lost walking "home" at the end of a long day as the famous bridge is the best landmark in the city.

The home was modern, clean, and had a more than adequate kitchen. The sheets and pillows are more luxurious than in other international VRBO's we have encountered, more along the lines of what I hoped to see. Alessandra herself is a charming Italian woman who is straightforward and has an excellent command of English.

We highly recommend this lovely home.

Owner's Response: Thank you Stephanie, it is always rewarding to know my guests had a good stay at the apartment, and both you and your husband were two wonderful guests. Too bad we didn't had much time to talk on your check out, the marathon in the historical centre was threatening your driving out of the city, but you made it! I hope we have a chance to meet again in the future. Ciao.

Fantastic location...wonderful owner!

  • 5 of 5

Alessandra's apartment was the absolute perfect location for our first family trip to Florence. She was a super organized hostess, easy to communicate with, and very professional. On the first night she gave us three restaurant recommendations...all of which we tried, and all of which were fantastic! The best part of all...they were all on our street! The view of the Ponte Vecchio, as well as the ability to walk to every location in Florence from this apartment made it perfect!

Great Apartment in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four rented this apartment for a fantastic week in Florence. The apartment is great, located in the heart of Florence, and is within convenient walking distance of all of the major sights, attractions and locations. It's also an easy 20 minute walk to the main train station, making day trips convenient as well. The area around the apartment has plentiful shopping and restaurants, and a small grocery store just a block away. The apartment was well-stocked, clean and updated, and had all of the available features mentioned in the listing. Alessandra was a great hostess, and her communication and attentiveness was fantastic.

Excellent place to call "home"!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week at the old bridge apartment. It is in the heart of Florence, making it easy to head "home" for an afternoon break to put our feet up, enjoy the view of the Arno and Ponte Vecchio before heading out for an enjoyable evening. Although we ate out for most dinners, it was great to have a nicely appointed kitchen to make breakfast and brew coffee. The grocery store is very near and there is a rolling cart available to carry things home in. Both bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and private, making it easy to travel with another couple or with children. Alessandra is very helpful. She offered to arrange a cab for us to get to the airport. The day before we left we found out that there was one day taxi strike planned! Without her help we would have been unaware of the strike until the day of departure. We were grateful for her assistance and made it to the airport in a private taxi when there were no public taxis to be had. She was delightful to work with.
