Overview

Bonaire House Rental Photos and Description

Private Oceanfront House on top location, 2 Bedrooms , 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Pelican Reef is a real beach house, ideally located on the fringes of Playa Lechi, at the very rim of the Caribbean Sea. The center of Kralendijk, Bonaire’s main village, is hardly a 15 minute walk away, as are most of the activities as well as the main restaurants.

The house itself, carefully tucked away in lush tropical greenery, could be described as casual and intimate. The interior is plain and simple: island style with colonial accents and an occasional splash of Caribbean color.

Being a private residence, the house is equipped with all amenities and comfort you could wish for during your stay.

Pelican Reef is all about easy outdoor living: a constant airy breeze provides the perfect temperature. The spacious porch (45m2) offers plenty of shade, there is a nice sun-deck (50m2) with loungers, deck chairs, and a hammock. Our swim dock allows you to slip straight into the turquoise Caribbean Sea to have a swim or have a nice dive at our 'home' reef Something Special.

But the main feature is without any doubt the peace and quiet this idyllic house has to offer... with your own private beach to enjoy fantastic sunsets and starry moonlit skies.

Frankly the only things to pack are swim wear and snorkeling gear!

Keywords: Beach House, Villa, at one of the best spots on Bonaire, close to centre of Kralendijk.

My thoughts began as prose... but your photos awoke sensation and the words and images began to form more like a poem

I am not a poet but feel free to use my entry if it would be of help to you and PR.

Peacefully, tranquilly, the water gently serenades the night,

as light cast from the tiniest sliver of moon dances -Monet-like- upon the sea surface.

Surrounded otherwise in solitude and silence,

you now dangle your four legs from your pier into warm water,

You are sipping your Rioja, and your love - her Cognac.

You have arrived.

Pelican Reef!

You wish/dream time stand still, and, for a lovely week, it does.

And every year, you promise yourself more:

Knowing that a week is too short; indeed even a life…

Hush, silence; you fear to share this secret with your friends:

You want/need this place/piece of peace

Always available for you two..two alone.

Be still brain! Be kind.

Others need the sun, sea, surf, silence,

Moon, peace, solitude, tranquility,

Water, warmth, wonder, love…

Have a heart, share.

After all, Kees does..

Pelican Reef! .

Happy New Year!

Great Stay at Pelican Reef

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a wonderful week at Pelican Reef. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone going to Bonaire.

The house was very well equipped. We didn’t cook while we were there but did make use of the kitchen for cold breakfast and lunch sandwiches. There were coolers available for use which was very handy. There are well-fitting screens on all the windows and doors and a nice breeze blows through the house. We appreciated the gate and the alarm system and had no issues with security on the property. The house was very clean and the appliances were all in good repair.

We took advantage of being able to snorkel right in front of the house at Something Special. Water entry was easy and there was plenty to see.

The location of Pelican Reef is great. Of course, right on the water. Also, close to dive shops, restaurants, and shopping. Very easy to get around from there.

Another great stay at Pelican Reef

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed another beautiful two weeks under the sun and stars at Pelican Reef. With great access to the water and to town Pelican Reef is the ultimate for convenience and gracious living while on Bonaire. Only problem we had was leaving! Many thanks to Mark for his help during our stay and to Kees for handling all the booking and arrival arrangements flawlessly.

Repeat visitors

We have been coming to Pelican Reef for 10 years now and have already booked for next year. The location is good and we have seen most creatures off the house reef. The set up for diving is very good, including lights down to the dock and an outside shower and rinse tank. The house reef 'Something Special' is also great for snorkelling.

The house is very well equipped and well maintained . Mark the caretaker is excellent, helpful and very practical. There are good restaurants within easy walking distance. The gated plot gives a sense of security along with the fitted alarms. We have stayed at other places on Bonaire but keep returning to Pelican Reef.

Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

Pelican Reef was the perfect getaway on Bonaire. The house was clean, comfortably furnished, and sat right on the water. We dove off the dock several times - dive spot Something Special is only a few kicks from the back wall. We loved the location - very quiet and secluded, yet a 15 minute ocean-side walk to the center of town. We dove all day, came back to nap, then enjoyed dinner in Kralendijk each night. Kees and Mark were both extremely helpful and friendly. We certainly recommend this for anyone looking for a special stay on the island.

Two weeks in diver paradise

  • 5 of 5

The villa is as shown in the amazing photos. Leeward (calm) ocean is in the backyard! Great views upon entering front door from living room, from one bedroom, and of course from big back porch, deck and dock. Easy to step in and go diving. Reef is just short swim out. Great visibility. Big tarpon will fishfrom your dive lights at night. Beautiful backyard sunsets. This villa and one next door are walled/gated together so you can park your vehicle inside. There is a good visual barrier between the two villas. We used the laundry - small Euro washing machine (read directions) and clothes line. The Rinse tub at end of driveway near house was very convenient after our many great shore dives around the island with our rental pickup truck. There are plenty of places to let equipment dry. Outdoor shower was wonderful. AC in each bedroom appreciated but fortunately the breeze was steady this time of year. Several fans - one bedroom fan needs to be adjusted - too noisy/wobbly to use - used AC instead. A few mosquitos to swat in the house each day...screens on windows and porch doors...electric tennis racket bug swatters...we keep the nets on the beds to be safe. Watch hummingbirds and bufferflys through front windows. Nice kitchen - gas stove, full size refrigerator, toaster oven, micro and dishwasher. Plenty of pots and pans and utensils. We walked to town for dinner one night - not far and plenty of options are available there. Plan to wind down to island time, adjust to less AC, more dust and a few bugs and you will be ready to appreciate a great adventure.

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

From setting up the reservation through arrival we have great communication, plenty of information and assistance. Thanks Kees and Mark. The house has everything we needed to keep two teens busy - close to town, on the water, plenty of great spaces to hang out. Beds are comfortable and AC totally appreciated. Bathroom spacious with plenty of towels. Kitchen very well stocked (no veg peeler). Loved eating outside, comfortable with exceptional views. Be warned - the screens on door and windows are fabulous but there are still mosquitos a plenty outdoors. Sunscreen and bug spray were daily friends. The house is walkable to town, but for grocery shopping and exploring we were glad to have a vehicle. Truck worked perfectly to haul gear, get through the National Park and a scuba sites. Parking at house spacious. The secure gate at access road added peace of mind. Roads are rough - bike riding was a little risky. We loved that this is not your typical tourist hub, it was relaxing, people were friendly, it was quiet at night, but there were plenty of outdoor activities. We highly recommend Babajan's BBQ Restaurant - on the way to town and only open on the weekend. For snorkeling - water taxi to Klien Bonaire (sea turtles) and Karpata (north of town) were favorites. Enjoy.
