Youll be captivated by the grandeur of the famous Pitons, as well as panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.
Leafy banana plants and flowers greet you in the circular front courtyard as you approach the villa. Behind the main house, an expansive terrace surrounds the central rooms where a tamarind tree grows up through the Barbados tiles offering shade to those escaping the mid-afternoon heat. Another smooth terrace lined with sunloungers wraps a large, inviting pool. The outdoor grill is perfect for al fresco dining. Head to the gazebo or any of the outdoor lounge sets and take in St. Lucias magical sunsets.
An immense living room unveils your first glimpse of the beautiful decor adorning Tamarind House. The homes antique furnishings and tasteful touches have earned it a place in Maco magazine and the book, Caribbean Elegance. An immense living room is the centrepiece of the interior, revealing stunning views through archways opening onto the back terrace. Catch a glimpse of lush green foliage as you prepare a meal in the fully-equipped, modern kitchen. An open-sided dining area seats up to eight guests.
All four bedrooms are furnished with elegant wood four-poster beds and antique furniture, with curtains that billow in the breeze. The three bedrooms in the main house have en-suite bathrooms of Italian tile and open onto a private balcony. The fourth bedroom is found in a separate, self-contained cottage, with its own living room, kitchenette and terrace with dining table.
Youre free to use a tennis court located below the house. Anse Chastanet beach is a five minute drive and has diving facilities, plus a protected marine park for snorkeling. Soufriere is close to St. Lucias most spectacular natural features: Pitons, Sulphur Springs, botanical gardens, and hidden waterfalls. Shops and restaurants can be found in town, though serious shoppers may prefer a daytrip to Rodney Bay.

We had a wonderful time in St Lucia and loved staying at the Tamarind House. It was so spacious, with beautiful views. The host was gracious and we enjoyed the meals the cooks made very much. it was so enjoyable to come home after sightseeing or snorkeling to have a delicious meal waiting for us, while watching the sun set over the water. Such a lovely, lovely place. Thank you Luxury Retreats!
We found Tamarind House to be an ideal and stunning venue for our special 2 week holiday with our four children. The house itself is great, with lovely bedrooms, a wonderful open plan (and cool) living room (with good WiFi for the kids), and lots of amenities like CDs, DVDs and games. My wife and I stayed in the cottage which was lovely and secluded. The swimming pool is bigger than we thought and lovely to swim in on a hot day. We used the tennis court just a couple of times. It was lovely to have Anne and Cheryl to cook breakfast, clean, and prepare lunch or dinner -- a real treat when so much time can be taking with preparing meals. They were helpful, cheerful and discreet. The only things to be aware of are that there are a lot of mosquitos in the summer, and we got bitten a lot before we knuckled down to a strict regime of putting on repellent in the morning and evening, and spraying rooms before going to bed. The second thing is that it is really worth hiring a car.
The house was perfect, and the view...wow. The ladies on staff were lovely to us and made such delicious food.
The house is the most spectacular villa have ever rented. With flooding in St. Lucia and a snow storm in New York getting there and back was a real problem, but Lucille was exceptionally helpful and in the end it all worked out fine. We will definitely try to go back at some point!
Tamarind House was the perfect getaway for a girls trips of 6 of us. The house is absolutely gorgeous with breathtaking views of the pitons. The house staff was wonderful in preparing us meals. Our visit was in the middle of July, and since this is an open-air villa, it was definitely on the hot side, which we were prepared for. Better fans would be a nice addition as well as a ceiling fan in the cottage. It was a 15-minute walk down to Anse Chastanet beach/resort which has lounge chairs/huts for rental and the bar makes a wonderful mojito. The walk back up to the villa is quite the workout!
