About Doug Daigle
We've spent our whole lives recreating in Vail and the Rocky Mountains skiing, biking, golfing, camping, flyfishing, etc. We bought our unit with all of this in mind as we wanted a great place to spend our weekends and holidays. We feel so fortunate to share this wonderful spot with family, friends and other guests.
Doug Daigle purchased this Townhome in 1990
Why Doug Daigle chose Vail
We bought this unit in East Vail because of the beauty of its surroundings, the close proximity to 5-6 world class ski resorts (Vail, Beaver Creek, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin), easy access from our home in Denver, access to the Vail Racquet Club and all of its wonderful amenities, and the unlimited number of summer and winter activities this area affords us and our guests.
What makes this Townhome unique
Our unit is one of few duplexes in the Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort with a creek-front location and unobstructed views of the lake, park and surrounding mountains (vs. the parking lot). We've also expanded our deck to create more indoor/outdoor living...and sunshine. Hiking, cycling, mtn biking, flyfishing, and snowshoeing are accessible right out of our front door. We are a 2-minute walk to the fitness center and restaurant, the park and the lake...and the bus stop with service direct to the ski slopes, Vail Village and the rest of the Vail Valley. It's a 5-mile bike ride West into Vail Village on the dedicated bike path paralleling the Gore Creek and Vail Golf Course along the way. Going East from our unit, the frontage road dead ends into the dedicated bike path heading up to the summit of Vail Pass and down into Copper Mountain/Leadville/Breckenridge, etc. Our unit is equally well suited for both family and adult-only vacations.

Great views from the deck! Right on the bus route! 3 NICE bathrooms!
I love a real fire and the owners provide plenty of firewood for your stay. The view off the back deck is what people dream of when they think of Colorado. There’s a pond, a stream and beautiful mountains. You will take several photos to share on Instagram I’m sure! Fully stocked kitchen with all the pots and pans you need. The heated floors and steam showers will give you the spa treatment after a day of activities. On the bus route, this property makes it easy to get back and forth to Vail Village, Golden Peak and Lionshead. Everything is updated. There’s even a grill on the deck for those steaks you’ll buy at the nearby grocery store. We live in Colorado, but this townhome reminds us of why we live here. So beautiful.
Another Great Stay
Everything was perfect. We've stayed at this property several times and always enjoy it!
Fabulous East Vail Townhome
We had an amazing family vacation, and the property was wonderful. I was slightly concerned before our stay for two reasons. The first, there were reviews that said the property was rundown. It was not. It was fresh, clean, and comfortable. It was well-decorated, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the bathrooms with heated floors and steam showers were fabulous. My other concern was the distance from the mountain. This was our first time staying off-mountain. Most people in the surrounding townhouses just drove to the mountain. We also did drove a few times and even at Christmastime if we left before 9am, there was plenty of room in the Vail garage. The cost is $30/day. We also took the shuttle which was easy. You text “ Nbus Vail 555” to find out what time the next shuttle will arrive across the street from the West Entrance to the unit. The shuttle comes every 15 minutes during peak hours. On the way home at 4pm ish the shuttle was packed to the gills and not the most pleasant experience.
If I could change anything about the experience, I would have wished for a better dishwasher. You must put dishes in clean if you want them to come out clean. Also, check-out rules have you have all dishes cleaned and put away. I am used to rules allowing for you to run the dishwasher before you leave. This would have been hugely helpful since I forgot to run the d/w the evening before our departure and had to do many dishes by hand in the wee hours of the AM. Also, the d/w door is sometimes hard to close as something from one of the racks gets stuck out. Easy enough to remedy by using your hand to push it in and then the door closes easily enough.
The other thing which I thought I would love was the wood-burning fireplace. I’m a pretty good fire-starter, but I could never get the logs provided which seemed to be dry started. Note to others, buy the fire starters which I forgot to buy during both of our trips to the grocery store. A gas fireplace is not as charming but so easy in a rental.
Now, having mentioned the negative, let me again revisit the positive, this place has all you need, the owners are organized, generous with the bathroom and kitchen supplies and keep the place spotless and ready for the fun to begin. I would recommend it whole-heartedly to families and groups of friends!
Hi Lorri -
Thanks for your time to review our place and your stay with us, I'm glad you had a nice time and appreciate the 5-star review. In the sprit of the VRBO community, I wanted to respond to a few items for update/clarification sake.
Thanks for the heads up on the dishwasher door. We will have a look to either fix or replace it as needed. We've also gone ahead and changed our house rules asking that our guests simply load and start the dishwasher before departing.
Sorry to hear about your challenges with the wood-burning fireplace. It appears you may have been trying to start the fire using just the large hardwood logs and paper (an uphill battle for sure no matter how good you are) vs. the quick-starting pine also supplied at our place (back porch and front porch). We've gone ahead and restocked both piles of wood along with plenty of fire starters and newspaper per your suggestion.
You mentioned seeing a review of our place being "rundown". This was somewhat alarming since we've never received such a review so thinking you must have been referring to another place. Thanks for confirming later on in your review that is was not at all run down but rather well-decorated, well-equipped, fresh, clean and comfortable. We take a lot of pride in presenting a high-quality environment for our guests.
Again, thanks so much and please get in touch next time you're planning a visit to Vail.
Great stay in Vail
We had a great stay, the condo worked great for our family of 5 and we enjoyed many meals on the deck after long days of outdoor activities. Only bummer was the condo association had a lot of construction going on with new siding being put on most of the buildings and parking was challenging at times. Noise would have been a pain but we were out doing activities the great majority of time that construction was active.
Thanks Matt for your glowing review, we appreciate you staying with us. Apologies for the neighboring construction and parking challenges. Our complex is in the final stages of a long-term upgrade project to both the interior and exterior of the buildings. I'm happy to hear you were out enjoying activities in the mountains and hopefully minimally impacted. We look forward to completion of these projects very soon. Please get in touch next time you visit Vail, we'd love to host you all again. Best, Doug
We were in Vail for a wedding and found this location perfect! It was close to Lionshead village and Holy Cross Event deck where the wedding and reception were held. The views were amazingly beautiful, the area was quiet and the condo perfect! It suited our needs well and had all the items needed to make our stay enjoyable. The owner stayed in touch and we were even able to check in a little early. Would definitely recommend this place to others!
Thanks Darla, we really enjoyed hosting you all. Happy to hear you enjoyed your visit and staying at our place. Please get in touch next time you're planning to visit Vail and feel free to refer friends and family our way.
What a lovely condo! The host thought of everything.
We had a glorious 4 day stay in this home. Our new go to when traveling to Vail. Quiet and breathtakingly beautiful views. Host checked on us several times, and was most helpful. We will be back!
Thanks Tammy and sorry for the delayed reply. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at our place. Please get in touch next time your plans bring you to Vail, we'd love to host you again.
