Read our reviews! For 5 years we've been on VRBO, with many satisfied guests, some of whom repeat year after year. They love the view from our balconies and the peace and quiet Harbour Key offers!
We have one of Harbor Island's newest homes, built in 2008 and freshly painted in 2015. Drive our 3-row golf cart to get to the Harbor beach and appreciate our unobstructed water views and the gorgeous 5-minute drive over salt marshes and lagoons teeming with wildlife. Your children can ride safely all around Harbor Key on our bikes, with no traffic and no exit except through locked gate. Fish and crab without leaving our backyard. Our home sits on a tidal lagoon and overlooks the Saint Helena Sound where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Each evening offers a breathtaking sunset from two full length balconies! Each morning offers a different view of shrimp boats trolling in the sound. A sanctuary for sea birds, the balconies offer up close views of many species and the lagoons are host to alligators, fish, crabs and other wildlife.
This Non-Smoking, no-pets home is kid-friendly and comes equipped with everything you need for a family vacation: free use of our golf cart, lots of bicycles, a pack 'n' play, dining booster seat, safety gate, diaper changing table, toys, movies and books!
Our home has two master bedrooms/bathrooms with queen beds, each with doors opening onto the 2nd floor balcony with plenty of chairs and tables. The first floor of the house has a full bathroom , a large living room, a full size kitchen with brand new appliances, a dining table that seats 6 and 4 counter top dining stools, all opening out on a full balcony furnished with chairs and tables. Two bedrooms on the 3rd floor share a huge bathroom; one bedroom has twin beds; the other a full size bed. Also on the 3rd floor is a common area with a futon offering awesome views of lightning storms should you be so lucky to have one!
Access to the Harbor Island Beach and Racket Club and facilities is included in available and includes a swimming pool, tennis, volleyball, basketball, fitness/weight rooms.
Drive our golf cart, our bike or drive your car to the private, uncrowded beach at Harbor Island. We also include for your use 2 car passes to Hunting Island State Park beaches, just 4 minutes away by car (without the pass, $5 per adult per day to visit) where you can enjoy two different beach areas, the Lighthouse, Nature Center, Fishing Pier and more....
Want more than natural beaches? Historic downtown Beaufort, South Carolina, is just minutes away. Venture further to Savannah, GA, just an hour away. Or in 90 minutes, you can enjoy historic Charleston, SC!
We are located in the heart of Gullah culture, near Fripp Island, 45 minutes from Hilton Head Island, and about 25 minutes from Parris Island, SC
We are native to West Virginia and currently reside in Pittsburgh, PA, until we can retire to our Harbor Island home!
Mia Moran-Cooper purchased this house in 2010
My husband and I have enjoyed the Low Country around Beaufort, SC for many years. We find the whole area, dripping with Spanish moss and Southern charm, to be so romantic and enchanting, full of historic interest and unique Gullah culture. There is something here for everyone to enjoy: If you get bored with the natural beauty, unspoiled beaches, nature center, trails and lighthouse at Hunting Island, there is shopping, dining, carriage rides and playing at the waterfront park in downtown Beaufort; the Marine Corp Parris Island and Marine Corp Air Station and more. Nearby Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC offer great day day trips. In April 2010, we just could not pass up the opportunity to buy a two-year old home of our own at Harbor Island where we watch dolphins follow the shrimp boats and enjoy yet another private beach where we have watched egret nest eggs hatch, followed sea turtles and collected our share of horseshoe crab shells!
Includes use of 2 unlimited car passes for nearby Hunting Island State Park (usually $5/per person/per day entry fee but you will get your whole carload in for free each day with our pass) Includes use of all the Harbor Island amenities: private beach, swimming pool (April 1-November 1) tennis, basketball, gym, crabbing/shrimping dock and more
My favorite place is my hollow in West Virginia. This particular home in Harbor Island is a close second! I have been here twice now and its beauty and serenity warms my soul. This last time I shared it with my lifelong friends of 40 years and my daughter and her children. Seriously, there is nothing better than sitting on the upper veranda watching the gorgeous sunsets every evening! I took enough photos to wallpaper a room! The accommodations, colors, decorative items and art give it such a wonderful local flavor it's hard to lock the door and leave. You would not want for anything! Whether heading to Hunting Beach, a hop skip and a jump down the road or visiting the Sound and its beach by golf cart, one can't go wrong. The information Mia provided us gave options for restaurants, shopping, local sight seeing and books of the history and geography of the environs. I'm fascinated by the Gullah people that made this area their home. There are plenty of spaces for walking and bicycling and for children to run free. This year we took an hour drive to visit Savannah. I would be remiss if I didn't thank our hosts Mia and Bob for such an amazing vacation! You made everything easy. If anyone is thinking of traveling to this beautiful part of the country I can't possibly recommend this home any more highly! Get away from the commerciality and crowded beaches of Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head. Come to Harbor Island and Beaufort where history and nature are center stage! Let Mia know and she'll make the wheels turn for a vacation home that is one of a kind!
I've been coming to HI since I was 8 years old as we own a condo on the island. This weekend was my mother in law's 70th birthday (and father in law's birthday, as they share the same birthday) and my sister in law and her family drove up from Florida and we drove in from Greenville. We needed a place to house all ten of us and Mia's BEAUTIFUL home was perfect for us for the weekend. Everything we could have ever thought of was there; the pictures don't do the home justice. Even though it was cold, we were able to fish, cruise around (bundled up) on the golf cart, play games, cook and enjoy each other's company comfortably. Mia was MORE than thorough and available at the drop of a dime if we had what questions. We think we have started a new family tradition for the matriarch and patriarch's birthday weekend. It was PERFECT! Thank you so much, Mia. You truly are the best hostess I've ever dealt with on VRBO!
My friends and I thouroughly enjoyed our brief but wonderful stay in your beautiful home. Arrangements could not have been easier, thanks to you, Mia, and your very helpful tips and seeing to every detail. Loved the comfort of the home and art work and decor are so nice. Gorgeous views and scenery, especially the sunsets!! We would happily recommend your home to anyone looking far a comfortable vacation spot. Thank you again.
We have stayed at this home for our past 2 summer vacations. Look No Further!!! This is the perfect home to help you enjoy all Harbor Island has to offer. The sunset views from the porch are amazing. This home is clean, comfortable and cozy. There was more than enough room. The golf cart was an added bonus. My family especially enjoyed a golf cart ride each evening to see all the wildlife. Mia was wonderful to work with and provided so much information to us before and during our trip. I have never met her but I feel like I know her so well. That personal touch is something that is hard to find these days. I highly recommend this home for your summer vacation.
What a great vacation home! We had 3 couples in the house and there was more than enough room for us. The decks are fantastic and we enjoyed the sunsets every evening. Mia (owner) did a fantastic job of sending us information in advance and the house is filled with useful information regarding things to do and places to eat. We ate out every night and every meal was fantastic! We had fun with the golf cart (which held all of us) seeing all of the different homes and exploring the different beaches. We spent one day at the community pool which was quite nice and spent the rest of the time at Hunting Island beach right up the street (having the passes from the house was great!). It was a public beach so it had bathrooms and was not too crowded. The sand is deep and the water was perfect.
Great house with lots of amenities included, the owners are so welcoming, open and available for questions at any time and the community is very nice. All in all, it was a fantastic time!
My family just finished our 3rd vacation here at this beautiful home. It appears my grandkids don't want to go anywhere else. :-) Bikes of all sizes to use, a limo golf cart, chairs, toys, beach towels, are all there, so we dont have to pack them. The Owners have always been so helpful with anything we needed. Just a call or text away, and they answered right away. You won't find a better owner to work with, hands down. The view from this home on Harbor Island can't be matched for the sunset view, and the wildlife. We saw Mr Al E. Gator nearly everyday in the lagoon under the decks and saw a couple of others just sunning themselves in random places on the island. If you're a Bird-watcher, you won't be dissappointed as well. We got the book out on birds (that was on the table in the living area) and tried to match the birds as we watched them from the decks. Kiddo's on the third floor with their own Bathroom, while the adults got the second floor to themselves. It was relaxing and there was plenty of room. The colors are coastal, and inviting. We have always felt right at home in this beautiful home.
The ocean side is just a 5 min golf cart ride, and the kids rode their bikes all over the island. My husband and I fished most evenings in the 'sound'. Never did run out of stuff to do, but its the best "unplugged" week, where I make the kiddo's put down their cell phones, tablets, and video games and spend quality time doing what families should do. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else, and my grandkids start asking a month after we get back, if we're going back next year.
