Aloha! We'd like to introduce ourselves so that you will feel even more comfortable in our Kona home - where we will eventually retire. We love Kona for the warm weather, slower pace, beautiful flowers and lots of sunshine. The Big Island is a magical place as you will see when visiting. We met in the 1970s and married in 1980 in Fontana, Calif. We have 2 children Jennifer 33 and Christopher 31. For the past 18 years we have been living in Nevada where we own and operate Dairy Queens. We also have a bed and breakfast inn in Fort Collins, Colorado: Inn at City Park. When not working or traveling, Kathy enjoys reading, working out, quilting and going to the latest movies. She is also an avid basketball fan of either college or NBA. Steve has a passion for golfing, running, laying out at the beach and, like Kathy, basketball. We hope you will enjoy staying at our La'oloa Vacation Home. It is filled with the spirit of the island - serenity, renewal and, of course, love. Steve & Kathy Boeche

When you think of Hawaii, you think of warmth, sand and sea. Although the Big Island (as locals call it) provides all climate zones found on the planet, we chose this warm, sunny and usually drier area for our home.
Its conveniently located to the necessities of life and the amenities of aloha!
Worked out the Cleaning with the two ladies. They were accommodating and started the other end of house while we packed and cleaned up. Unfortunately our plane didn't leave till around midnight so there was a lot of hours to kill. All worked out and we had a great stay. Had a great time and enjoyed the weather. Talk to you again.
My family of five had an amazing time in Kona. The house is spacious and beautifully furnished. We cooked in most days - usually on the grill - and at outside or on the lanai. It was quite hot while we were there in August. The trade winds were not blowing until our last day. Still, we were quite comfortable with the ceiling fans and box fans.
We toured the island, but almost every day, made it back to Magic Stands beach. The boogie boarding was consistently great. (The undertow is strong, so it's not ideal for small children.) I loved that everything we needed for the beach was provided - beach chairs, snorkel gear, cooler, towels.
Kathy and Steve were a joy to coordinate with. They answered my many questions in advance and even a couple while we were there.
We were in Kona for a week with our family and we loved every minute of it. The home is so well equipped and comfortable. We cooked most meals there and packed lunches for our day trips to the beach. Did not need anything as cooler, umbrella, beach chairs were all included! The neighborhood is so lovely and the house is close to the little beach town. We ate most meals outside as the weather was perfect. The home was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. I wouldn't hesitate to do this again!
The house was very comfortable for our party of 7. Beds were comfortable. Everything we needed in the kitchen was there. We loved the outside gazebo for breakfast and the porch for the sunsets. The living room was great for evening relaxing and visiting. There is a nice beach close by but we used the home as our base and went to a new beach each day. A rental car is necessary.
We stayed in this property for the Ironman Triathlon week and would 100% recommend. In what can be a chaotic week in Kona this house was close enough to enjoy the atmosphere and attend all of the functions but avoid the chaos. We had a party of 7 which included my parents and my children. The house was perfect for all. Communication with Kathleen was excellent and even a last minute addition of my coach to our party was well received. My boys particularly enjoyed the nearby beach and the fact that they swam with turtles everyday. I have already passed on the details to other friends who have qualified for the Ironman in 2016 and would stay there again without hesitation.
We had a wonderful stay with our 3 teenage kids, who enjoyed being a walking distance away from the Magic Sand beach, while we enjoyed sun sets on the terrace. House is very comfortable, located in a nice quite area, with spacious bedrooms and a comfortable cabana where we grilled every evening, with extremely well kept lawn and house itself. We are also very grateful to Kathleen for helping us with finding keys and providing some practical information over the phone and being very helpful and flexible. The only minor issue was that the air condition in the kitchen could not cool down the living room and it was very warm there in the afternoons. But the important thing was that the temperature in the bedrooms during the nights was not too high, and the master bedroom with the air condition was just perfect. Kitchen and house are well equipped and charming. All in all 5 stars and high recommendation for the property and its owners.
Our family stayed in Kathleen and Steve's home from March 23rd to April 4th, 2015. We had a wonderful time both in exploring the local activities and natural attractions as well as our time spent "at home" grilling, gaming, and catching up with each other. The home was so well stocked that practically anything needed was right there for our use. The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, the tv was huge (had a season finale that couldn't be missed), and the hot water never ran out even with 6 people staying in the home. The beach, where we got to boogie board and swim with the turtles, was just around the corner and the town/restaurants/shopping just a little farther than that. Found the location to be ideal in it's nearness to civilization, yet far enough away to enjoy privacy. The yard was beautiful and well maintained and everybody enjoyed the lush trees and foliage that we can't even grow where we live. I highly recommend their home for your "Home Base"
