Sugar Bay House is found in Columbus Landing, a famous historical site where the famed Genoese explorer is claimed to have once landed in 1493, on the island we today call St. Croix, in the tropical Caribbean. This villa has four bedrooms that can host up to eight guests and is formidably located high atop a hill, which results in amazing views of Salt River Bay. History blends with modernity and luxury to offer travelers the experience of a lifetime!
A prized feature of the property is its large swimming pool which lures guests to the sunny terrace where they can relax on a colonial planter’s chair under the shade of palm trees, or stretch out on decadently cushioned, lounge beds and enjoy the sun or the stars. Off to the side of the terrace is a charming gazebo adjacent to a grill for delightful alfresco meals. This property also boasts Wi-Fi access throughout, satellite television and many more amenities!
Sugar Bay House has a typical Caribbean color scheme consisting of darling pastel shades of pink, yellow and turquoise. The building has high, beamed ceilings, traditionally employed in island residences. Throughout the house are finely-crafted mahogany furnishings inspired by the plantation era. The dining room is large and made complete with a charming bar, while the fully-equipped adjacent kitchen makes cooking a breeze.
The villa’s bedrooms all face the poolside through individual French doors and have elegant West Indian furnishings. All rooms have private baths and air conditioning. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a wet bar with a refrigerator. The second room has a king bed and the two remaining rooms have two twin size beds each. Inside each en-suite bathroom are complimentary towels and stylish dressing gowns.
St. Croix stands out among many Caribbean islands, possessing a vibrant history as well as magnificent landscapes and culture. Your villa is conveniently located only ten minutes from either one of the island’s two towns, Christiansted or Frederiksted, where one can shop, sightsee and enjoy fine dining. Also minutes away is Cane Bay, a spot favored by locals for its diving and snorkeling. Reserve your dream tropical vacation today with Luxury Retreats!

Beautiful home with an effortless flow. The views were indescribable. Definitely a vacation to remember. Will definitely be using Luxury Retreats again.
Sugar Bay House is a lovely property located in the hills above the Salt River Bay. The view is beautiful, and the furnishings, particularly in the bedrooms, are delightful. Pete, the property manager who is slated to retire in August 2015, was an incredible asset in making our vacation more enjoyable by offering personalized advice about things to do, places to eat, and things to see that we might have missed out on otherwise. He also baked breakfast goods for us on two days of our stay that were wonderful - what a nice touch! The road to the house is partially paved, partially dirt; we were thankful that we had rented an SUV. The roads close by are very dark at night so, although you are fairly close to nearby bars and restaurants, we pretty much planned to be back by sundown (7-7:30). For our particular group (3 adults, 1 young adult, 2 teens), the location worked, but we would have preferred to have been able to access those nearby venues more easily at night. In all, a great stay!
My husband and I and our 5 sons had the most lovely trip to St. Croix! Sugar Bay House was the perfect spot for us to convene and enjoy the majestic ocean views and the weather could not have been beaten. It was spectacular every day. We enjoyed a day trip to Buck Island, snorkeling at Cane Bay, trips to the rain forest and the Domino Club to feed the pigs and regular trips to Christiansted. Truly an unforgettable experience.
Everything was as or better than expected. The villa was fully equpped with many thoughtful detials and an open bar. All the linen and utensils you need were there and it was really home from home from a daily living standpoint
All of this was enhanced by the presence of Peter Reeves the Property Manager who cared for every detail, gave great advice and cooked up a storm with his special recipes for banana bread, black bean soup and muffins. A great character and asset.
The only real negative was that the pool was reallly too cold to enjoy swimming and floating. OK for Kids but not adults
