About Bill Mountford
My wife and I are proud parents of three girls, and our family has enjoyed our cottage in Lakeside for many years. We really enjoy the entire local community - it has such charm and character. You can't beat Southwestern Michigan in the summer, but we have also enjoyed Harbor Country in the late fall and winter - the area has so much to offer.
Bill Mountford purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Bill Mountford chose Lakeside
We only live 33 miles from the property, so in less than 45 minutes we can escape to an entirely different world. The original foundation dates to 1895, and this cottage has so much character and charm we just fell in love with the place.
What makes this Cottage unique
One of the previous owners was a landscape architect, so the gardens are special. Our 'summer cottage' offers a great place to have a happy hour or let the kids escape to their 'own' private place. The grounds of our property are beautiful, and there are few better places to be than making s'mores at the fire pit after a great day at the beach.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Very charming, comfortable, and cozy.
Perfect getaway cottage! Loved the decor and comfort. Would love to see the garden in bloom and take advantage of the garden room in warmer weather. So glad we booked .
Adorable charming cottage!
Our stay was great and Bill was a great host. He offered to let us arrive early and depart late which was a bonus. The heat was off when we arrived and it was too cold so we had to leave while the heat came up to a comfortable temp, I’d recommend a little heat be on in winter for arrivals.
The house is cozy a d had everything we needed, the only thing missing is a fireplace!
We brought our dogs but the yard is not completely fenced in so it was a bit of an issue for us, I thought it was fully enclosed. But the yard was charming even in the snow.
Overall great stay, great place!
We felt at home
Bill's home was cozy and suited us very well for our short stay in October. He has great fire pit and detached porch that are great for time spent outside. The location was great and we loved spending down time lounging in the house.
Great girls weekend getaway!
We had a very relaxing girls weekend at Lakeside Cottage! My mom, sisters, and I all met up here, it was a very easy drive from Chicago suburbs. The cottage was just what we were looking for- full of character, quaint, and relaxed. We loved that there was a table in the kitchen as well as a dining table, so we had separate areas for dining vs playing games. Beds were all comfy. Absolutely loved the screened in porches and would love to come back here when weather is a little nicer so we could enjoy them more. Also so many antique stores nearby, which was fun to explore! Overall, cabin had everything we needed and we would stay again!!
Our family of 4 stayed at Lakeside for a fall break weekend. The weather was just awful. It rained 4" while we were there. We had to stay indoors most of the time. We played games, read some books, and enjoyed each others company. I don't have any complaints about this place. I like places to be extremely clean. I typically clean the place to my personal standard before we settle in. I didn't feel the need to clean this place much. Everything was tasteful and comfortable. The bed linens and towels were nice quality. The kitchen was pretty well set up for most basic cooking. We really appreciated the good quality paper products, TP and paper towels. It was nice to be able to take our dog along with us too. Our entire family had a nice time.
Cozy comfy getaway
Great property with plenty of room for everyone. Comfy beds and cute decor. Everything you could need for your time away. We had a girls getaway here and it was perfect. Loved the extra outdoor barn room for hanging out, playing games and when having dinner. Fire pit was fun since it was a little cooler when we were there. Easy drive to New Buffalo and other little shops on red arrow highway. Would definitely stay there again.
