My wife and I are proud parents of three girls, and our family has enjoyed our cottage in Lakeside for many years. We really enjoy the entire local community - it has such charm and character.
You can't beat Southwestern Michigan in the summer, but we have also enjoyed Harbor Country in the late fall and winter - the area has so much to offer.
Bill Mountford purchased this cottage in 2007
We only live 33 miles from the property, so in less than 45 minutes we can escape to an entirely different world. The original foundation dates to 1895, and this cottage has so much character and charm we just fell in love with the place.
One of the previous owners was a landscape architect, so the gardens are special. Our 'summer cottage' offers a great place to have a happy hour or let the kids escape to their 'own' private place. The grounds of our property are beautiful, and there are few better places to be than making s'mores at the fire pit after a great day at the beach.
Bill's cottage was a fantastic getaway! We really made use of the whole property. The four of us had a great time using the bikes in the shed on a trail nearby, took beach umbrellas and floaties down to the beach, spent each night by the firepit, enjoyed a lazy afternoon reading and chatting out in the summer cottage (screened-in-porch type thing), grilled for dinner, and used the laundry in the basement on the way out.
The property was clean and well maintained, instructions were clear, and neighborhood/area was quiet and comfortable. 10/10 and two thumbs up :)
We loved our time in Lakeside! This cottage was ideal for our family of 5. We had everything we needed and everywhere we looked there were extra special touches. The owner was so helpful and kind. We spent 2 days just soaking up the sun on the beach. The views took our breath away. We can't wait to come back!
We had an amazing time at the Lakeside Grove Cottage. The amenities were perfect for my family. We have 2 little boys that loved the beautiful yard and summer porch. We made a fire in the fire pit at night. The cottage itself was very clean and perfectly equipped for cooking. The front porch was a great place in the morning for coffee and blowing bubbles and in the evening for enjoying a glass of wine. The walk to the beach was relatively easy. I would absolutely recommend the Lakeside cottage to anyone who wants a fun and relaxing get-away.
i loved your place. alittle farther from the beach than i'm used too.
a few more lights in the cottage would be helpful and a few good sharp knifes for cutting /cooking would be great.
loved the fire pit and it was just cozy.
felt comfortable from the moment i got there till i left.
Brought my grandmothers and sisters - four of us in total - in from all over the country for a weekend getaway in this charming cottage. I have rented several places in the area and this one stands out. The gorgeous and lush backyard makes it feel like your own private estate and there was everything we could have wanted on hand, including updated appliances and a grill. The beach is close, maybe a 5-7 minute walk, but we drove and parked. Easy! The Lakeside shops and antique markets just around the block made for a fun few hours. The owners were fabulous to work with too. Highly recommended.
This little cabin was quite a treat. We stayed with 4 adults and 3 children - 2 in diapers. The large yard was great for the kids to place and there was plenty of room inside as well. It is well appointed but very comfortable for a family with kids. Truly wish we could have stayed longer. Just a little sad that we will outgrow the single bathroom by next summer. The owner is super communicative and happy to help with any needs. Thanks for a great weekend!
