Welcome to Wildwoods Cabin, an experience you will always remember. Recently built, Wildwoods Cabin is a very modern 4 bedroom, 3 bath “cabin in the woods” overlooking the peaceful Moose River near Sterling, Alaska. The builder has harvested interesting stone and unique wild woods from years of roaming the Alaskan wilderness and has brought it all together to create the beautiful masterpiece that is the Wildwoods Cabin, all for your exclusive lodging experience.
Read a book by the gas fireplace with the beautiful burled spruce mantel and enjoy the towering stone and wild wood wall above the black granite bar. The kitchen with cherry cabinets is fully equipped for whatever culinary delights you are ready to create.
Fresh fruit, cereals, coffee, and teas are ready for your mornings. Relax in the soaking tub and large walk-in shower of the master bathroom. The large deck overlooking the river with its grill and dining area is also a bird lover's dream location to watch 60 known species throughout the year.
Trumpeter swans and many other waterfowl make this a favorite feeding stop on spring and fall migrations. Moose enjoy feeding in the river at sunrise and sunset. Bear, caribou, coyotes, wolves, otter and mink wander through on occasion. Breathe in the fresh scents from the rock gardens and flower beds built into the surrounding terrain. Stroll the path to the river and soak up the wildlife from the benches on the dock. Take off in the canoe for a leisurely paddle up the Moose River. Or after a day of fishing, hiking, or sightseeing, you can return to the luxurious surroundings of the cabin.
Wildwoods Cabin was built and furnished by Robert Kuiper, Alaska's master log furniture builder who focuses on bringing the beauty of Alaska's woods and rivers indoors and incorporating them into beds, tables, and chairs. Of special interest are the beautiful end tables created from the log remains of the new Iditarod Burled Arch in Nome, of which Robert built in 2000.

We stay at many VRBO homes. When we arrive at the home for the first time and walk in, I'm waiting for the family to provide feedback on how well I did in selecting the home. Wildwoods Cabin got rave reviews from the family and I heard several "thanks Dad" and "this is just perfect" from my wife and our adult children.
Aside from the amazing build of the home and the excellent craftsmanship Bob put into the special woodwork throughout the house, the location on the Moose River is very peaceful and private. It looks deceivingly small from the outside but is quite roomy on the inside - large bedrooms, two large living areas, nice sized kitchen. You'll love staying here.
We found the Sterling/Soldotna area an excellent location to stay on the Kenai Peninsula. It is about 2 hours from Homer and 2 hours from Seward. If you stay in either of those locations, you have to make a 4 hour drive around the peninsula to get to the other city. Soldotna is 15 minutes away with everything you need to stock up for your stay.
Bob's email providing directions ended with this statement. "Wildwoods Cabin will not disappoint." He is exactly right. Choose this home and move on with planning your trip.
Thanks Bob and Judy. Hope we make it back to Alaska from Tennessee. If so, we'll look you up.
My husband and I could not have been happier as we enjoyed our family get together at this gorgeous place. I can't think of anything the owners have left out that could have made our stay any better. The nearby Moose River was full of swans which we could photograph from the cabin as well as by the riverside. This spacious home is clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything from the bedding to the kitchen to the gas grill on the expansive deck. The artistic details from the woodwork/rock work and outdoor landscaping are what make this cabin truly unique. The owners want you to get the most out of your stay be it sightseeing, hiking, fishing, birding, relaxing, etc.
I would not hesitate to recommend this cabin as stays like this make lasting memories!
We stayed for a week at Wildwoods Cabin and could not have been more happy with the accommodations. Two couples shared the cabin and we had so much room and privacy. We were wowed with the beautiful surroundings and the artistic detail present wherever we looked. After a full day of fishing for silver salmon, the cabin was so relaxing to come home to for a relaxing evening. We cooked nearly every evening, we just wanted to spend as much time as possible at the cabin. We canoed on the Moose River, sat on the dock, and relaxed each evening on the deck. The owners provided so many niceties, from washer and dryer (soap and softener provided) to a stocked spice cabinet; from shampoo and conditioner to cold drinks, breakfast foods and a bowl of fruit; and from hand carved walking sticks to high quality dinnerware, pots and pans. Thank you to the owners for making our fantastic Alaska vacation even more enjoyable!
We recently spent 7 nights here and it could not have been a more comfortable stay. We wanted someplace private and clean but not too far to drive to Soldotna and Kenai- this was it. We had my two parents with my husband and I, along with our two kids ages 4 and 7 months and there was plenty of room for us all. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked, we would have had everything we needed for breakfast the next day had we not stopped at the store already. The beds were all very comfortable, which is a great surprise when you're on vacation:) The canoe was also fun for us- we paddled down to the sterling highway bridge and stopped short where the Moose River meets the Kenai. We even ran into a couple of the Kilchers while at lunch in town! We made day trips to Homer, Seward, and Kenai- a little bit of a drive but not bad. My 4 year old loved the bunk beds and the highchair was awesome for my baby. Our last night there a couple of moose were on the road in to the cabin, awesome! We saw so much wildlife everywhere we went! Again, a wonderfully Clean! and private place to stay!!!
Wildwoods Cabin had everything that we imagined an Alaskan vacation cabin should have. Fireplace, gazebo, propane grill, riverfront location and view, and custom log furniture and decor throughout the cabin. There was also all the comforts of home such as Wifi, flat screen tv and a spacious kitchen. Located off the main highway, this location is quiet and relaxing yet close enough to Soldotna to make a quick run into town for shopping and dining. The deck and gazebo is the ideal place to have a beer while the sun is setting. I also liked the large closets which allowed us to keep the suitcases out of the way and our clothes hung up. If I am in the Kenai again, I would definitely try to rent out this place again.
This lodging truly was crafted with love and an eye for detail. The cabin and furnishings were in their natural habitat. Every time we looked around we saw something new and unique. The owner/builder has a God given talent of looking at a piece of wood and crafting it into either functional furniture or trim. It was clean and neat; well maintained; kitchen utensils well stocked; cereal, coffee, tea, condiments in the cupboards; refrigerator had orange juice and milk stocked; gas grill on the deck; an easy walking path to the river with two benches waiting to be used. Excellent quality bedding and linens. Four senior couples enjoyed a brief, but too short stay; definitely will return if the opportunity arises.
