My husband & I own the cabin along with my retired parents. My husband is busy as Principal of a K-8 charter school in the Denver area, so my parents and I are the primary managers of the property. My parents were linguists, living in Peru, South America, for over 40 years. I was an English/Writing teacher for years but now work part time out of our home. We love to get away to our mountain retreat and hope that you will enjoy the peaceful quiet as much as we do.
Ruth purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Ruth chose Estes Park
My Great-Great Grandfather was a homesteader in Estes Park. Our branch of the family moved away from Colorado, but my father remembers spending summers in Estes park in the 1940's. Several of our family are living back in Colorado, and now we're thrilled to have a cabin in Estes Park where we can build memories with our children. In our completely unbiased opinion, Estes Park is the most beautiful year round vacation spot in the U.S.
What makes this Cabin unique
Because the cabin faces Southeast, I love sitting in front of the picture window and watching the sun rise over the mountains. Likewise, the gazebo offers stunning views at sunset with the clouds turning pink and orange all around. And on full moon nights, the view is spectacular! The full kitchen and gas grill help to make life easy for us: eating dinner outside on the patio is always refreshing. Most afternoons, a family of deer meanders through the property on their way down the mountain. Our children love to climb the mountain behind the cabin and even play cellphone hide-and-seek among the trees, rocks, and outcroppings. As a family, we often walk the 20 minute trail skirting the mountain and ending up at the Moraine Park Museum. From there, we can take the summer shuttle bus almost anywhere in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Also a short walk away but at the bottom of the hill, we can take the free Estes Park shuttle bus into town in the summer and not worry about parking. Other times of year, we are a short 5 minute drive from downtown.

Great location! Kitchen had everything we needed... even without an oven. Crock pot and toaster oven we're just fine. We loved the table! Mattresses need replacing and sofa, but over all a great little cabin. Heaters worked great! We had deer visit every day while we ate lunch at the gazebo.
Cozy Cabin, Oct. 14-18
The cabin was the perfect size. The kitchen was FANTASTIC and the bathroom was great, too. The queen sized bed was very comfortable. My concerns were: 1. the towels and wash cloths were terribly mildewed and made my skin smell like that all day. I finally found one bath towel that didn't smell and luckily had one of my own hand towels. 2. the chair next to the couch broke the first time I sat on it and tried to lift the foot-rest portion. 3. the couch was really uncomfortable to sit on. 4. there were dirty wash cloths left from either the previous renters or the cleaning person, and there was a used tissue on the nightstand. I wouldn't mind staying here again if these issues were resolved. I still had a great time though! (I needed a choice in between "I loved it" and "Not really." ;)
I'm disappointed that this stay was less than stellar. For future guests, please let me know if something is unsatisfactory, and I will do my best to fix the problem. I noticed the broken foot rest on the recliner after this guest left. It is fixed, and there are new cushions on the couch.
Bowen family weekend
We had a very nice stay. The cabin was clean, the beds were comfortable it was nice having TV and cable. I would make 1 suggestion to replace sofa & recliner they were extremely uncomfortable. But this would not keep me from staying again. Deer & Elk wandering through the area. Nice and close to town also so we enjoyed shopping, the art festival, and toured the Stanley Hotel.
The cabin was very clean, cozy and convenient to the RMNP and downtown Estes Park.
The kitchen is absolutely awesome. The cabin is very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there and highly recommend it to friends and family.
Great location, adequate comfort and great for the dog.
Enjoyed our stay! Given the rate I was apprehensive about how comfortable the beds would be, but the queen bed was surprisingly comfortable and my twenty-somethings were perfectly comfortable in the bunk beds. Only suggestion is that the couch and matching chair in the living room look fine but the springs are shot and badly need to be replaced. We would definitely rent this property again.
Great place to stay! Would stay again!
Our stay at the cabin was fantastic. The location of the cabin was great and it was only a few minutes drive to RMNP and Estes Park. The owner is very responsive and helpful. The cabin was the perfect place to spend our evenings after being out exploring the surrounding area. Everything we needed was provided. The beds in the bedrooms were comfortable and the space, while limited, is well utilized. I would definitely stay here again if we came back to the area.
There is no better place to relax then on the side of Eagle Cliff Mountain! You can hike into the Rocky Mountain National Park or drive in without having to fight the tourist traffic in town. Eagle Cliff Mountain offers easy access to the YMCA of the Rockies, many nice restaurants and a small corner grocers, once again, without having to fight the tourist traffic in town.
