Estes Park Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-7)

This 1935 Cabin retains its old world mountain charm with restored original hardwood floors, cedar wall accents, and split log siding. At the same time it incorporates all modern conveniences necessary for a comfortable stay including a new kitchen, bathroom and energy efficient windows, one of which is a picture window allowing perfect views of the sunrise. Heating units keep the cabin cozy even on chilly nights.

Get away to this quiet retreat just steps away from Rocky Mountain National Park. Why not climb Eagle Cliff Mountain, rising behind the cabin. Or shop the unique stores in quaint downtown Estes Park. In the evenings, relax under the gazebo with 365 degree views of the mountains and watch for the family of deer that meanders through the property most days.

The cabin is open year round, allowing you to experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountains in any season or during any holiday.

About Ruth

My husband & I own the cabin along with my retired parents. My husband is busy as Principal of a K-8 charter school in the Denver area, so my parents and I are the primary managers of the property. My parents were linguists, living in Peru, South America, for over 40 years. I was an English/Writing teacher for years but now work part time out of our home. We love to get away to our mountain retreat and hope that you will enjoy the peaceful quiet as much as we do.

Ruth purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Ruth chose Estes Park

My Great-Great Grandfather was a homesteader in Estes Park. Our branch of the family moved away from Colorado, but my father remembers spending summers in Estes park in the 1940's. Several of our family are living back in Colorado, and now we're thrilled to have a cabin in Estes Park where we can build memories with our children. In our completely unbiased opinion, Estes Park is the most beautiful year round vacation spot in the U.S.

What makes this cabin unique

Because the cabin faces Southeast, I love sitting in front of the picture window and watching the sun rise over the mountains. Likewise, the gazebo offers stunning views at sunset with the clouds turning pink and orange all around. And on full moon nights, the view is spectacular! The full kitchen and gas grill help to make life easy for us: eating dinner outside on the patio is always refreshing. Most afternoons, a family of deer meanders through the property on their way down the mountain. Our children love to climb the mountain behind the cabin and even play cellphone hide-and-seek among the trees, rocks, and outcroppings. As a family, we often walk the 20 minute trail skirting the mountain and ending up at the Moraine Park Museum. From there, we can take the summer shuttle bus almost anywhere in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Also a short walk away but at the bottom of the hill, we can take the free Estes Park shuttle bus into town in the summer and not worry about parking. Other times of year, we are a short 5 minute drive from downtown.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have enjoyed wonderful days in the cabin in Estes Park and in the Rocky Mountain National Park with its magnificent scenery-- appreciated all the more when there is a comfortable "home-away-from-home" to return to in the evening. You have decorated and furnished it so great. Don't think you have missed anything.

This cabin is small. My step-dad couldn't really stand-up straight in this cabin, let alone the shower (which was very gross, it's a no wonder the curtains were hiding it in the photos). My parents left 2 days early cause they couldn't stand anymore time there. It was very upsetting. I don't think anyone taller than 5'5 should stay there. The only thing nice about the cabin is the kitchen. We were very disappointed.

Owner's Response: Yes, Cozy Cabin was built in 1935 and is small: 600 sq ft with low 6ft 6in ceilings, small door frames, small bedrooms, and an add-on bathroom. Our 6ft family members are fine, but this cabin is not recommended for taller people. We don't know when the bathroom was added on, but it is admittedly small and basic. We keep it sparkling clean.

Completely happy

  • 5 of 5

We could not of loved this cabin any more then we did. It was just perfect for my family of 3. The cabin was super clean, the kitchen is fully equipped for meals. Table outside is perfect any time of the day! Beds are very comfy and my son loved the bunk bed. He could watch the deer from his bedroom window! 10 minutes from downtown, 5 from Rocky Mountain national park. We will definitely be back next year! Oh, and eat at the tavern down the road, best dinner we had!

Quaint rusticity, great views and outdoor space

  • 5 of 5

Really loved staying here. Had everything you'd need, all basics covered (only missing washer/dryer). But went out to Colorado for the simplicity of the outdoors and the beauty of the area and the cabin was a perfect place to stay for this.

Small, cozy cabin

  • 2 of 5

This place was pretty small, but it had all the items we needed for a few days stay in Estes Park. However, the garbage disposal didn't work for us which was gross. The water accumulated and made a mess in the sink. We were also cold at night even with the heat on. There weren't enough warm blankets to cuddle up with. We stayed for 4 nights and not one night did I get a good night's rest. This left me exhausted during my Estes Park time and I was thankful to get home for a full 8 hours of sleep. I am usually a good sleeper, but not if I'm cold.

Owner's Response: We did have an issue with the garbage disposal once about a year ago and called the plumber immediately. It may be time to get that replaced. When things do not work properly in this old cabin, we so appreciate guests letting us know right away so that we can get it working again and make your stay more pleasant. The cabin has a heater in each bedroom, and two in the main living area. We make up each bed with a blanket and a quilt and have extra blankets in both bedroom closets. Even in the middle of winter with negative temperatures, our guests are cozy and warm.

We really enjoyed the elk at our door, the little chipmunks and birds. The view was breathtaking. The cabin was comfortable and clean with all the amenities we needed. We would definitely return for another stay.

Ruth's cabin is perfect. We stayed the last week in March. The views are amazing. Inside the cabin is perfect very nicely decorated. The kitchen is well equipped, The pull out sofa was very comfortable usually they are not. Even the bathroom soaps where handmade. We had a wonderful time here. I would rent again without hesitation.

There is no better place to relax then on the side of Eagle Cliff Mountain! You can hike into the Rocky Mountain National Park or drive in without having to fight the tourist traffic in town. Eagle Cliff Mountain offers easy access to the YMCA of the Rockies, many nice restaurants and a small corner grocers, once again, without having to fight the tourist traffic in town.
