We first visited Nova Scotia in 2001 and fell in love with the area, people and food. The pristine landscapes and panoramic ocean views are magnificent and just the thing we need for a relaxing vacation. Our children have made many friends with the kids their own age and enjoy visiting them every summer. Coming to Yarmouth is one of our most treasured family spots and we hope to continue to do so for many years to come.
David Robinette purchased this house in 2005
One reason we love Yarmouth is because it's like taking a step back in time to the small southern towns we grew up in during the 60's. The townsfolk are so welcoming that you feel right at home while there. The local seafood is to die for...fresh lobster, clams and scallops are just a few of the varieties available. Another reason we love Nova Scotia is the milder summer temperatures to be enjoyed rather than the hot southern heat and high humidity we are used to experiencing.
As we walk into our house, we feel just like 'we are home!' It's home'y' atmosphere welcomes us back year after year. Taking walks along the harbour, riding bikes through the town, walking downtown for breakfast, sitting on the upper floor watching the birds & boats & dolphins, having a lobster cookout on the deck, or just reading or napping on the veranda are some of our most favorite things to do while here. It is definitely a place to come for a time-to-unwind from our busy life in the states.
We had a great time in Atlantic Canada and enjoyed our stay at your fine house in Yarmouth.
I do have a couple of friends that will be visiting Nova Scotia next year and would like to refer them to you.
The attic space was enjoyed immensely by two late teens. It was their private retreat. The main floor was spacious and the kitchen well equipped. The laundry space was also appreciated. The outside of the house badly needs to be repainted. The surrounding front porch also needs work. The view from the deck is wonderful but some rungs of the deck are missing and making it unsafe for young children. Some chairs or a suitable table to go with the pub style chairs would also make the deck space more useable and enjoyable. We really enjoyed our time in this home.
Harbourview definitely fit the bill. It was close to the town centre and restaurants and the view of the Yarmouth Harbour was wonderful. From the first moment of entering the house, we were very pleased with the large, open rooms and the comfortable furnishings. Each room was well equipped with everything we needed. The large back deck was the perfect place for a morning coffee or watching the sun set in the evening. The four couples that shared the house for the week were all pleased with the accomodations and would not hesitate to want to stay at Harbourview again. Highly recommended.
Talk about a great location and a fabulous house !!!! We two couples throoughly enjoyed this tastefully decorated and beautifully antique-laiden home. Entertaining was a delight when we invited friends to join us there. Not only did we have a good time walking the Captains' House Tour, but also checking out the local lighthouse and its grounds. An AMAZING surprise discovery was our exploration of the Yarmouth Museum - what a treat !
This home was perfect for our needs. It was centrally located in Yarmouth and was a good launching point for day trips and family visits in the area. It has a great view of the harbor and we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the big deck out back. The home is very spacious and can easily accommodate large groups/families. The owner was helpful and all the details went smoothly.
Truly beautiful home with everything needed to prepare meals as simple or fancy as you like. The harbour views were so lovely and restful. The bedrooms were comfortable and beautifully furnished, as was the whole house. Easy walk to grocery. It was a wonderful choice to vacation with our grown children. Plenty of space for everyone. Lots of history was discovered. Good restaurants nearby. I definitely recommend this home. The owner was easy to work with and the home spotless.
Great view of harbour entrance from large back deck and top two floors of home. Lots of room in this large charming home with everything one might need.
The house is at 38 Main Street - very convenient to everything in town.
