The Ivy Vista Beach house was build after Katrina. The surrounding streets and walkways are all new. West Side Park protects the view on the west side. The Park has orthopedic track, playground, water play pad along with plenty of room to stretch out. The beach and pier are public however this area has just enough people around to avoid feeling alone however is seldom crowded. Brand new pier extends at least 250 feet out from beach.
Local West Side Community center has activities for seniors as well as exercise equipment.
Ivy Vista is elevated at height over 8 ft above Katrina flood level and the house was built to withstand winds beyond any that have ever hit the Mississippi Coast. The elevation allows ample parking under the house including parking for a boat or extra cars for 'Cruising the Coast.'
The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds and a queen sleeper sofa. HD Flat screen in living room with couch and TV in both Bedrooms with Queen Beds. Master bed is memory foam mattress.
Kitchen is well stocked with utensils.

This photo of my Wife and I is California. You may note that the sand is no different way out there. We enjoy traveling and have a beach Rendezvous every year with the National Center for Fathering (just google 'Fathers'). We like to vacation with our family as well. My wife is a OBGYN in Jackson, MS and I do business and Real Estate Development. We built this house in anticipation of building more for the Coast and then decided to turn it into a vacation house October of 2009. The main reason we wanted to keep it was so we can FISH on the Mississippi coast. I am an avid outdoors man, but keep it quiet about how good it is in Mississippi to keep the competition down.

Why stay at a casino or in a noisy high rise when you can have a home of your own in a great location for cruising 90, on a fishing trip or just to relax and eat seafood.
Please know that while many of our guest may find us through VRBO this house is managed by Rental Resources therefore there are no direct links back to customers who do stay here. Therefore reviews are not solicited. If you have stayed here, we do hope to hear from you especially if you have had good times with your family. We do everything possible to keep the house from being abused by the wrong type of guest and encourage its use by families.
The house was in a great location close to the beach. We enjoyed spending time on the deck. The park, which is just about the only thing between the house and the beach, was great for the kids. They liked the splash pad and playground, and I even used the jogging track. The beaches were nice with soft white sand and not crowded. The house was clean, and we found plenty of amenities for cooking and grilling. The owner was great to work with and offered prompt responses to our inquiries.
I contacted the owner very last minute in an attempt to find a place to spend a quiet new years eve away from New Orleans with my dogs and he was extremely prompt and friendly with answering my inquiry and we were able to spend a wonderful NYE there (and the next night). It's a very comfortable house that is decorated nicely and without clutter. There are ample blankets, pillows, towels and a wonderful porch and seating outside.
The owner was an excellent communicator and was available for all my questions as soon as they came up even in the middle of new years eve (thank you!!!). The house was very clean and the kitchen well stocked with utensils, paper towels, coffee, and such...
I'd love to return when it's warmer and take advantage of the beach more, but this time it was perfect for the dogs to run around in.
Note to other dog owners - dogs are NOT allowed on the beach even on leash. Because it was winter i think no one minded (there were literally no people on the beach and i also clean up thoroughly after them) but I think it would be a problem when the weather is nice.
There is also an amazing sushi restaurant on the main strip. I forget the name but it's right next to Great American Tattoo. Coming from the West Coast (Portland, OR - foodie country) - I am picky about my sushi and this was outstanding.
We had 4 couples that shared this great beach house and the accommodations worked out great - plenty of room for all. The house is very well stocked with linens and cooking supplies. Very clean!! All of us enjoyed our coffee on the deck each morning as the sun was coming up over the Gulf. Since we were in town for Crusin on the Coast and had two classics, several neighbors came by and visited - very friendly folks. The owner has been great to work with and hopefully we can rent again next year.
FABULOUS!! We booked Ivy Vista for a family getaway just before school resumed. The owner was responsive, great to work with, and makes the house a special delight with "surprises" such as coffee, cooking staples, and condiments. It also has ample linens, bedding and kitchen ware. Ivy Vista also boasts a gas grill, and lovely deck with an attractive table, which is a delight for early morning coffee overlooking the Gulf. The house was clean, in good repair and well located. We will stay again.

The house is best suited for a single family or two couples with small children. Hewever consideration must be given to the house being elevated when including small children.
