Jody and David:
We were so busy and then I didn't get a chance to leave a note of appreciation and thanks. My family and I had a wonderful time in Charlevoix and surrounding areas. We went to Mackinac Island, zip lining at Boyne, dinner and shopping in Petoskey, water park, and met some family for a night in Boyne city. The Red Mesa Grill was excellent.
We found your beach house fantastic, so comfortable in every way! You had everything there to make our stay so enjoyable and carefree. I laughed when I went to look for (and found) the first aid kit. (My 10 year old scraped her toe on the beach - small cut) My husband prides himself in keeping a "deluxe" first aid kit in our house. So, when I found yours - I laughed! It was even more organized and "deluxe" than his.
The master bed was heavenly to sleep on and the girls liked having their own space in the twin bedroom. You have a very beautiful house and a great spot in Charlevoix!! We will definitely recommend this rental to our friends. Thank you so much for helping us have a terrific vacation and experience. I hope you had a nice and safe 4th of July.
when first looking at this listing i was a little iffy. but once we got to the house i was blown away. the house was the perfect size, fitting the 2 adults 3 teenage girls and a dog perfectly. the master bath was beautiful. the main bathroom was not the best but it did okay. the master bedroom was great a just the right size. and the bed was comfortable too. the bedroom with the bunkbeds was small but fit all of stuff the two teenage girls brought , and trust me it was alot. the closet made everything alot easier. the last bedroom was BEAUTIFUL the style and everything just was amazingly cute. the whole feel and decoration of the house really made you feel like you were on vacation.
the location of the house is really perfect. it is not even a minute walk to the beach and is on a little street with hardly any traffic. it is just a few steps to the canal which will take you to downtown charlevoix in a matter of minutes. it was really convenate. the only time that the area of the house got busy was around sunset. and even then it wasn't bad. the beach was beautiful, though the first meter into the water is rocky. but after that it is smooth sailing. i defiantly recommend going in on a wavy day and playing in the waves. dowtown is great. the best place for ice cream is kilwins. you have to try their waffle cones. but if you are in the mood for chocolate peanut butter ice cream try murdiks.
things to try
- cook a meal on the beach, there is a grill and the environment makes everything taste better
- rent a speedboat from the marina in town for a day. and dont forget to rent a tube too
- kayak on torche lake
I just spent a week at this cottage, and it was wonderful. I am single and have spent my summers growing up in Charlevoix and just wanted to be able to stay for a week and have friends join. You couldn't ask for a better location! A 5 minute walk to town and about a minute from Lake Michigan beach for swimming and Sunsets! I went days without driving my car.
This cottage was well laid out, and decorated perfect! It had a very welcoming feel. There was also ample supplies needed for everything you may want to do. Including beach chairs, toys, umbrellas, grilling tools, etc. I was impressed by the quality of things supplied such as Calphalon cook wear and quality dishes and glassware and plenty of it!
The dog friendly owners made it possible to have your pet, as well which made it nice. Jody was always quick to respond to my questions and very helpful! The in house washer and dryer was also a bonus!
I had seen some comments in regards to the cottage having no air, but I would say, it never got to an uncomfortable point. they provide ample fans and with the location so close to the lake, there was always a nice breeze. I never found it to be an issue.
I would certainly recommend this location to those seeking to fully enjoy Charlevoix!
We just stayed at this cottage for my son's wedding. It was in a perfect location to walk to the beach, pier and into town. The cottage was very clean and nicely appointed. Great choice!
We just rented this cottage for two weeks and had a great time with our two small kids. The Cottage is very well maintained, well equipped and only 30 seconds walking distance from a beautiful sandy beach (with large playground). The location is perfect: walking distance into town, to the beach, to a big, new library and only a few miles driving distance from hiking places. Most importantly: the owners were friendly and concerned about our well-being from start to finish. Definitely recommend this vacation rental.
What a wonderful vacation. The cottage was very clean & comfortable. It's location is perfect for walking to the beach, river walkway and to the charming town of Charlevoix. Our party included my husband and I & our little dog; as well as my parents. We took nightly trips to the lighthouse to watch & phototgraph sunsets. Our miniature schnuazer Max loved the walks to town along the Pine River walkway. Our vacation began with Sunday Mass at St. Mary's. We enjoyed concerts in the park and day trips to Harbor Springs,Petsoskey,Traverse City & the enchanting Castle Farms. The fresh cherries were a treat and the search for Petoskey stones was a great adventure! We definatley recommend this property! Thank you - Shawn, Lisa & Max, Howard & Ann. PS - Our only suggestion to the owners would be to consider air condtioning.
