Arundel House is one of South Haven's many historic buildings. Since its renovation 10 years ago it's become a masterpiece.
We kept the old style of the house with the big open front porch for visiting with friends and watching the lovely summer days go by, as well as 2 decks in the back of the house to see the boats passing on the river.
We figured a big kitchen would be a necessity for such a giant house so we've got one armed with all the equipment and style for your favorite home away from home.
There's also a beautiful dining room for those special occasions and on those cold summer nights after the magnificent Lake Michigan sunsets you can come in and warm your toes by the new fire place.
If you would like a special place to spend your Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall days look no further then Arundel House!
There is also a family sitting room on the second floor for the kids to have their books and toys.
We've kept 8 bedrooms in the house. With an incredible master suite with views of the front and back of the house off it's own private deck. There's two other good size double bedrooms on the second floor with a lovely bathroom to share. The third floor also has 3 bedrooms. One larger bedroom with it's own bathroom and 2 double bedrooms sharing another bathroom. We added a basement bedroom last year which sleeps 6. It consists of two sets of bunk beds and a queen size bed. This is a great room for the kids or maybe a family with younger children.
We haven't forgotten about our very convenient ground floor bedroom. Sometimes there's someone in the group who would like to be downstairs. Perhaps you have a baby who needs a warm bottle in the middle of the night, or maybe someone who doesn't care for climbing stairs. Our downstairs bedroom is perfect.
All of the bedrooms have storage for your belongings and comfy beds for sleepy mornings.
Arundel House is the perfect location. One block to the beach with an abundance of restaurants and specialty stores minutes away.
I would like to point out that there are some gorgeous new properties across the street from Arundel House. Unfortunately the new houses have blocked some, but not all of Arundel Houses views.
We started coming to South Haven 7 years ago and knew we had to have a property of our own for when we can visit. We have always loved this house and now that we're making it into a dream home were sure we won't be it's only admirers.
Amenities: Two car garage, big open front porch and deck in the back of the house with outdoor furniture, gas grill, outdoor shower, outdoor staircase leading from the top of the house to the bottom, fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, microwave, oven, stove, refrigerator, extra refrigerator in basement, dishes, pots, pans, silverware, vacuum system, air conditioning, table, chairs, island with bar stools, cozy sitting area in the kitchen, dining room with table and chairs, family room with comfy chairs, sofa, tables, fireplace, washer and dryer on second floor, 7 beds, nightstands, plenty of leisure space, plenty of parking, Television with DVD player, stereo, telephone for local calls. There is internet at the house, but there are often times when it doesn't work very well or work at all. The same thing can happen with cell phones. It's not just Arundel House though, it happens all over the properties at North Beach.
Unfortunately after years of destruction to Arundel House we have no choice, but to not under any circumstance rent to young groups, even if they have adult chaperones. If we have guests arriving at the house who are clearly young groups with or without chaperones they will not be let in and will be turned away. Please don't attempt to book the house if this is your situation.
Next year our Summer weeks will run from a Friday to Friday.
