About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6

If you appreciate architecture and design you will love Casa Pura Vida! Our newly painted and "spruced up" home is beautifully designed and decorated with tongue and groove ceilings , and hand crafted arched windows and doors throughout. There are huge decks upstairs and downstairs with a hammock and Adirondack chairs right outside the bedrooms and living area . Our stair rails and deck rails are artistically sculpted as wrought iron leaves.

It is important to us that our guests feel the quality of being in a home, rather than a 'house rental' or hotel. We have decorated with love and attention as if we were inviting our closest friends to come visit.

Our house backs into the rainforest. Each day Titi monkeys and white faced monkeys play in the creek right off the deck. It is in the back of a residential neighborhood so it has the feeling of home, rather than a tourist destination. The property is not so secluded that you feel desolate. You will love relaxing by our pool. We are five minutes from Quepos and Manuel Antonio.

Great location, comfortable house and amazing nature

  • 4 of 5

Every morning monkeys would come visit - white face or howler monkeys and eat he mangos in the trees. They would wake you quite often dropping mangos on the tin roof. We even had the opportunity to see the white face monkeys trying to run off a boa constrictor in the trees. Iguanas and even a Jesus lizard was seen daily on the property, the lizard even gave us a show one day running across the pool.

The house was in good shape, there were only four suggestions. There were a lot of light bulbs burnt out in the house, we actually moved some around while there. The screens downstairs could used replacing where there are holes, needed since no ac downstairs. The 2nd fan in the living area needs to be replaced, it doesn't work and the living area could really use a new couch, such as a sectional to make it more comfortable for the family during a rainstorm or hanging out in the evening.

Our stay was great and would highly recommend the house and location. We had a car and it was within minutes of everything we wanted to do in the area. The laundry room came in very handy during our stay.

This is a special home, you'll feel it the moment you walk up.

  • 5 of 5

What a great vacation home, we loved it and we will definitely be back again! This home is very comfortable and clean, looks like its been freshly furnished and painted inside and out. We loved the indoor/outdoor living with the huge balcony overlooking a lush little creek - the beautiful pool with plenty of patio space for hanging out. The outdoor living comes with monkeys daily, I am not kidding. The home is very comfortable, charming, and special. Plenty of private space and shared space for our family. Its located in a neighborhood so you feel a little like a local. Close to beaches, grocery stores, local restaurants, 5 star restaurants, shopping, and fun adventure options. Something for everyone, great location.

Our tropical getaway at Casa Puravida!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had such a wonderful time at Casa Puravida during our tropical vacation! The house was extremely comfortable and we loved the plush landscaping! We got to see so much wildlife on the property such as monkeys, iguanas, birds and even a sloth! The beds were super cozy and I drank my coffee daily in the hammock on the patio. This was a perfect size home for us and we absolutely enjoyed cooling off in the pool after a day at the beach or site seeing. The home has been well kept and newly renovated. Would definitely come here again!

Nice home but needs a little more upkeep

  • 3 of 5

We got referred to this home by Paula of Jungle Creek Vacation Rental next door. Both Paula and Penny, the owner, were very nice and responsive. Overall, it was a nice house with a lot of character. It has a jungle setting that is very nice, although houses in the area are very close to each other, you don't have a lot of privacy. We also find it needing some more upkeep to be more comfortable. The windows and screens need cleaning and the draperies downstairs are in need of replacement. The big couch in the living room has stains and look dirty. Due to the lack of airiness in the living area downstairs, plus the heat and humidity of Costa Rican weather, it would have been nice if the downstair space has air conditioning so it will be more pleasant for us to spend time together in the living room. As it is, we end up spending most of our time in the house upstairs in the two bedrooms with AC. The bedrooms and the sheets were neat, clean and comfortable though. The draperies in the bedrooms were new as well. The kitchen was small and the dining area only had seating for 4. I like the spiral staircase but it is a bit of a challenge to haul big luggages up this staircase to the bedrooms upstairs. The washer and dryer were outside in a basement-like room that also doubles as storage. The screen door to this room is in need of cleaning as well. As this is the last leg of our Costa Rican trip, we spent both days at two different nearby beaches, which were very nice. Overall, we had a nice time in Manuel Antonio/Quepos. Thanks again, Penny, for sharing your home with us, and Paula, for your hospitality!

Owner's Response: Hi Johnson....we are happy to let you know that since your stay at Casa Pura Vida we have worked hard to correct these things. We had the house completely painted inside and out, refinished the exterior windows and doors, cleaned all windows and screens, replaced the refrigerator and sofa, and did some sprucing up on the decorating. I hope that you can come back and see us again to enjoy all the upgrades!

Review #6455035 warm hospitality

Our few days in Casa Pura Vida were just like it's name. it was living the good life. The home was spotless and big enough for our family of five. The pool was a lovely addition to have after a hot day. We got rained out one day and it was great to sit on the balcony and watch the weather. We also enjoyed the visiting monkeys from the balcony. The beds/mattresses are huge and very comfortable. There was good air conditioning in the bedrooms, which helped. We ate some of our meals in and had enough utensils to cook a real meal. There are restaurants close by as well. Manuel Antonio park is either a taxi or an inexpensive bus ride away. The bus stops across the street from Casa Pura Vida. My kids enjoyed the surfing but the waves were a bit too challenging for beginner/intermediate surfers. The best part was that Penny and Chris were helpful and hospitable and available to answer any and all questions. all in all, a highly recommendable place to stay in Manuel Antonio.
