About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Enjoy this tastefully furnished 3 bedroom 3 bath home single story home built at ground level with no steps to climb. The home is located between Gulf Shores beaches and historic Fairhope. Shopping is nearby and restaurants are plentiful. The sugar white beaches of the Gulf of Mexico ( Gulf Shores ) are just 20 minute drive. There is also a white sand beach in the bay less than a quarter of a mile away. Some of the Gulf coast's best restaurants are just minutes away. The home is less than a 1/4 of a mile from a former World renowned Tarpon fishing lodge that attracted guests from afar in the early 1900's (there is an exhibit at the Weeks Bay interpretive center (brochure (PDF) - Weeks Bay Foundation.

Bring your kayak, canoe, boat or jet-ski to explore the national protected estuary of Weeks Bay known for its' overabundance of wildlife or just take it all in while sitting on the home's oversize deck cooled by the mammoth live oak tree and the cool breeze coming off the water. There is plenty of comfortable outdoor furniture along with a table and chairs to dine and a full size gas grill for cookouts.

Rest and relax in this tranquil and picturesque setting and watch the dolphins swim by and the pelicans dive the bay. Take in the natural landscaping with the moss-draped oak trees and wildlife as you sit on the decks and covered pier. The home faces the West to treat you to Mother Nature’s daily canvas of new colors from the grand sunsets over the water. Life is good at Weeks Bay!

About Ed

We purchased this property in 2007 to be closer to our family in the Fairhope and Gulf Shores Alabama area. This is a custom built home built on a beautiful lot with centuries old oak trees and great waterfront viewing of the bay. It is a very comfortable home that we enjoy fishing, boating and water sports. Weeks Bay adjoins Mobile Bay and is fed by two fresh water rivers, the Magnolia and the Fish rivers which provide for the best fishing for both freshwater to saltwater varieties of fish. The home's pier is a known local hotspot that inshore professional fishing guides bring their customer to fish by boat. The pier is located over the top of the main tidal flow path of the bay. There is also oyster beds near that are natural fish attractors. Weeks Bay is a protected natural estuary that is off limits to shrimping. Biologists project that 90% of all shrimp caught in state waters come from Weeks Bay. The ban of harvesting shrimp greatly increases the quantity of bait. Shrimping impacts both the shrimp population and all the other bait fish caught by their nets.

Ed purchased this house in 2007

Why Ed chose Alabama Gulf Coast

We were reading the Sunday paper one July morning and I ran across this home in the classifieds. We were living on the Gulf at the time and we were very content. Having been in the area for over a decade we were very familiar with most of the real estate from Dauphin Island to Pensacola. We had looked at numerous properties in the Fairhope area on Mobile bay. There had been this small strip of land on the eastern shore of Weeks bay that we had always been attracted to, the only problem was it was very limited (~1,500 feet of shoreline) and never came up for sale. We decided to go take a look and see if by chance it was in this part of Weeks bay. We were both awestruck by natural beauty of the lot and landscape. The home had the longest pier within sight and when we walked out to the gazebo it felt like we had the bay all to ourselves. Pelican point was very near where Weeks and Mobile bay join. The property faced to the west and the sun was going down over the water providing a picturesque view with a refreshing breeze blowing. I knew at that moment this was 'IT. I would never find a property that had all the combinations of this one.

Something magical happens when you visit the Alabama Gulf Coast. The moment you arrive, the world starts to fade away. Maybe it's the sound of waves gently lapping the shore or sunsets at dusk. Perhaps it's our white sand Gulf Coast beaches and sparkling emerald water. You linger over a succulent, fresh seafood dinner at one of the seaside restaurants in the area. A visit to the Alabama Gulf Coast offers the perfect balance of non-stop activity and lay-around-doing-nothing time. Play a round of golf at one of the numerous championship golf courses. Cast your line into the bay just a few steps from your living room door or take a deep-sea adventure on the Gulf of Mexico with a short ride across Mobile Bay. Travel back in history with a visit to Fort Morgan, the site of the Civil War Battle of Mobile Bay or take in a day of shopping at the quaint shops in Fairhope or bargain shop at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Foley. The possibilities are endless.

Fantastic property!

This place is perfect! Accommodations are great and the location is convenient to a lot of places. It was very cold and windy the whole time we were there so I can't comment on outdoor activities. The fishing has the potential to be very good, weather permitting. We definitely plan to go back!

We absolutely loved our stay. The rooms were big. Everyone had their own bathroom , which was great

We went crab hunting and fishing and had a blast. There were plenty of tables for us to play games and do crafts. The rooms were big and spacious. There was plenty of parking. We played games in the back yard. Plenty of space for a family of 7. Quiet and out of the way but close enough to the grand hotel for entertainment.

Paradise found!!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at this house on Weeks Bay. It was perfect in every way and exactly what we had hoped for as a place to relax before our son's wedding in Fairhope. We arrived after dark so we couldn't see the gorgeous view we had from the entire back side of the house until the next morning. It was breathtaking! The house is only about 30 yards from the water and has a beautiful lawn with majestic oak, walnut, and pecan trees.

The large, beautiful trees in the front and in the back; the large deck across the back of the house, complete with table and chairs; the glass from floor to ceiling giving you the full view of the bay; the pier, which includes a swing and a great place to fish; watching the squirrels; hearing the birds; from a gentle breeze to a cold front moving in; watching the crains, pelicans, seagulls, shrimp boats, dolphins, and breathtaking sunsets over the water... how could you ask for a more relaxing and peaceful place to enjoy God's beautiful creation!?

The home had everything we needed for a great stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, toaster oven, dishes, coffee pots, dishwasher, and a bbq grill on the deck; you need only bring your food. Plenty of nice linens are furnished in all three bathrooms and the kitchen. There is a nice washer and dryer in a laundry closet in the kitchen.

The location is far enough away from town to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country yet close enough to have a short drive in for restaurants and local attractions. We found an excellent local restaurant, Jesse's, that was only about 3 miles from the house. The food was great and so was the service. We also ate at Lambert's in Foley and Locals in Fairhope as well as the Coffee Loft in Fairhope. There are so many choices in both Fairhope and Foley... there is an abundance of good restaurants and shopping in the area.

The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner provided excellent communication and customer service!

The photos are great and accurately reflect what you will find. If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy a peaceful stay near Fairhope and Foley, Alabama, this is IT! We plan to return in the future and have already recommended to several friends.

Family Getaway

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful home but the true experience is the view. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the location.

Our only hiccup was there was no TV for the entire 5 days we stayed. Had a hard time getting any response to rectify the issue- took 2 days to hear back from owner. Repair would be on last night there and at that point I didn't want to deal with it. Unsure if this is a ongoing problem or one time incident.

Besides that I would recommend this home for your place of relaxation and fun.
