Clarkesville House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 13-16)

A true lake house located right on beautiful Lake Burton in quiet Cherokee Cove at the South end of the lake. Very kid friendly with gentle sloping, grassy lawn, clear, shallow water and sandy bottom. Lake Burton stays at full water level all summer long and has the best mountain scenery in North Georgia. There is no better place for boating, swimming, waterskiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, or fishing. If you can pull yourself out of bed early in the morning the water in the cove is as smooth as glass (what we call “mother water”) for the ultimate waterski run! Rent a boat or jet ski nearby.

Take a break from swimming to play tetherball, croquet, or bocce ball. Kids can use the zip line or the play set in the yard. Lounge in the hammock between the trees or enjoy the large screen porch for hanging out, playing games, reading or napping (it’s very relaxing on the lake!)

Enjoy cooking in a well stocked kitchen with enough pots, pans, gadgets and dishes to satisfy the “top chef”. A Big Green Egg is on the outdoor deck for grilling. The 10 foot long farm table to accommodate all your friends and family. The screen porch and the outdoor deck have smaller tables for dining. For more space add the folding table available plus two market umbrellas for a little extra shade. The screened porch is perfect for hanging out to play games, read books or nap. After dinner gather around the fire pit next to the lake to roast marshmallows and talk in one of the many red Adirondack chairs that have become our yards’ trademark.

The house is decorated in a classic lake house feel with colorful, patterned camp blankets (and wool blankets for the winter months). Updated fifties era lamps and furniture complete the fun, vintage decor. Relax and hangout in the living room or the screen porch with it’s view of the lake. Both rooms have ample seating. There is also a playroom (because we still have young kids) just off the living room and kitchen. The house is stocked with a large supply of games for kids and adults.

If you have any desire to leave the lake there are many attractions and activities in the immediate vicinity: great hiking, Moccasin Creek State Park and the State fish hatchery, LaPrades and Anchorage Marina, Helen, GA (tubing, putt putt, water park, shopping, etc) Clarkseville, GA (bowling), Tiger, GA (drive-in movie theater, winery), North Georgia wineries. For last minute supplies, Clayton has Ingles and a 24 hour Walmart.

We love spending time here playing with friends and our family, building memories. You will too.

About The Owner

Our place just lends itself to having a lot of friends and family visit. We love sharing our Lake Burton house with the idea that our 3 girls will grow up with great summer memories spent at the lake with their friends swimming, skiing and getting ice cream at the marina. It's rare for us to spend time at the house alone because it's so much fun to have guests. We are truly able to get away from it all and enjoy each others company playing, cooking and spending late nights around the fire. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Gordon and Nancy Castle

The Owner purchased this house in 2002

Why The Owner chose North Georgia Mountains

Lake Burton is situated in the beautiful North Georgia mountains. It feels like the Northern lakes we grew up going to. The mountain scenery is gorgeous, the water is clean, clear and always full. It's an easy drive in under 2 hours from Atlanta. The house is close to the water with a grassy lawn. The waters edge is shallow and sandy which is very kid friendly.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy relaxing and unplugging from everything. There is a reason we have no television or DVD player. We have a house policy of no electronics for the kids. So we play in and on the water and play a lot of games too. The kids never complain or ask for electronics.

Beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

The lake house was perfect for our family. It was very comfortable and welcoming. The yard was spacious and allowed the kids to run around when not enjoying the lake. It also gave us plenty of room to sit around the campfire at night. The kids had an awesome time on the zip line.

The inside was provided plenty of room for our family--I loved the kitchen and the huge family style kitchen table. We can't wait to go back.

Awesome Family Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Our family was one of four who shared this house for a week. The kids, aged 3 to 10, loved the setup as there were plenty of toys to play with, arts & crafts, a playscape and, of course, the WATER! The parents loved the house because the water was so close to the house which is not typical on this lake. We rented a boat which allowed us to play on the deep, clear waters of Lake Burton. This lake is unbelievably beautiful. In the foothills of the Georgia mountains, there were plenty of side trips to take but I must admit it was difficult to wrestle the group away from the house. We were able to tear ourselves away for a movie night at the nearby Tiger Mountain Drive-In and a hike on the Appalachian Trail. Overall, a perfect trip with amazing friends. Will DEFINITELY go again.
