Come visit our BEACH HOME, very comfortable, clean but we are beach front, not a five star resort. Our wonderful managers will check you in and make sure that all is as expected. We've been renting for 9 years and have many happy guests that return year after year, even from Europe.
Unfortunately, I had a stroke in 2009 from the pressures of my work. I was forced to retire and to learn to walk and talk again. I'm so blessed with a new life and a wonderful outlook. I want to share the beauty of my home for others to enjoy. It's for sale as well since I am limited on my ability to travel as I am taking care of my 84 yr old Dad.
Victoria purchased this house in 2005
When you look out the front door you can see why. It is a picture of paradise. The views are awesome.
Managers that live by and keep the property well maintained. Living on the ocean requires daily repairs and upkeep. Martha and Keld are kind and caring hosts. They will welcome you and tend to your needs, however, they can not control the weather!!
The property was exactly as described. The view is fantastic. Very quiet. Martha was very helpful.
Firstly Martha was amazing nothing was a problem to her & made us very welcome from the moment we arrived. Being a group of 7 that didn't arrive together, it could not have run any smoother.
The Yellow house is clean & tidy perfect for our start to our Hawaiian holiday. Great stock of kitchen appliances for in house cooking.
Enjoyed a lovely night at the Polynesian Cultural Centre & I think its called Pounds Restaurant.
We pointed out that your rear & front steps needed a safety strip or white painted line as one of our friends has an eye problem & tripped twice, noting major but is a hazard.
Being the location of a dry town it may be an idea to advise future guest to stop & get some supplies eg alcohol wine etc on the way in, to save going out again.
All in all a great stay & loved the beach front even though it was a bit windy, but that's mother nature. Sunsets were fantastic.
Our family-mom, dad, and 13 and 10 yo kids, thought Yellow House was a great place to stay. The view from the back yard is amazing- the house sits up on a hill, with steps down to the beach-and there is nothing between your lounge chair in the yard and the beach below except a low hedge. There was another couple staying at the house right next door, but this did not interfere with our enjoyment of the property in any way; it still felt very private. The house itself was fine-the kitchen is well-stocked, the house was clean and well-maintained, and having Martha, the caretaker, close by was nice, as we could easily get info/ask questions. We really enjoyed staying in Laie. There are some really nice beaches close by, and lots of easily accessed activities. The town is a great base for exploring all of the north shore. We definitely recommend this place.
After careful review of many properties, I chose this rental. It was all I expected. There were even unexpected amenities, such as some water equipment, movies, games to play, etc. It was fabulous to wake up every morning to see the sun rise over the ocean! The caretaker, Martha, was extremely pleasant and helpful. I have no reservations recommending this rental to anyone visiting Oahu. Mary
I have stayed on this beach strip years ago, so coming back is like visiting an old friend. Privacy, relaxation, waves are gentle, community is laid back......this is my kind of stay. If you like crowds and skyrise, this isn't it. But if you want to relax and get away - this property will fit. Perfect for kids - I can't emphasize enough the value of the "bathtub" ocean area for kids. The reef gives the perfect enclosure - and my 3 year old and 5 year old boys learned to snorkel for the first time this trip. Kell and Martha, the property managers, were super kind and accommodating. Thank you for a great trip!!
We've stayed at all three units of this property over several years. This was our first visit to the Yellow House portion, which is the largest. We always enjoy staying in Laie. The manager, Martha, is a kind and friendly woman. She makes sure the property is ready when you arrive, calling in advance to check with you. She checks on you often to be sure everything is okay. You cannot beat the calm, semi-private beach. It is shared with two other units (smaller studio and two bedroom unit), but it's never been a problem for us. We rarely are interrupted. Husband walks along the first reef when tide is down, hoping to catch a fish or a crab, and wife zones out with a book and the sound of the gentle waves.
I would remind people who rent from Home-Away that these are NOT hotel suites. There is no maid service. You take out your own garbage, clean up after yourselves. Don't expect concierge service (although Martha is a great resource). Stay at this place if you want to relax in a homey environment. Rent at Turtle Bay (and pay through the nose) if you want a hotel experience. When we go to Hawaii all we want is the sun, surf, and laying back! You get that here.
We will go back again next year, probably to the smaller, two bedroom unit. I would like to see the owner upgrade the sofas. The slipcovers really do slip! I'm sure some micro-fiber furniture is available that would be durable and cleanable. The place is starting to show signs of wear, but all of the necessary things are available and in good order. This is the only reason for the 4, not 5 stars.. Thanks, Victoria, Martha, and Keld! Aloha till next year!
This is a wonderful, quiet town home to the Mormon Church, BYU and the Polynesian Culture Center. The house is set back from the street! Secluded with it's own fence and gate for your personal privacy. Walk to BYU or across the street to PCC.....
