Perfect Cabin in the Heart of Michigan

  • 5 of 5

When we first arrived at George's Retreat I was already excited about the location!! The house was tucked nicely behind some trees overlooking a field on a dead end small dirt street in the back of a tiny village. Our lab loved exploring the clean cut path leading to a hilltop across from the cabin. The cabin was clean, well maintained, and had everything we needed during our stay. After having breakfast in the quaint, yet roomy kitchen we would venture out to explore all the wonderful things we love about Michigan including a visit to the Iron Fish, a distillery just a short drive away. We enjoyed dinner at the cabin in the evenings while sitting on the deck and found it quite relaxing to build a fire to hang out by before going to bed. The nights were super quiet and we slept well. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wanted to share their vacation with their pet as we like to do. Jackson, our lab, felt very comfortable here! There is a small market across the highway which is well stocked with everything you would need as well as the Bear Claw Cafe which is super cute and quite yummy!! We really enjoyed our stay! Would love to return next summer. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS WONDERFUL CABIN WITH US!!!

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay there. It is located on a dead end street so it is really quiet. It was a good spot for us to visit the various places in the area. It was furnished with all of the essentials. We will definitely go back when we are in the area.

Cozy Stay

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at George's Hilltop Retreat; we were there for 3 nights. It is a great central location for many daytrips. It was stocked with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. It was very neat and tidy, but the only negative was it could use a good deep cleaning. Would definitely recommend it and would stay again. Thank you for sharing your place.

Saginaw, MI

Quaint and cozy, conveniently located to Interlochen, rivers and lakes, TC, and Lake MI

We really enjoyed our time at George's Retreat. It was easy to find and a quiet area for sleeping. We enjoyed walking the trails across the road from the house. A hardware store and and food market are within walking distance in good weather if you are picking up just a few items. (Remember that things are always more expensive in a small town, and bring a little extra cash to support the local economy.) Sauna, deck table and chairs, lawn chairs, charcoal grill with utensils were a big plus for us! Quite a bit of storage for clothes and bags; very organized kitchen and linen closet with all table-wear and bedding, including pillows. The refrigerator was loud considering the second "bed" is a pull-out in the living room. My only other complaint is that there was no toilet paper to be found when we arrived; that just seemed odd to me. Like I said, the market is very near, so we were able to find what we needed. Other reviews complained about a dog smell; it was faint but noticeable on the living room furniture, especially when the house was closed up at night. Lots of dog hair on the floor and furniture, but you wouldn't really notice as much unless you had a crawling baby like we did. Two things to make this better: update the activities book (some of the places are out-of-business) and buy a vegetable peeler for the kitchen. I would rent this again!

Perfect home away from home!

Very cute. Everything was there we could need. It was our first experience with renting a home on vacation. So much better than a hotel!

We enjoyed it and so did our dog Josette she loved the trails. Just a short drive each day and we were at crystal lake, the dunes, Leelanau peninsula, Traverse City and the Old Mission wine trail. Then back to George's reteat to relax around the fire it was awesome
