'HALE GEDIMINAS' vacation rental is in a lush tropical setting on sunny Kona Coast. Spectacular sunsets on private lanai with ocean view overlooking Ili-Ili beach, which is 5 min down by car. The unit is studio like with private entrance, has a queen-size bed, bathroom, outdoor kitchen includes refrigerator, microwave, sink, gas grill with burner for cooking, grill could be used for baking (lasagna, casserole and stuff like that).
We are located in the middle of all the Kona side attractions, between Kailua Kona and Volcano National Park. Nearby are PU'UHONUA O HONAUNAU National Historical park and famous “Two Step” for great reef snorkeling; Kealakekua bay Underwater Coral Reef State Park, historical place where Captain Cook first sailed into Hawaii; and nearby Hookena Beach Park, also great for swimming and snorkeling and dolphins watching.

August and Daiva were very welcoming and made recommendations on how best to take advantage of our 3-day stay in Kona. We LOVED their home - gorgeous view and beautiful garden. It's situated in a very peaceful neighborhood. They were very kind in lending us their snorkeling gear and boogie boards. We closed the windows in the evening since it can get a bit chilly in the winter and slept like babies. Highly recommend.
We had a great time at August and Davia's place. The grounds of their house are unbelievable - I felt like we were in a botanical garden. The room and outdoor kitchen were perfect for our needs - I enjoyed grilling fish outdoors. Most importantly, I really enjoyed meeting August and Daiva. They were a source of incredible knowledge about the area and both went out of their way to make us feel at home. We are looking forward to returning to the Big Island and, when we do, we will definitely stay with them again. Thanks for making our stay so great, August and Davia!
We stayed 5 days at this property and found it perfect in every way. There is a comfortable bed and clean bathroom inside and a delightful outdoor kitchen space. There were no bug issues, it was very clean and trash/recycles were picked up daily. The owner provided plenty of drinking water and a few bonus items in the kitchen, plus beach towels, ice packs and a cooler. The location is perfect for exploring the West side of the island. It is about 10 miles from the grocery store, which has everything you need. This is much better and more affordable than a resort hotel. The property backs to the main road, so you may hear cars in the morning as people begin their day, but its not I-70. The landscaping is beautiful and primarily what you will hear is wind through the palm fronds.
The listing describes this room perfectly. We enjoyed our stay. Having the outdoor kitchen and free parking was nice. August and Diva are very friendly and helpful. The view from the Lanai is also very nice.
After two stays here in two years I can say we like the place. If your looking for a nice clean place to stay and want to sit on the Lanai and enjoy a beautiful sunset away from the hustle and bustle of the city on the Kona side of The Big Island then this is a great place for you. The host and hostess August and Diva are very friendly and helpful, the bed is very comfortable and the view from the Lanai is especially beautiful as you watch the sunset and eat your evening meal or maybe have a drink or two. We have enjoyed many a cup of coffee on this lanai at the little table for two overlooking the beautifully manicured garden all planted by the owners.
A few other nice things about this location is that you are only minutes from The Place of Refuge and Two Steps which has really good diving and snorkeling especially when the Spinner Dolphin are in the cove, which is often in the early mornings. There is also some great diving but somewhat difficult snorkeling at Pebble Beach - which is straight down the small subdivisions main street to the Ocean, and I mean almost straight down their main street to the Ocean ;) South Point and the Green Sand Beach are around 30 minutes away on the very scenic drive south towards Volcano National Park, which is about and hour and a half away.
We were satisfied with our accommodations. The front and back gardens surrounding the property are beautiful. I would rated it 4 stars if the location was closer to the captain cook monument area for snorkeling and if the next door neighbor didn't use use blender at 4 in the morning.
