House, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 6 Baths, (Sleeps 11-13 1-13)
I was raised on a dairy farm that was unique in that we processed and packaged the milk ourselves and distributed it throughout much of County Clare. We sold that side of the business in 1998 but we still live on the farm where we now raise beef cattle. When I married my wife Mary, we built a new home on the farm and since then we totally renovated the old farm house I grew up in and started doing self catering. We now have three beautiful homes in different locations for self catering and enjoy meeting new faces all the time. We have made a lot of new friends over the years ,some of them return on a regular basis. When the opportunity arises we enjoy having a good chat over a glass of wine or a pint of Guinness with our guests. Seamus & Mary Marlborough

Why Owner chose County Clare
When the site that this house sits on which is over one and a half acres in area came on the market in 2002, we saw an opportunity to change our lifestyle. Even though we were no longer processing milk, we were still producing it and selling it to a large processor. At this stage we needed a change and decided if we accuire the site and secure planning to build on it, we would stop milk production and concentrate on self catering. To get a site with access onto the shoreline is very unique in Ireland. We paid dearly for it , but after employing a good architect , we ended up with an excellent end product specifically designed for self catering
What makes this House unique
The best thing about this house is its location. From the moment you enter the front door , you have views of the ocean and when you stand at the front door and look out you have views of the Burren Hills. Another benefit is that it is less than a five minute walk into the picturesque village of Ballyvaughan. The house itself is a unique desigh with a great sense of space and comfort.

Family celebration of 5 siblings !
I must begin with Seamus - the property owner. From my first contact he was responsive to any questions in a very timely manner, both before and after our arrival. He was informative and helpful throughout our stay. It was a special treat to meet Mary his wife. The fresh baked apple tart she dropped off was delicious, The house is every thing that is described in the summary. It is located on a dead end with a couple of other homes nearby and overlooks Galway Bay and the Connemara Mountains. There were several pastures around the neighborhood filled with sheep and cattle. Very pastoral! Inside the house is roomy yet cozy . We loved the sitting room with many large windows and a fireplace for gathering in the morning and the evenings. Rainbows actually appeared on 4 different mornings. The kitchen / dining areas was comfortable and fully equipped. All 5 bedrooms with en suite were perfect for our group of 5 couples. The town of Ballyvaughn is about a ten minute walk from the house . It is an absolute delight! There were a decent variety of restaurants, pubs and shops. We visited most of them more than once. We stopped in Ennis for grocery shopping initially - selection and prices were better than the small market in town. However, we did shop the small market in Ballyvaughn as needed . We found that the quality of the meat and baked goods was very good and that we could find just about anything we needed. Don't miss the local Farmers Market if you are there on Saturday - the cheeses were divine. Everyone we met in the village was warm and welcoming. We felt like we became a part of the village while we were there and believe that we truly got to experience the Irish way of life.No hectic on and off the bus, prescheduled tours ,etc. We all commented that it was an absolute treat to be able to slow down and take it all in. Seamus recommended a local driver for us who provided airport transfers from Shannon Airport and several days of sightseeing. Again, the best part was that the sightseeing was at our pace. Oliver was always available. We concentrated our sightseeing to the Wild Atlantic Way , Galway , Doolin , Aran Isles and Cliffs of Moher.
I would highly recommend this property without reservation for an immersive holiday experience on the beautiful western coast of Ireland.
The best in all Ireland for family gatherings
Seamus and Mary are wonderful gracious hosts who provide a beautiful home in a wonderful village. With the advantage of five en-suite bedrooms this property is ideal for large gatherings. The kitchen is very spacious and well equipped. In short, a magnificent spot to enjoy the Irish country side and convenient to many sites.
friends and family vacation
we recently had the opportunity to stay at the sycamore house in ballyvaughn. as my husband is from Ireland and we have traveled back several times to stay with family, this time we brought friends with us to visit Ireland. we rented this house from seamus. the location of this house is fabulous!! the views are just beautiful. seamus was there to greet us when we arrived and could not have been more helpful or friendly. he walked us through the house pointing out the stove, ovens, and other parts of the house. the house was very clean upon arrival. there was nine adults staying at the house and could not have been more comfortable with every bedroom having its own bathroom. the layout of the house is very inviting with the kitchen and living room as a gathering place with a fantastic view of the well manicured lawn and water. the interior of the house is decorated bright and cheerfully. I would highly recommend this house to anyone. it was a wonderful stay for everybody.

Fantastic house in fantastic location.
Our group has stayed in houses all around Ireland over 10 years and we universally agreed that this was the best we have ever stayed in. Comfortable, well equipped, beautiful gardens in a stunning location and a pleasant host. I highly recommend this property for anyone in Ireland looking for a fantastic break in a beautiful location or any visitors to Ireland who want a comfortable stay with incredible views. 5 stars all the way!
Lovely and welcoming home!
We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. The house is very well thought out for a perfect holiday with family. It has all the necessities you will need for your stay. We especially loved the open and spacious kitchen as well as the cozy den. The beds were comfortable and every room having its own ensuite bathroom is a great feature. We would not hesitate to return to this home if we should ever find ourselves back in Ireland and we certainly hope that we do! Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer.
Peaceful Vacation Place
We loved everything about our stay here! The house was big and beautiful and Seamus is such a thoughtful host! He chatted with us and gave great recommendations about the area and where we were headed on our next leg of the journey. Wish we could have stayed in this home longer it was amazing!
