Keuka Lake House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Welcome to our Home-away-from-home! This is truly a charming retreat from the everyday rat-race. 'Whispering Waters' is a year-round home and is located only 3 minutes from downtown Penn Yan on the Sunny east-side of Keuka Lake. The property is deep, sitting well off the main road, perfect for peace and quiet or playing in the spacious yard. The year-round nature of the home makes it ideal for all seasons...don't miss Fall Foliage in the Finger Lakes!!!

Inside you'll find personal touches and comfortable appointments, not the sterile atmosphere of Rental Agency properties. The full kitchen is bright and cheery with plenty of counter space. Upstairs there are 2 full bedrooms(1 Queen bed, 2 Twins) with a sitting room(complete with game and puzzle library) and full-bath (shower). There is a spacious Master Bedroom with full-bath (shower/tub) on the south side. A 3rd full bath (shower) with laundry room is located off the living room. Also off the living room is a fabulous sun room overlooking the lake and waterfront, with full dining table and sleeper sofa for extra sleeping space. In the warmer weather relax on the deck which also overlooks the lake. The views are stunning, especially at sunset.

For water activity, the staircase leads to some of the finest lakefront available on Keuka Lake. The natural pebble beach and gradual entry swimming area are ideal for families with children.

Activities in the area are abundant for all seasons. If you like wine-tasting, you'll have close to 100 wineries to choose from between the Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake Wine Trails. There is even a winery only a quarter-mile walk from the house!

About Lori Dahlberg

I grew up in Penn Yan, and although I've lived in many states along the way, my heart has always been rooted here in the Finger Lakes. My family lives in New Jersey now, but we spend every summer vacation on Keuka Lake. Our children are learning, as I did, all the joy that comes with lake living. They are making lasting friends and memories every year.

Lori Dahlberg purchased this house in 2003

Why Lori Dahlberg chose Keuka Lake

There are so many things to do in this area that we NEVER get bored. We always have a list as long as my arm of things we want to do, and places we want to see, but we never seem to finish the list...it's just too hard to leave the lake!

What makes this house unique

'Whispering Waters' is located in the best place possible: just far enough from town to feel that you're 'away from it all', but close enough that you can get in for whatever you may need in only a couple of minutes. I've seen a lot of lakefront, but the swimming area we have is so nice and gradual, and almost completely weed-free that I can't imagine finding better anywhere on any lake!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful stay at your house. The house is adorable and comfortable and had everything we needed.

Thank you ,

Perfect place for a relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

It was a girls weekend and this cozy home had everything we needed and it was CLEAN! The access to the lake provided plenty of sunshine. The deck had the perfect shade when we had too much sun. It was quiet; the neighbors were not right on top of you. Every spot of the house, inside and out, had plenty of seating; nobody ever had to look for a chair or chaise to sit in. We were on the "right" side of the lake and got to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets over the west side of the lake. We will definitely reserve again for girls weekend next year. I would even like to find the time to bring my husband and two kids sometime.

Great value, all you could ask for!

  • 5 of 5

Six of us (grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, 3 and 5 year old) rented this home for a week. The owners made the rental process very easy, owner's mom lives about 5 minutes from the property and manages it, so if any problems, they are taken care of immediately. We had a plugged toilet, called to report it and within a couple of hours, handyman was there to fix it. (Three bathrooms so this was in no way a hardship!). This is more than a cottage on the lake, it is a home, full of comfy furniture, fully equipped kitchen, areas to go to to be alone, read, etc., laundry, and a lovely screened in porch and deck overlooking the beautiful lake. The home was spotless, had anything we could think of to make our stay perfect....and is only a 5 minute drive to Penn Yan to pick up groceries (TOPS) or NY style pizza (CAMs). We loved our stay and would love to stay again!

Owner's Response: I am so happy you enjoyed your stay at our home-away-from-home! We love to share our slice of heaven when we're not enjoying it ourselves! We try to keep everything there that anyone might need for a wonderful getaway. Thank you for reporting the clogged toilet. I'm glad we were able to get that taken care of quickly. I really appreciate your comments and hope that you come back to stay at Whispering Waters again in the future! Enjoy your summer! :)

Whispering Waters

  • 5 of 5

We had a great visit to Whispering Waters. It was in a great location for us to go to many wineries. It worked well for 2 couples. It was spacious inside and we spent both evenings on the deck.

Too Much Fun

  • 4 of 5

We recently spent a 3-day weekend here. It is our 2nd stay at this cottage. Once again we had a wonderful time. The layout of the cottage is perfect for 3 couples and the 3 bathrooms make it great for 6 adults to get ready and out the door at the same time. We love the privacy of the beach area. The weather was great for late September so we had the opportunity to watch 3 beautiful sunsets as we sat by a campfire down by the water. The deck right outside the dining area gets just the right amount of sunshine so we could enjoy coffee (and a mimosas or two) as we got a relaxing start to our days. The house is stocked with anything you could ever want or need for cooking, grilling, baking or drinking! The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The cottage is close to several wineries and breweries on Keuka Lake as well as being only a short distance from many of the Seneca Lake wineries and breweries. The owner is easy to work. We never saw the neighbor and one side and the one on the other side was very friendly and helpful.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. I'm so glad you had a nice time while there. However, as nice as your stay sounds, you only gave us 4 stars. As you are the first guests to give us less than 5, please tell me what we could have done to have received a 5 star review from you. I'd like to make sure that future guests are completely satisfied. Our guests complete satisfaction is of highest priority to us. I hope to hear from you! Thank you!

Great location for your Finger Lakes vacation

  • 5 of 5

My 2 60-something women friends and I travel together each year and have been doing so or about 30 years. We always seem attracted to water, and this is a perfect location for staring at water all week. Of course, there is ever so much more to do in this location other than staring at a gorgeous lake just outside your window and deck. Wineries abound! In fact, there is an excellent and beautiful winery just down the street, a 2 minute ride, if that: Keuka Springs Winery. There are good restaurants also within a quick drive: our favorite was Top of the Lake with outdoor seating overlooking the lake and excellent food. We also took a dinner cruise on Lake Seneca with Captain Bill's Seneca Lake Cruises. Spent a day at the Women's Rights Historical Park in Seneca Falls. AND a day in the amazing Watkins Glen State Park. And then to have the good fortune to return to this lovely lake house each night was a pleasure. The deck is AMAZING, and although swimming season may be coming to an end this year, the lake water is crystal clear and inviting. It was wonderful to have a swim at the end of a busy, but leisurely travel day. A few ducks greeted us every evening. Wonderful driving! -- the area is gorgeous, lovely country.

The owner communicates well and quickly. It seems you should email, not call. Even when we had some questions during the week, she responded. My friends and I have traveled quite a bit during our 30 years or so, and we each agreed that THIS vacation was exceptional.
