'Journey's End' is truly a one of kind cottage/bungalow that offers a traditional/quaint vacation experience while providing 'state of the art' conveniences to the guests.
It is located at the very end of a well maintained access road in a very secluded and private section of Hansen Harbor. 'Journey's End' is also conveniently situated smack in the heart of the NYS Wine Belt. Upon your arrival, you will immediately be struck by the the magnificent panoramic view of Seneca Lake at it's widest point.
The cottage has three bedrooms and two full baths, a full kitchen with breakfast bar and a combined living and dining area all of which were constructed to take full advantage of the spectacular lake view. Each of the front bedrooms provide spectacular views of the lake while the rear bedroom looks out into a raised flower garden and wooded ravine.
Just a mere four steps down to the beach and your ready to swim, sunbathe, fish, kayak, you name it! This property boasts 90 feet of some of the most level and pristine beach frontage in the area. Perfect for launching one of the properties kayaks, rowboat or paddle boat. Ideal for family's with small children.
At night... bonfires on the beach! A traditional beach fire pit at waters edge, great for roasting marshmallows, telling ghost stories or just enjoying a romantic evening by the water.
Perhaps beach activities aren't your cup of tea. Well then... you can pack up your radio and suntan lotion and take a stroll out to the end of the 100 foot aluminum dock. Now here... you will truly experience a breathtaking view and be able to totally relax surrounded by the serenity and calm of the wind, sun and water. Is that glorious sunshine making things a little warm? Take a dive off the dock (purposely constructed low to the water) for a refreshing dip in the crystal clear water, where the water depth is a comfortable five foot (average seasonal depth at the end of the dock is approximately five feet, but can vary depending on amount of rainfall during the rental season).
Or Maybe you just wanna kickback in one of the eucalyptus Adirondack chairs under the shade of the covered deck for an afternoon snooze. Or catch up on a good book, while enjoying a glass of one of the area's world famous wines produced, literally, just down the road.
Whatever your preference, we are confident that 'Journey's End' will provide you with a most enjoyable and memorable vacation experience!

I rarely do reviews, but I had such an amazing time I felt compelled to share. This cottage is small but very functional and enough space for 6 people. We had 4 adults and 2 children. Everything within the cottage is updated and thoughtfully placed. We were comfortable inside the cottage, but almost any time not sleeping or exploring the area was spent outdoors in the spacious deck, fire-pit by the water, or on the dock. Kayaks, paddle boat and row boats were available for use - all in excellent shape.
We rented pontoon boats few of the days from Roy's Marina and were able to bring it down to the dock (be aware, it does take a decent amount of time to get it here though) for the day.
Lake is gorgeous and the views from the deck/cottage/dock are priceless.
Ed is a hands-on and helpful host with excellent communication before/during/after the trip.
My favorite winery (not really a vineyard) was Domaine Leseurre - on Keuka lake, about 30min drive. A rather new place but I think it will become BIG. Fox Run had some good value-wines too.
The cabin was clean and very well appointed . All of our needs were provided for with a sharp eye for every detail. We loved the boating , fishing , fire pit and all the rest ! Only regret is we didn't stay longer . Well done ! See you next year ...
What a great cottage for a relaxing lake vacation! The location is perfect - about halfway between Watkins Glen and Geneva. My husband and I enjoyed our coffee/tea each morning on the dock while watching the sun rise over the lake and morning kayaking. And we all enjoyed watching the stars at night. Our college-aged boys enjoyed fishing, boating, chess, monopoly and card games. The cottage was very clean and has a well stocked kitchen.
To be brief, this lake house has character that words cannot describe. Even pictures have a tough time conveying the charm held by this quaint little home. It is, quite literally, lake side with a porch overhanging the gentle crash of waves below. A floating wooden walkway stretches out into the lake, ending in a private dock fully equipped with wooden lawn chairs and calming tranquility. If your heart so desires, a rowboat is also available to venture further out into Lake Seneca.
The house itself is cozy. It was perfectly sized for five adults. With two bathrooms, impatient urgency was never an issue. Sleeping arrangements were divided into three rooms. The master bedroom houses a queen bed and a regal view of the lake. The second bedroom has two twin beds. The third has a bunk bed, the bottom of which is a double, and an attached bathroom. Although the home has a 5 gallon chilled water dispenser, the tap water is fresh. A group of our friends stayed in another lake house down the road, and their tap water smelled a rather foul -- an issue not present in this home. The kitchen is equipped with plenty of dishes, cups, and utensils; the available dishwasher insures easy cleaning of said dishware. The home also comes with a washer and dryer which are useful after multiple retreats into the lake. The only flaw is that the living room is small and not ideal for the extended habitation of numerous television connoisseurs.
This home is perfect for a family or small group of friends looking to get away for the weekend. The property owners are mindful and a pleasure to work with, making communication and renting a smooth and painless affair. They were even kind enough to mail a pair of pants we had left behind. This home was truly a pleasure to stay in and I won’t bother looking for another place when I visit Lake Seneca again.
My husband and I loved staying at Journey's End. The description and photos were spot on and we could not have been happier (the gravel road to the house seems to go on forever the first time you are on it, so don’t give up hope along the way!). The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up a gourmet meal. Mornings on the dock were perfect, with incredible sun rises. It was difficult to tear ourselves away for sightseeing and wine tasting, but we managed. The owners went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and called several times during our stay to check in with us, as well as offering suggestions for shopping and dining (just a ten minute drive to Penn Yan for all the amenities you need). They also came to our rescue when I forgot to pack my husband’s pants by mailing them back to us! All in all, we had a very pleasant time at Journey’s End.
We (2 parents, 2 kids ages 11 and 8) stayed for a week and had a great time.
The location is great - it certainly feels like you are way off the beaten path, but it isn't far from the wineries and town. The cottage is nice and small (we like that) but has a massive deck and a long dock. The kayaks are great and the lake is quite stunning overall.
Facilities - the place has pretty much everything you need. Lots of plates, glasses, etc.. Great BBQ - same as mine at home (well, until I replaced it a month ago) - solid Weber.
Trips - head to the Watkins Glen State Park is a must-see. We also enjoyed the Corning Glass Museum. Wineries - hit the Heron Hill (original location on Keuka Lake - it's way nicer than the one that is right by the cottage), and Fox Run
Food - we didn't head out much but a definite hit is R.E.D.S Hot - a Finger Lakes Wienery - awesome hot dogs. Just south on the highway.
There was a minor issue with a lot of seaweed due to the massive rains, but Ed took care of that nicely. Overall an excellent stay - Ed was a great host, visiting occasionally to check up on things and take care of little things (e.g. empty BBQ propane - fixed in minutes).
No hesitation at all in recommending the Journey's End.
