Spacious 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms Stunning Ocean Views close to Mamitas beach

Beautifully decorated by an Interior Decorator, our top floor Penthouse apartment/condo is situated in one of the best locations in Playa del Carmen at the junction of 5th Avenue and 34th a short walk to the famous Mamitas/Kool beaches. Enter through our secure gated entrance set back from the main road through a leafy lane or drive directly into our secure gated car park using a remote control and take the elevator to the top floor. Staff are on duty during the daytime for your convenience and at night we have a Security Guard based in the lobby.

The apartment has a modern fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops/work surfaces, breakfast bar and marble floors with high stools for informal dining. There is a large fridge/freezer, microwave, stove, dishwasher and is well stocked with all utensils for home cooking/dining.

There are two equally large bedrooms, with super-king size beds making this apartment suitable for couples sharing or families. There is plenty of closet space with a safe in the master bedroom closet where you can store your valuables when you are out and about. Both bedrooms have en-suite marble shower rooms with walk-in showers and full glass doors, WC and washbasin. Each bedroom has its own satellite TV with programs in English and Spanish and a DVD player.

The modern living area has two reclining leather sofas where you can simply relax and enjoy the ocean view and for your convenience we have recently installed a 42' flat screen TV again with satellite TV and DVD player.

If you need to keep in touch with work or family, Internet/WiFi is provided as well as a Vonage telephone line with Free land-line calls to over 60 Countries and to cell phones (mobiles) in the US and Canada. It is a US telephone number and you can receive calls which will be charged to the caller at their normal US rate if they call you.

The dining area complemented by a fine imported wooden table and chairs leads through to the comfortable, modern sitting room. From here you have views through the large patio doors across the terrace and pool, out to the Caribbean Sea.

Outside there is a table, chairs and parasol for al fresco dining alongside the jacuzzi plunge pool which is the perfect place to watch the amazing birdlife returning to the jungle canopy below at sunset, most evenings to be joined by the Coati family who come out to feed at this time.

If you take the stairs up to our spacious sunroof, you will be rewarded with even more magnificent views. Relax on the double sunbed to top up the tan, or enjoy the last few rays as the sun sets looking out towards Cozumel and the amazing cruise ships passing through the straits.

All the best restaurants in town are within walking distance, located along and around the pedestrianised 5th Avenue, therefore a car is not necessary. If you do plan on hiring a car, our personal car space in the ground floor secure garage is at your disposal. The garage has direct access into the hallway and the elevator.

All the doors are extra wide to allow wheelchair access, even the bedroom doors, and apart from the stairway leading to the sun roof everything is on one level. Access from the street is only a step of approximately 4 inches and from the car park it is also on the same level as the elevator, making our apartment particularly friendly for people with reduced mobility.

Bottled water and a mid week cleaning service is provided.

About Barbara

We are a married couple who have been visiting the Yucutan for many years now. Our daughter and her family live in the area but we like to travel around during our frequent visits and decided that Playa del Carmen is by far the best place to have a base. We like fine dining and think Playa is the best town in the area for eating out. There are excellent top class restaurants particularly around 5th Avenue, many inspired by the Italians who live at our end of town. We are very interested in the history and the ecology of the area and have visited most of the Yucatan Peninsular but decided Playa was the place to return to after our travels. We like the beautiful beaches, visiting the wonderful eco and wildlife parks such as Xcaret or Sian Ka'an or taking trips to the various Mayan Ruins so we are very happy to own a comfortable place of our own in Playa.

Why Barbara chose Playa del Carmen

Unlike Cancun, Playa has retained the relaxed atmosphere of a seaside holiday town while at the same time offering a fun and buzzy nightlife, so this appealed to us when choosing another home from home. After visiting many units in the area, we decided that our apartment was the best by far that we had seen. Located on 5th Avenue it offers luxury accommodation with good restaurants and shops close by. The building is relatively small unlike many blocks which look more like large hotels than homes and each unit is quite private. We are just minutes from Mamitas and Kool beaches and we preferred to be on 5th rather than right on the beach slightly set back from the noise but at the same time able to enjoy magnificent views across the ocean. We don't need to hire a car as public transport from Playa is first class. You can visit almost all of the area in air-conditioned buses. Likewise getting to and from the airport. Taxis are plentiful and cheap so you can get around town easily and not worry about where and for how long to park.

What makes this condo unique

We wanted a Penthouse, ie top floor with no-one walking around above us. The bonus was the finishes came up to standard, with a good sized kitchen and living space, but also we liked the idea of two almost identical bedrooms, so if we came with friends/family neither has to have the less desirable room. We could see at once that the interior had been designed by someone with taste making it a comfortable place to come home to. It is wonderful to be able to walk to the best restaurants, not worry about drinking and driving. Shopping within a short taxi ride is also important. Walmart close by and my favourite supermarket Mega is within walking distance or only a few pesos taxi ride away. The sunroof with magnificent ocean views is a great place to relax and top up the tan followed by a dip in our own private splash pool, The perfect place to enjoy a sundowner looking out across the Caribbean Sea to Cozumel watching the ships go by.

Fantastic Place!

Modern place with all the conveniences, perfectly located right off the main pedestrian street. Right next to the best French bistro in Mexico and a block or two away from some of the best restaurants in town. Easy to get to the beach. And the rooftop deck was the best part - spent alot of time in the pool! Barbara and her local agents we responsive and totally flexible. Would absolutely stay here again and would recommend this place to all our friends too! Merci pour tout Barbara! Votre apartement est ideal!

Very Enjoyable!

The Penthouse was very comfortable and clean. Cleaning lady always did a fabulous job! And the property management company was always very helpful - just send an email and you had another gallon of water brought to the condo - they coordinated our transport. We especially enjoyed the cold jetted tub on the terrace - could just relax at the condo if we didn't want to go out. I would recommend this property. Only small issue was we packed expecting to be able to do laundry but there was no washer or dryer when we arrived, but one was delivered when we left. Luckily there are a lot of laundromats around that charge a small fee to do your laundry!

Owner's Response: We are so happy that they enjoyed our lovely Condo. It was unfortunate that the washing machine did break down and we had to buy a new one during their stay which is now installed and working perfectly. Our staff did offer to collect and return their laundry free of charge whilst they awaited the technician to install the machine. One of the advantages of staying with us is we have great support staff, covering most eventualities such as cleaners, electricians, pool boys and gardeners who can come to your assistance immediately. In this case we had to wait for technical support from the suppliers of the washer/dryer for the fitting and I appreciate that in Mexico the pace can be much slower in getting things done. We do hope we will see these guests back again and they can enjoy the use of the new washer/dryer for years to come.

Wonderful Condo

We stayed in this beautiful condo with another couple last November. The indoor and outdoor space was great and we spent a lot of time on the roof top taking in the breathtaking view. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were very comfortable and having everything on one level was a bonus. The one major downside for us was not having a barbecue as we cooked many of our meals and would have preferred not using the oven. Will definitely consider another visit this November.

Fantastic, spacious, perfect location

Barbara's condo in Bosque de los Aluxes was exactly what we needed. I traveled there for a week in early April with my wife, brother and his girlfriend (all of us late 20s/early 30s), and we all agreed that we'd go back in a heartbeat.

If you've been to Playa, you know that 5th Ave has a lot to offer, but also can be loud/overwhelming/annoying at times. Barbara's condo is situated at the northern end of 5th where it is much more chill, but is still a stone's throw from both Mamita's/Kool beach clubs and all of the restaurants you've probably read about elsewhere.

As for the inside of the property itself - it's fantastic. Both beds are king sized and really comfortable, the room sizes/layouts are identical with great walk-in showers.

The view outside is fantastic - I at first thought that the rooftop was a shared space (like a rooftop in NYC), but it's all yours when staying there. The pool was very refreshing to hop in first thing in the morning or after the beach, but it's not something you'll want to spend all day in since it's about the size of a large hot tub.

The kitchen had everything we needed (including lots of spices), and we used it several times for dinner and breakfast.

The only glitch in our stay is that the AC didn't work at first, but after emailing the property management company they sent someone out to repair it within an hour.

(Quick side note - we ended up renting a car, and there was a place nearby that we walked to without a reservation...very easy process. I was a little nervous given that it was a foreign company, we had a small language barrier, and we didn't use GPS, but it went totally fine. We visited Tulum and a fantastic Monkey Sanctuary a few miles away from the ruins).

Finally, even though Barbara goes through a property management company, she made sure to add her personal touch throughout the stay and offered several recommendations for places to eat/visit/shop.

BEAUTIFUL, SAFE AND SECURE CONDO WITH OCEAN VIEWS

My wife and I travel to Playa regularly and usually stay in higher end oceanfront properties or at least very close to the beach as we truly enjoy the ocean views. We chose this property for its location and outdoor living space. We were not disappointed; instead, we we ecstatic. The pictures do not accurately represent this property. The condo with its views is truly astonishing.

LOCATION: Unless one is familiar with Playa it is difficult to describe just how perfectly this condo is located. It is nestled in a picturesque area reminding me more of Europe with its brick sidewalks and sidewalk cafes. What we consider to be the best restaurants in Playa are are in close proximity but honestly, everything in Playa is "close". This condo makes you feel as though you are in the middle of everything but your actual condo with its ocean view makes you feel as though you are removed from everything. I was concerned about not having an oceanfront condo; however, this was not a problem. The walk to the beach was an enjoyable 5-10 minute stroll and using a beach club gave me the same amenities as having an oceanfront condo without tracking sand into the condo all day long.

THE CONDO: Colorful, happy, comfortable and a well-appointed kitchen. The kitchen even had a few spices, salt, pepper and coffee filters which we found very useful. The photographs do not capture the condo and the picturesque view. We found the beds to be extremely comfortable and the bedding was top notch. Closet and storage space was remarkable and plenty of hangars: a small but memorable detail. The washer and dryer were perfect and soap was provided, another small detail. The internet was fast and very dependable. We could not get the Vonage phone to work but it was probably user error. We carry our own cell phones so this was not an issue for us.

CHECK IN/OUT: I called Playa Paradise as we were leaving the airport and I expected someone to be at the Condo upon our arrival for check-in. After a second phone call, someone from Playa Paradise was there in five minutes. If this was my first trip to Playa, I would have been concerned. Check-out went without a hitch.

OVERALL: This condo exceeded all of our expectations. The location was perfect for our needs and lifestyle. It left us with a feeling that we "lived" in Mexico for a week, we did not just have a week long vacation in Mexico.

Owner's Response: I am so happy you enjoyed our condo as much as we do We had exactly the same sentiments when choosing our home in Playa, ie, away from it all but in the heart of everything, particularly the best restaurants and with the fabulous views, perfect. It's a shame you were not able to use the Vonage line as we installed it to make contact with home easier whilst still enjoying your vacation. I spent hours talking to my son in Shanghai, my family and friends in the UK, Amsterdam and Canada during our 3 month stay this summer so yes, maybe it was something really simple for it to not work, particularly as the internet was working so well, and it's connected through internet. On your next visit have Marcelo our technical expert, always on the premises come in and reboot it for you. We do hope you will come back again and we thank you for writing such a glowing review.

Wonderful stay

We've rented several condos in the area over the years, and this is my favorite. The description of the condo is spot on. Nice open and bright condo with the best view ever. Everything including the location was lovely (and the price was great too!) Check-in and out was easy. Thanks for a great stay, Barbara!

Notes:
A safe is provided in the Master Bedroom for our Clients. The building is very safe, we have a large metal door that leads to the street with either code or key access into the building. During the day there is always staff on hand to help and at night we have a night security guard in the main lobby. The car park door is opened/closed by a remote control and we have an allocated parking space specifically for our unit, therefore the security aspect is very good. Playa is not a dangerous place but it is nice to feel secure, particularly for our lady visitors.
