We had three families for three nights and had plenty of room. The house is large and roomy with plenty of sleeping beds. Other than needing good snow tires or four wheel drive to get up the mountain, it was perfect. We had a great stay.
Our church staff of 9 thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. Plenty of beds, comfy furniture, excellent wifi and TV. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we wanted. Quiet location and great star-gazing. Fun times in the hot tub. Breckenridge Resort Managers helped us tremendously when we needed to change dates and then with early arrival.
We are frequent users of VRBO. With a family now totaling 12 it is difficult to find a reasonable rental for our vacations which we have been doing together for the past 12 years. We also use VRBO for 2 couples together getaway each year (19 trips) and also for just the two of us.
This is one of the best we have ever experienced. It has a great layout and plenty of space. The two bunks share a bathroom with one of the queens on the main floor, the single bunk is in the downstairs mud room and shares a bath the downstairs queen, and the master bedroom has a very large private bath and deck.
The pictures look to have been done professionally. The house is darker inside in the afternoons and evenings than pictured. However, there is plenty of lighting. The neighborhood is wonderful. We had a large moose show up for breakfast one morning along with the daily deer, squirrels, and various other animals. There is a swing for children on the property and the hot tub seems to be serviced every other day. If the grill runs out of propane refills are included in the rental cost. This is not always true with VRBO rentals.
The rental management company is very responsive to any and all needs. We had several questions and an "oops" during our stay. Even after hours they are reachable and will rectify any issues that arise. Again, this is not always the case with private rentals.
It is nice being out of the busyness of downtown Breckenridge, but being a close and scenic drive to the town. It is also an advantage being south of Breckenridge in the lush forest as opposed to north in the valley. However, we are used to high elevations as we live at 7000'. If you are a flat lander be prepared to be out of breath. As amusing as we found it, there are shops in Breckenridge that sell small canisters of oxygen.
A few friends from my college years and I wanted to reunite for a short ski trip to Breckenridge, and we found this amazing home on HomeAway and knew we had to stay here. We were totally impressed with the value for what we got - the house is *massive* and full of the best amenities, including a really nice hot tub, a fireplace, a plowing service which clears the snow from the roads and driveway every morning after it has snowed enough, a really good kitchen we used repeatedly, lots of mudroom space to put all of our ski stuff, 3 stories worth of rooms that were more than enough for the 8 of us (we would posit that 10 would fit comfortably with the 3 bathrooms, it sleeps up to 12 technically), and many sleds in the two-car garage which we had lots of fun with on the hills in the neighborhood.
One thing that you really need to be conscious of is that the house is actually in Blue River, which, though just 2 miles outside of Breckenridge, made conditions on the road very different. Even with a 4 wheel drive, after the snow started coming down, we ended up with a stuck car in the driveway, then a stuck pizza delivery guy after that! 4 wheel drive and snow tires are MANDATORY. Doing anything else is pretty dangerous on that road. Our 4 wheel drive without dedicated snow tires was barely cutting it. But, it's worth it for the insane beauty just right next to Breck, and for the really perfect home we stayed in.
We found ourselves routinely deciding "why even leave?" in this home, opting for a full day at home instead of skiing (a testament to how nice the house is!). Would definitely be great for a family, with the upstairs master a bit removed from the kids. Would certainly stay again!
