Location, Location, Location

We stayed here on Labor Day weekend, the cabin was perfect for our family of 4. It was simple yet sufficient for our family, if you are looking for something extravagant this is not the place for you. The location was absolutely amazing the area is one of the most pristine and beautiful I have been to in Northern Michigan (this was not our first time in the region), one thing that stood out the most for me is that we did not need to get into the car to go to the dunes, the Heritage Bike Trail is literally across the street and the main Dune Climb is a short bike/walk. The bike ride to Glen Arbor was about 4 miles and we stopped at Glen Haven about half way and watched a blacksmith make a coat hook and looked at some old boats, there is also a Lk Mich Beach there. Our boys and I loved fishing in the crystal clear Little Glen and just relaxing on the shore. If you like craft beer there is no brewery but go to Art's Tavern, Short's makes a beer specifically for them.

A larger beach area would have been nice, some of the brush growth could be cleared out from either side to enhance the view of the lake and enlarge the beach area, and have the beach area more maintained lots of reeds growing on it. Also, linens would've been nice but weren't a deal breaker.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you took advantage of many opportunities to enjoy this beautiful area. I'm so glad you commented on the view area to the lake. It has been widened, and you can now see the Alligator and the bridge from the cottage. The reeds and weed roots at the beach hold the beach from erosion. We have lost as much as 5 feet a year when the ice goes out and from wind damage. We cannot remove them. Where they have been removed you will see a significant indentation on the shoreline. I'm glad you and the boys had a great time, and we hope you will be our guests again.

This cabin was perfect for our family of four!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin fit our family PERFECTLY...myself, husband and our 2 boys. The cabin was clean and kept up well. We LOVED our "first" visit to Sleeping Bear Dunes. The cabin sits back from the road, is peaceful and private, the boys had plenty of room to safely ride their bikes around the driveway turnaround. The cabin is walking distance to the Dune Climb. Seemed like the perfect location for everything. We enjoyed having our own swimming area and walking right out on little Glen Lake. The sand area could be kept up a little better, I am a gardner by nature so I caught myself pulling weeds and cleaning it up (I also found poison ivy, just beware) The cabin was equipped with just about everything you can think of...a few things I didn't think of, dish soap and scrubber, kitchen towels, bathroom hand soap, a radio (there is alarm clock w/ radio but would have loved to have remembered real radio). We would love to stay here again and would refer this cabin in a second.

Ideal Location

This is a comfortable small cottage. My husband and I enjoyed swimming in the lake as well as hiking on the many nearby paths and found the cottage a relaxing place to stay. The cottage has a great location across from the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. This was our 3rd year at this cottage and we plan to return.

This cottage gave us a great vacation! It was very comfortable and in fact a new bed was delivered while we were there! It has a great location and the lake is awesome, espically for kids! The cottage is furnished with everything you might need. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Owner's Response: A new double bed springs and mattress replaces the older one. The queen was new last year. We tightened the screws on the bed frame.

Quaint family cottage

  • 4 of 5

Was perfect for our family of 5, including 3 young children. The lake is about knee deep a quarter mile out allowing the kids to play all day long with no worries. Also, there is a small patch of sand at the waters edge that the kids can play in as well. The cottage was fully stocked with all our needs. The only downsides are the beds are a bit uncomfortable and noisy and there is no clothes line to hang wet towels and suits. Sleeping Bear Dunes is behind the cottage a few yards down the road. The cottage is set back off the road so it is private and peaceful. It had a great old cottage feel to it. The furniture was nice and newer. The bathroom and kitchen were clean. Overall, a great little place that accomidates the best that the Glen Lake area has to offer.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your response. We replaced the double bed with a new springs and mattress. The queen springs and mattress were new a year ago. Tightening the screws on the bed frame stopped the squeaking. There are no trees on which to hang a clothes line, but a clothes drying rack is provided. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will return to our beautiful area.
