Great for a group!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our group of ten adults! Located on a nice, quiet part of Lake Sunapee, it has pretty views and is within close proximity to New London. Plenty of sleeping space for all of us as well as bathrooms. An open living room, dining and kitchen area allowed for good food, comfort and conversation! This home is under new ownership and the new owner, Carl, was a pleasure to work with! He responded quickly to questions and was full of information. He definitely wanted to make sure we had an enjoyable time in his home. As a new owner, he is slowly making improvements to the property to make it an even more enjoyable experience. We had a wonderful weekend away and would plan to stay at this house again!

Excellent stay as usual

  • 5 of 5

We have been renting this property with family and friends for 4 years now.

The house is beautiful with large & big windows which offer you an unique view on the lake.

The house is very convenient with close access to the Mont Sunapee resort, trails, stores...

The house is well furnished, clean & you have everything you need to make your stay memorable.

The landlord, Joe, is very friendly and easy to reach out in case you need anything.

I would definitely recommend this house for a group of 12 or less who want to enjoy a peaceful stay by the lake or close to a ski resort.

Thanks for everything Joe, we love your house.

The French Family,

Great location needs some work

  • 2 of 5

This was one of 3 houses I rented to put up family and friends. I rented this house for a week because it looked like the one I wanted to spend the most time in. Unfortunately there were some things that really were not what they were advertised. We arrived to floors that were dirty, food left in the oven and garbage cans that were jammed full and never emptied the week we were there so the smell got quite ripe. The owner did come and empty 2 of the 4 cans so that we had somewhere to put our garbage but it was not a good enough solution. The house has a great view and could be really nice if some maintenance and TLC was applied. The wall oven did not work and the gas range had problems. The fireplace did not work, the internet was unreliable, the screens were broken as were some door handles and windows. This house is obviously rented a lot and used hard but seems time some of the "to do" list got done. It felt a bit like a fraternity house and if it was priced as such I may return but frankly my other 2 houses were far superior. This was my first time using VRBO and this house really was not as advertised but the other 2 were so I don't feel that I made a mistake in selection but rather the owners have let this fall into disrepair

Owner's Response: Over the 10 years I have rented this property I have met hundreds of wonderful families. However, there are a few that I wish went elsewhere. Within five minutes of Doris’ arrival she called to report that the trash cans were full, the previous renter left two fully cooked, untouched pies in the oven (Doris wanted to know when the previous group had left and if she could eat them safely) and that the floors were dirty. I responded to Doris’ complaint by driving to the property and emptying two of the four trash barrels. I entered the property and observed for myself that the house was clean including the offending floor surfaces. I have had the same cleaning service for three years. They do a great job especially in the hectic turnover period in the summer. The next day Doris was back on the line. Now the pressing problem of the day was the trash smelled due to the beautiful sunny weather and high temperatures. I ignored this Doris’ scream for attention which resulted in the offensive review. Here are my responses to each of her complaints: Smelly trash – this is the nature of trash. That is why it is kept outside in covered trash barrels awaiting curbside pickup, a new benefit I signed up for in the last six months; Wall oven doesn’t work – Doris forgot to mention that there is a $9,000 professional chef Thermador range with a four burner cooktop and a center indoor grilling element; Dirty floors - this is a complete falsehood. I visited the property and observed for myself that the professional cleaner had done their work; Fireplace doesn’t work – the fireplace is a heat source for the house. Doris’ stay was in the middle of June and the outdoor temperatures were between 75 and 85 degrees; and Frat house feel – I know that colleges have upgraded their facilities significantly since I was in school but if this is what they are offering I want to go back. In her review, Doris suggests she would rent the house again if the price was right. This, I believe, is the real issue. Doris was able to rent the other two properties she mentions at a much lower price (about half the rental in one case). The reason for the price differential is that our property is lakefront, bigger, accommodates more guests, its newer, better appointed, flat screens, leather couches, kayaks and other amenities other places don't offer. I would be happy to address concerns with future non-Doris renters. She can rent the 60’s condos and other “eclectically” decorated units.

Perfect for family reunion weekend

  • 4 of 5

This lovely lake home is perfect for a winter family get away reunion weekend. It is cozy and spacious with a convenient floor plan for families with adult children and their families. The basement is perfect for a larger family unit and the upstairs bedrooms are perfect for a family with an infant and young adults. We celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a grand boiled dinner cooked in a lovely kitchen. Fond memories were made.!

Great peacful location right on the lake.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here and had the most relaxing time. We were all impressed with the layout and the amenities including having access to the canoe and kayaks. The house is large enough to accommodate a large group without feeling on top of each other. I have already started recommending the place to my friends. The owner was very easy to work with as well.

Lake/Ski Rental for Christmas Season

  • 4 of 5

We found the house clean, well stocked and in good shape; although the kitchen stove needed some maintenance. The space is wonderful for large gatherings. We were there for the Christmas holiday and enjoyed the skiing and beauty of the area. I would recommend this property to a friend. Customer service was very quick and responsive.
