The sofa can be transformed into a sofa-bed, so the room can accommodate 3 people at the maximum. And also it is possible for us to combine the 2 single beds into one larger bed if you request. The manager of the DUO INN is certainly able to reply to inquiries and questions via e-mail (of course, in English writing) as you feel that you would like to stay in the historical city, Kyoto.
To contact the manager, "Yoshi," please kindly send the e-mail of yours to us at the e-mail address of ours.
As long as the DUO INN is run in the Kyoto city, the manager will be stationed at the front-desk in order to enable you (coming from all over the world) to have a comfortable stay, as if Kyoto were your own home.
Thus, please do not hesitate to ask us any questions coming up in your mind before coming over to Kyoto, ladies and gentlemen.
(Just if the manager has no idea or is not familiar with what you ask about things in Kyoto, he is going to look them up through Google, like a lot of people do all over the world. Because the manager is absolutely not the walking Encyclopedia of Kyoto, please kindly be informed that. Thank you in advance, ladies and gentlemen.)
See you later in Kyoto, ladies and gentlemen!
Our property is located good access of major universities in Kyoto, such as Ritsumeikan (Kinugasa Campus), Doshisha, and Kyoto University. Our building is located nearby the intersection called “Kitano Hakubai-cho”, where Nishioji street and Imadegawa street cross in the Kyoto city and where is well known by every taxi driver.
Since our property is located in a kind of local area, people from overseas can feel like as if they live here as alike as Kyoto permanent residents. Moreover, ours is located in kind of quiet area; therefore, people can have a restful stay after exploring the Kyoto city. Also, an English speaker will be stationed at the office from MON through SAT regularly to help out our guests with directions.
We stayed here for 2 weeks and it was absolutely wonderful. The apartment itself is very close to many beautiful temples including the famous "Golden Temple, Kinkaku-ji" as well a about a 15min walk to the Emmachi train station (JR line). There is plenty of small shops and restaurants nearby as well including a Lawsons just up the road and a large supermarket.
Yoshi and his staff and very friendly and helpful. Yoshi speaks perfect English and will go out of his way to make sure you have a lovely stay. He has a very good knowledge of the surrounding area and any activities that may interest you during your stay. Nothing was a problem for them any questions we had they were able to answer.
The apartment itself was clean and comfortable, a little small compared to what we are used to in Australia, however was quite large compared to other hotels we stayed in in Japan. There was enough space for my husband and I and our 4 year daughter(and all her toys).
Room was clean. Outlets were plentiful. Wired internet worked fine.
Room was a lot larger than most of the hotels we stayed at in Japan. So was the bathroom. This was a definite plus. Pick up a bus schedule or download it online to figure out how to get around Kyoto. Location is fine so long as you figure out how to use the buses, rent a bike, or enjoy walking.
Kyoto was hot enough during the late summer that clothes could be dried on the balcony or even in the room. Being able to wash your clothes is a definite plus.
Security wise, couldn't have been happier. State of the art door with a key combination lock that you get to set upon the start of your stay ensures that no one but you can get in and out of your room and that you don't have to worry about carrying around a key.
I would definitely stay here again, as it was very cheap considering how nice of a room it was. We didn't end up using the stove, but it was definitely a plus that there was one.
This was our first visit to Japan and look forward to returning. The Duo Inn was a great place to stay and was very affordable. The kitchenette was great for preparing our own meals. The apartment is quiet and secure. The D-type room had more than enough space for two people and the Inn is also very close to public transportation, less than a minute to multiple bus stops and routes and is less than 10 minute walk to the JR train station. The manager was extremely helpful and spoke fluent English. We would definitely recommend a stay at the DUO INN and look forward to a return visit in the future.
This was our first trip to Japan and Kyoto.
Duo Inn was a great place to stay, had plenty of space and was really affordable. The kitchenette was great for preparing our own meals. The apartment is quiet and secure. The D-type room has more than enough space for two people and we had a good sized balcony. The Inn is also very close to public transport, less than a minute to multiple bus stops and routes and is less than 10mins walk from the JR train station. The manager was very, very helpful and spoke excellent English.
We would definitely recommend a stay at the DUO IN.
This was my first trip to Kyoto, Japan. It was an amazing experience. But I got to tell you. Out of all the hotels I stayed at, this was my favorite. Not only was my room very clean and spacious, it gave me that "homey" feel. It had a small kitchen with a fridge, a table to eat on, and even a laundry room. It was like having your very own studio in Japan. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was pretty quiet at night. I got plenty of restful sleep.
Walking distance to a few attractions, plus there's a department store nearby, and a convenience store for late hours, plus the local restaurants.
The staff was very courteous and the manager spoke English. Which is a plus. And he was always there to assist me.
Definitely coming back here.
The Duo Inn is well-maintained, clean, comfortable, quiet, and convenient to public transportation. As a woman staying there alone, I felt very secure. Located on the western side of Kyoto, it is close to Kitano Shrine and the Kinkakuji Temple. The many nearby bus lines provide access to the major Kyoto attractions within a relatively short time. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance and a hot plate, rice cooker, and microwave as well as a refrigerator and basic utensils are in the room if you wish to prepare your own simple meals. The Isumiya supermarket is nearby. The Inn is on the third and fourth floors of the building and there is an elevator. There are also laundry facilities on the second floor. The owner speaks English and is very helpful in providing both written and verbal information about nearby attractions and amenities. I would highly recommend the Duo Inn to anyone wishing a clean, comfortable, affordable accommodation in Kyoto. I enjoyed my stay there and would certainly stay there again.
