We are Stu and Jan Omans. Almost 40 years ago we bought our home and raised our three sons right here. Stu, retired prof. at UCF in English, founded the Orlando Shakespeare Festival and taught for 35 years. Jan, potter, artist, created the Ultimate Bagel at the popular Winter Park Farmer's Market, where with her husband and three sons baked and sold ethnic baked products. After retiring we, purchased a 10 acre farm in Western North Carolina where we play/work for six months a year.

Just unbelievable lucky I guess.
We love the beauty of our neighborhood surrounded by lakes and walking distance to Rollins College, Winter Park Library, Morse Museum of Art holding the largest collection of Tiffany Windows and Art Deco, Cornell Museum, Mad Cow Theater...Sitting on the screened front porch, walking around Lake Virginia to Rollins College or Park Ave. Seeing the bald eagles and great blue herons fly over our house.
Our family of five recently came to the Winter Park area for a wedding and made the very fortunate choice to rent this exquisite and tranquil home just a short walk away from the nearby Lake Virginia and Rollins College. Loved every minute of it and would highly recommend this comfortable and welcoming home in this quiet neighborhood. The house had plenty of room for all of us, an eye catching garden in the backyard and a meditative front porch--enclosed-with a bench swing to catch a view of the nearby lake. The hosts went overboard our first night there when we arrived a bit late at night and they drove us into town to help us find our way around for a late night dinner! The home interior reflects the artistic and literary oriented nature of the kind owners with captivating art and pottery pieces. Kitchen is very well supplied with everything needed for a big group and the AC, etc. is top notch. Hope to go back and would highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the Winter Park/ Orlando area!
We came to Winter Park for my sons wedding, from NJ, and needed a place for our family of 5 to stay as well as dear friends who were to bake the wedding cake! The house was absolutely perfect, the light, the flow, the beautiful period details, and the kitchen had the space needed, a heavy duty mixer and dependable oven for the 4 day event of the baking and decorating of the 4 layer cake, plus.. it was delicious! The rehearsal dinner and wedding were in downtown Winter Park, the house location was so very convenient and also allowed for visiting family and friends to stop by and visit with us and the special couple. Our son is a Marine Captain stationed in Okinawa, so we really wanted to be with him as much as possible! We truly felt as if we were entertaining in our own home! As a graduate of Rollins College I felt especially at home in the neighborhood, just loved it! An easy walk to Rollins and Park Ave or for the joggers, lovely areas to run around the lake. The fresh grapefruits from the backyard trees were a daily treat. The owners were so very gracious and helpful, even left us a bottle of wine to toast the newlyweds! We hope to be able to come back to this home again, for a little more R & R!
We came to this charming 1920s home seeking privacy, quiet, and a respite from cruel Northern winter. We got all that and more, from January sunshine to long walks in the lovely Lake Virginia area--and sometimes just a nap in the recliner on the big screened porch. This is clearly a family home, comfortable, sunny, and full of original art and period touches. The neighborhood of brick streets and lush gardens is pleasant and historic; the house, roomy and comfortable, immaculately clean, and well supplied. Mattresses are excellent. The hosts were always ready to answer questions via phone or email. It was the perfect base for exploring the handsome lake town of Winter Park, from Leu Gardens and Rollins College to a new and bustling Trader Joe’s.
Wonderful home with lots of character built in the 20s. Large living and dining room were great for gatherings of our entire family of 12. Very quite neighborhood a three iron from Lake Virginia and easy walk to Rollins and Park Avenue restaurants. The kitchen was very well equipped. Was surprised that the temperature in December got into the high 80s and also the 50s. The heat and air conditioning worked like a charm. Maybe the best memory is the fresh grapefruit right off the tree in the backyard for breakfast. That was a real treat!
My family and I arrived late on Sunday and pretty much found a bed and went to sleep. Monday morning when we woke up we saw the home in the light of day, beautiful, it has a classy old world feel to it, allot of art, mostly from the family but all very nice. The longer we stayed the more we felt at home. It’s a great house with allot of character. It was very clean and you can tell the owners keep up with all the maintenance, I would recommend this to everyone, we certainly had a great stay.
We stayed in this lovely home for 2 weeks while attending an Institute at Rollins College. We were able to ride our bicycles to campus in about 5 minutes and avoid parking issues. Very clean, open and bright layout, plenty of space for our family of 5 plus 2 grandparents. Kitchen very well stocked with appliances, dishes, and basic pantry items. Peek-a-boo view of Lake Virginia from screened porch. Wifi available here as well, which was necessary for us with the classwork. Highly recommend.
