Why Scott Rosenberg chose Buellton
I am a Santa Ynez native and this was my first home. My family and I live in Redondo Beach now and use this home as our home away from home.
What makes this House unique
Central location, super clean, and one of the best values in the the S.Y. Valley!
Local Services & Businesses
Sports & Adventure Activities
Easy to stay—
Despite a perfect storm of unforeseen and unforeseeable troubles (not the least of which were the terrible wildfires in Ventura and Santa Barbara, which spewed ash and smoke even to Buellton, necessitating face masks and/or staying indoors and making Santa Barbara pretty much off-limits for visiting), the Rosenberg house was very pleasant: clean, functional, well located, quiet. Great beds and bedding! Nice backyard for lunching, reading, and the dog. Townsend’s woodpeckers, black phoebes, golden crown sparrows, and more; next door chickens clucking softly. On days when the winds took the smoke elsewhere, Buellton proved to be walkable and possessed of amenities like a fine off-leash dog park, a botanical garden, library, and a whole streetful of wine-tasting rooms and upscale eateries. Solvang, with its restaurants, bakeries, and museums, was near at hand, as were other small communities, wineries, and olive ranches out in the countryside, and open spaces for picnics and walks, like Nojoqui Falls park. Although illness cut short our stay, we would recommend Casa Rita to anyone seeking a home base for explorations in the area—so nice to come home to at the end of the day.
Carol, your review has more to say about the person you are then my little simple house in the Santa Ynez Valley.
Thank you for the thoughtful review despite the fires that affected your trip.
The property is is wonderfully simple and the back yard a great part of it.
We had a good time in this home. Scott was very accommodating to our issues. The price is right and the access to the northern Santa Barbara County very easy. Hope you have a good time here.
just right: location, neighborhood, access, accomodation
nice and hot
The house is very nice, roomy and convenient. The barrel table in the dining room is not very comfortable to sit at which is unfortunate because it is the only place with a ceiling fan. Buellton is very hot during the summer months and it would be more comfortable if there was a ceiling fan in every room since the house does not have air conditioning.
We had a very hot Summer this year! Buellton is usually 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Santa Ynez so we have been ok most of the year. However, due to the increasing intensity of heat in Buellton, we are in the process of installing a new AC! When its hot, the secret to keeping the house cool is to close all the windows early in the morning and keep them closed until the late afternoon breeze brings in the cool ocean air from the West. Even better is to get to a tasting room or restaurant and stay out adventuring until sundown. :)
Exactly what we wanted
This property was everything we were looking for. The house was clean and comfortable. We had all the accessories we needed to cut a birthday cake and drink some wine we bought during the day.
It was easily accessible off the freeway without any traffic on the city streets. We easily moved back and forth to Solvang and Los Olivos. Plenty of wineries, obviously, but also within 5- minutes of Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co and Barrelworks by Firestone Walker, and 10 minutes from Solvang Brewing Company.
We would happily stay here again on our next trip to SYV.
Great home, friendly people. Comfortable beds.
Wine country destination! Located directly off Santa Rosa Road and Route 246 in BUELLTON CA, excellent base location for exploring the Santa Rita wineries and tasting rooms as well as just a short drive to Solvang and Los Olivos tasting rooms and eateries. From our home it is a very short drive and even a shorter walk (via a path from the park to Industrial way) to the hip and cool SY Funk Zone! here you will find wineries such as Richard Sandford's prized organic wines under his Alma Rosa label, The Figueroa Mountain Brewery, and Industrial Eats, one of best and newest restaurants in the Santa Ynez Valley!
