Shenandoah Valley Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Great 2 BR 1BA Cabin on Shenandoah River

This beautiful two bedroom cabin sits on the Shenandoah River in Luray, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley. You can fish from the bank, paddle in the canoe, or watch the river flow by from the screened porch and hot tub. One bedroom has a queen size bed with large picture window looking out on the river. The other bedroom has 2 comfortable twin beds. The living room has a beautiful stone fireplace, satellite TV, DVD, stereo with CD player, and movies to choose from. There is a sleeper couch to make into a double bed. The kitchen is spacious with dining table looking out on the river. There is ample storage for your food products, and we offer an equipped kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, toaster, and pots, pans, and dishes. Cell service is spotty but Sprint is most likely to work. There is a land phone for your use with no charge for continental U.S. use.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This cabin was a great place to stay! It was clean and well-maintained. We appreciated the use of the canoe, and then of course the hot tub after several hours of rowing or hiking during the day! We liked how the campfire is next to the river - it was so beautiful to watch the moon rising over the river while making s'mores. The location of the cabin is nice, because it is close to so many things to do, but it still feels like you're away from it all. We enjoyed hiking on a trail from Skyline Drive, touring Skyline Caverns, and visiting a local park with a lake, playground, and some easier hiking trails. We would recommend this property to others. Wish our schedules would have allowed us to stay longer!

Beautiful! An absolute delight!

Our family had a blissful and fun experience! They were very friendly, helpful and cooperative. And everything was super clean and comfortable! The river runs right in front of the property, and there was a canoe and inner tubes to play in. Birds woke us in the morning, and the view from the bedroom was exquisite!!! The hot tub was also wonderful. We hope to come again and will always cherish the time we had at the cabin on the Shenandoah!

Great engagement trip!

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our three-night stay at Stone Manor, which I had chosen as the site of my marriage proposal. (She said yes. :) We had fun visiting Luray Caverns, relaxing in the hammock, playing horseshoes and sitting by the fire pit. We also did the 8-mile Double Bear Rocks hike along Pass Mountain Trail, which is less than 30 minutes from the cabin along Rt. 211. Bill dropped by the cabin just after we arrived, and he was friendly and welcoming. In mid-May, we never had to run the heat or the AC.

If you use the canoe, take Bill's advice and start out going upstream, to the right of the property, so it's easier on your return. We could only paddle so far through the very mild rapids, because the current was too strong, and we turned back. But it was still a lot of fun, and we saw large groups of turtles sunning themselves on logs.

Friday evening, we could hear someone playing music across the river, along with newly arrived neighbors chatting on both sides of Stone Manor. But they were respectful, and the noise wasn't overbearing. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, we might as well have had the river to ourselves -- it was silent except for the birds.

Cosy cabin with a beautiful view of the Shenandoah River!

  • 4 of 5

Our overall stay was wonderful! The cabin is very 'home-like' and' rustic feel' - which we wanted and loved!

Our only let down was there is no good access to the water for putting in our Hobie kayaks or for fishing on the banks. The slopes by the river are a little steep and have a lot of tree limbs down by the bank. My brother-in-law has a prosthethic leg and is unable to manuver on the slopes. When we booked - it appeared the access to the water outside of the cabin was a bit more flat and accessible. A nice addition to a very beautiful location would be a small fishing pier with easy access down to it from the cabin. :) For those of you who don't need 'easy' access - there are plenty of free boat ramps close by that you can use.

We look forward to returning to Stone Manor again and enjoying that peaceful place!

As a side note - I had to contact the owners several times with questions prior to our visit - and they were very nice and also prompt in the responses! They are very nice people to work with which helped make our weekend at the cabin a very pleasant stay!

Would highly recommend this place.........we loved it!!

Riverfront cabin near Skyline Drive

  • 5 of 5

WOW.....First of all, let me say this cabin has everything you want in a rental--riverfront views, hot tub, fireplace, fire pit, grill, smoker, horseshoes, canoe, tubes, etc. and the kitchen was fully stocked too! The view of the river from the master bedroom is spectacular....and there were even fresh flowers upon our arrival...My only complaint we didn't get to stay long enough. Thank you so much for your hospitality. I hope we get to return in the fall to enjoy the cabin for few days instead of a few hours but they were some of the best hours in all of the Shenandoah Valley!!!

Great

Beautiful location. Nice rustic cabin. Good support items (towels, pans, bedding, fire log, canoe....). Might want to consider bringing drinking water as the tap water has a distinctive smell and taste. Would highly recommend this cabin and will be back
