Overview

Kalama Tract House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

The Happy Kailua Beach House is located 1/2 block down from Kalama Beach Park a small, clean local beach park which has showers, restrooms, and a nice grassy area with picnic benches. The waves at the beach are as gentle as the soothing tradewinds, and the white sand is as soft as flour. You'll have no excuse not to make the three minute walk to the beach each day! We have chairs, mats, boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, buckets, shovels, and a large wheeled cooler to equip your visits to this wonderful beach area.

Ours is a newer home on a quiet street off Kalaheo Ave. It offers you a clean place to relax and unwind, barbeque on the lanai with family and friends, or just nap the day away... We have a portable crib and high chair for your little ones. As well, wireless internet access is provided for your laptop. Our home has hardwood floors throughout, a spacious main room and kitchen area, a master bedroom with private renovated full bathroom, two guest bedrooms with another full bathroom, and a lanai and yard out back. Downtown Kailua with its coffee houses, great restaurants, and shops is near enough to go by foot (fifteen minutes)or beach cruiser (three minutes). The hot malasadas at Agnes' Portugese Bakery are rather insane.

Thanks for dropping in. Enjoy your stay in Paradise!

About Bill Holt (owner)

My wife and I fell in love with Kailua Beach and decided to make it our home away from home and our antidote for the stresses of living in the SF Bay Area. We love bringing all our friends and showing them the Real Hawaii. Such a wonderful getaway!

Bill Holt (owner) purchased this house in 2005

Why Bill Holt (owner) chose Kailua

Visiting Kailua is unlike any other vacation to Hawaii you may have taken. There are no tall buildings, no throngs of people, no booze cruises. There is just a long, wonderful, white sand beach with no rocks, riptides, or reefs. At the Kalama Park, here at the center of the beach, the waves come in high enough to ride but break far enough out for little ones to play in the sand. There is a calm breeze from the northeast that keeps things from getting too hot, and showers and restrooms at the beach park to keep you from having to go home too soon. But, hey, if you need our house it's just a half a block away.

Our Happy House is a great place to use as a base of operations, whether it be a day trip to the north shore to watch world class surfing, a trip into Honolulu for great shopping, or a series of three-minute walks back and forth to the beach via Kalama Park. Nothing is too far away, and yet you're nicely removed. At the end of the day you'll be staying in a welcoming, diverse Hawaiian community that just feels GOOD. Waking up to the sunrise over the Mokes is a truly special experience.

The town of Kailua is big enough to offer many of the things you want while on vacation without being so busy and crowded to keep you from seeking them out. There are many great restaurants, shops, and coffee houses to enjoy by car, beach-cruiser, or foot.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Perfect home close to the perfect Hawiian beach. Very clean and equipped with everything you need in the house and on the beach. Very nice sized rooms. Much nicer than the pictures on the internet show. We loved it and will highly recommend it to others.

August in Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

Our first trip to Hawaii, to attend a wedding, reconnect with old friends and do some sightseeing. What a great house! Spacious and friendly, has everything one needs, and the ACs in the bedrooms were much appreciated - it can still be hot in Hawaii in August...close to the beautiful beach so that a pre-breakfast swim is a reality, close to the town center for shopping and restaurants but still in a purely residential area, quiet and private. I do hope we will be back!

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, daughter, son-in-law and two toddler grandchildren used this house and its great location to have great time in Paradise. Only a block from Kalama State Beach Park and 5 minutes from unbelievable Lani Kai we were able to escape the congestion of Waikiki for the more laid back area of Kailua. The house is just minutes from downtown Kailua and some great eating locations and from the beach. The house is comfortable and private and was the perfect location for our family vacation. The only downside was that it had to end!

Living like a local and loving it!

  • 5 of 5

This rental was positioned in a perfect spot to hit the lovely beaches of Kailua and Lanikai. For us, this was a reunion of sorts as we visited family and old friends during our stay. The house was very comfortable and everything you could ask for in a rental home. Boogie boards, chairs, etc. and a wagon to bring it down the block to the beach. We absolutely loved our stay and this house and location had very much to do with our overall satisfaction. If you aren't happy here, then you may not ever be. Lived the fantastic life of a local. Unfortunately, our schedule did not allow us to stay much longer. Oh, one last thing: I highly recommend guave juice and vodka as a breakfast drink to set the tone. LOL

Perfect location, tasteful vintage style and comfortable, with everything you need for the beach!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your Happy Kailua Beach House! We had a very enjoyable and relaxing ten days on Oahu. Our three boys (5,7, and 9) had so much fun boogie boarding at Kailua Beach, visiting North Shore, zip lining, riding their razor scooters around town, etc. Your home is in the perfect location... We loved the nearby shops and restaurants and spent WAYYYY too much money at Whole Foods (how could we not... that place is amazing). We could not have been happier with the vintage Hawaii, open air feel of the house. All the towels and linens were high quality, your taste in music/art is excellent and everything that we could have wanted for the beach was provided (seriously everything!) We were very impressed with the house... It was perfect for our family of five and absolutely set the tone for our best vacation yet!!!! Thank you for being so easy to work with, Bill, from start to finish. We appreciate you!

We have returned home after a wonderful 2 weeks in Kailua. The house was just as described and we were very happy with the rental, the location, the town and the beach. The owner and the property manager were always helpful and responsive. Thank-you.
