It's just a great place to be!!!
We are retirees living in the mountains of North Georgia. In addition to Morgan Ridge Cottage, we are co-owners of the Hiawassee Antique Mall. So even though we are "retired", we are seldom done working! Morgan Ridge is our guest house that we bought for family and friends to use, and it sits adjacent to our residence. We are proud of the reputation and following we have acquired after 11 seasons, and look forward to many more.
Jerri Delaney purchased this cottage in 2005
Morgan Ridge is located about 5 miles outside of the downtown area of Hiawassee. It is nestled in a quiet neighborhood, about half of which is vacation homes. The remainder homes are full-time residents. If you want peace and quiet, then you will love it here!
My goal in going to Morgan Ridge was a quiet, relaxing vacation with my daughter. The cottage was very comfortable and clean and the ammenities were fantastic. Whether you want to sit on the spacious rear deck and enjoy the view or take a rigorous hike to magnifcant waterfalls that are closeby, the area has something for everyone. I have already recommended your cottage to family and friends. Thank you for being so gracious.
Pleasant quiet wonderful
I agree with the last person that screens would be nice. Then the AC would not always have to be used at night. Note on AC says to not turn down lower than 76, which was not comfortable on the very hot weekend we rented. Although the property was comfortable there was nothing special about it. The view off the deck was of the house and road below the house, disappointing--because it looks like a woods view on the internet. I have to use a cane and the steps from the parking space to the door were not safe for me.
I absolutely loved the Morgan Ridge Cottage! The open kitchen/living room are very spacious, and the furnishings are awesome! When we arrived after a 6+ hour drive, we were tired and hungry, and were able to quickly make ourselves "at home". Everything about the cottage was immaculate. My husband's exact words were "If your family had a mountain house, this would be it!" The back deck is gated, and was perfect for our 2 dogs. They enjoyed watching all of the birds, squirrels, and neighbors. Even though there are neighbors, it doesn't feel like it. We were looking for a spot that was quiet and peaceful, and we found it! There are plenty of trails and waterfalls/rivers within a comfortable driving distance. We hiked one that was about 30 minutes away. We also visited Brasstown Bald (the highest point in GA). There is a $5 per person entrance fee, but is totally worth it. We hiked the very steep 6/10 of a mile trail to the top (although there is a shuttle available). We ate dinner at Brothers at Willow Ranch (10 minute drive). The next day, we visited Helen, GA, and ate dinner at Muller's Famous Fried Cheese Cafe. Both places were delicious! The best part of the trip was having such a comfortable place to "come home" to after our excursions. I would (and have!) recommended this property to family members, and hope that I can convince my husband that we need to go back again!
My wife and I needed a break away and wanted a place quite. Morgan Ridge Cottage was quite, clean, and very affordable. We did a bunch of short hikes and viewed various waterfalls with in a hour from where it is located. We met Jerri who made us fell very welcome.
We will be back...
