About Teri Smith

First thing you need to know about me? I still pick up the phone, so if you're interested in knowing who you are renting from, want to $ave some $$$ on service fees, or have questions you want answered right away; give me a call! I'd be happy to hear from you!

Moving on....

Someone once told me 'Find a job you love & never work a day in your life' Glad I took that advice! Running Chicago Guest House was the BEST decision I ever made in my life!

Looking back, I probably should have taken a lot more good advice; guess it's never too late! :o)

Teri Smith purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Teri Smith chose Chicago

This is not your typical cookie-cutter rental; my personality & style shines through!

My goal has always been to have my Guests experience the sense of having arrived ‘home’ when they walk through the door---to feel as comfortable & relaxed here in Chicago as they do their own home. Each time I read another testimonial; I think to myself. Mission Accomplished!

What makes this apartment unique

The Guest House on Lakewood Avenue has three apartments, each floor can be rented separately or rent them together for larger gatherings--up to 21.

It's great to all be under one roof, without being on top of one another--the three separate spaces offer privacy when you need it.

And best of all--the little piece of nature outside the back door. The garden is private & peaceful--perfect place to decompress, relax and enjoy.

Great Easter Vaction

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. the house was beautiful and well kept. Parking was available in the back and we did not have to worry about street parking. Walking distance from the stadium. Everything you ever need for cooking was there and the grill in the back made for an excellent out door experience.

Owner's Response: Tricia, So glad you enjoyed your stay! Parking sure does come in handy when all those folks show up to watch baseball! Ha! And I'm glad the weather worked out so you could grill out. Garden isn't in full bloom yet, but still nice to sit out there. Hope to have you back again!

In the shadow of Wrigley

  • 5 of 5

Teri is a special host. Very prompt on all our questions. The HOME on Lakewood was great. Just a quick walk to Wrigley. Very quiet neighborhood ( Cubs were out of town)… These four brothers and wives from rural Ohio farmland loved the experience. A clean home and a gracious host makes all the difference. Highly recommend. Bob, Ohio

Owner's Response: Very special?! You make me blush! :o) I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. And yes, it was quiet with no games, but it's still pretty quiet on Lakewood even on game day. So next time you plan a trip--plan to see a game! Hope to have you all back again soon. Teri

Amazing property!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. Nine adults (our kids and friends) fit well in the five bedrooms. Wonderful location in Wrigleyville area of the city. Kitchen and bathrooms are modern. The rest if the house is period correct (except they thankfully have AC) and reminds me of my grandmothers house. Five stars for sure!! Thank you Teri.

Owner's Response: Thank you--so happy you enjoyed yourself! Ah! 'period correct'----vintage perfectly paired with modern amenities! If you only knew how much easier it would have been to pull everything out (it was all painted)--but Nooooooo, keeping the integrity of the 1903 historic home meant everything to me. Months of stripping all that wood almost killed me! LOL Glad my hard work was appreciated! Teri

Excellent Property! Close to everything. Excellent service by owner. I strongly recommend it!

Excellent Property! We (several colleagues and myself) were in town for a meeting and rented two units (8 bedrooms) in the same building. Everything about our experience was fantastic - from beginning to end. The rental process was simple - Teri answered all questions promptly and all information was received in a timely manner. The property was exactly as promised. The house was clean and modern, tasteful decor, bedrooms were comfortable, and the kitchen well appointed. The backyard and front porch were fantastic places to relax! The metro was very close. Very easy to get downtown for our meeting. The area itself was close to Wrigley field and numerous bars and restaurants were steps away. The local pub (Guthrie's) is just 2 blocks down the street and Southport was only a couple of blocks away and Wrigleyville a few blocks in the other direction. No shortage of things to do, places to eat, or grab a cold one! I would highly recommend this place. We have stayed in many vacation rentals for meetings and this, by far, was the best one yet.

Owner's Response: You rock! Thank you for the A-MA-ZING review! I’m glad it wasn't all work and no play so you found time to get a taste of the neighborhood AND you found Guthrie’s. I love that place!! No one notices it because it off the beaten path, hence mostly filled with locals playing board games and watching sports. Wish they had food; I’d be there all the time! I look forward to hearing from you again for future events!

Home to our beloved Cubs. Whether you get to see a game or not, you don't want to miss taking a stroll over to the corner of Clark and Addison to see one of baseball’s oldest ball parks nestled among the historic greystone buildings that make up this charming neighborhood—a beautiful sight!

Spend the day shopping Southport Avenue’s trendy boutiques and Belmont Avenue’s quirky shops and vintage stores for those one of a kind finds!

Live music and dancing for the young and old alike

Comedy & Improv at it’s best--guaranteed a good time!

Tamales to Tiramisu --the dining choices are endless!

Though you may be tempted to never leave the neighborhood, it would be a shame to miss out on all the city has to offer! Jump on either a Brown or Red Line train--either will take you direct to downtown and all of Chicago's attractions!

Or if you're up to the challenge, walk or ride along the spectacular lakefront to downtown. Divvy Bikes are available in the neighborhood and there is really no better way to really see this amazing city! Ride alongside the beautiful boat filled harbors, and through the lush and colorful gardens of Lincoln Park and while you’re there, catch a glimpse of some of the animals at the zoo. And though it’s only a four mile ride, you may enjoy a little energy break at one of the three beach side bistro's along the way! Once downtown, you can park the bike at any of hundreds of stations throughout the city.
