Someone once told me 'Find a job you love & never work a day in your life' Glad I took that advice! Running Chicago Guest House was the BEST decision I ever made in my life!
Looking back, I probably should have taken a lot more good advice; guess it's never too late! :o)
Teri Smith purchased this apartment in 2005
This is not your typical cookie-cutter rental; my personality & style shines through!
My goal has always been to have my Guests experience the sense of having arrived ‘home’ when they walk through the door---to feel as comfortable & relaxed here in Chicago as they do their own home. Each time I read another testimonial; I think to myself. Mission Accomplished!
The Guest House on Lakewood Avenue has three apartments, each floor can be rented separately or rent them together for larger gatherings--up to 21.
It's great to all be under one roof, without being on top of one another--the three separate spaces offer privacy when you need it.
And best of all--the little piece of nature outside the back door. The garden is private & peaceful--perfect place to decompress, relax and enjoy.
We rented all three apartments in order to accommodate our children and grandchildren who were joining us for the week. We were greeted by beautiful flowers, notebooks full of suggested shops, sites and restaurants, and a lovely private back yard which was totally unexpected. Teri has thought of everything that you could want in your own home. We ALL were sad to leave. Don't miss this one!
Fabulous place! It had everything we needed. Well maintained and super clean with great space for our group. Owner, Teri, was great about keeping us informed prior to our trip and the property manager (Lucy?) was there the first day to check and make sure we didn't need anything. They have thought of everything from umbrellas to a cart to carry your groceries if needed. Wrigleyville is within walking distance and there is a Jewel Osco that is close as well. We took the train up so we had no vehicle, but we didn't need one. Highly recommend this suite, especially if you are taking in a Cubs game and want to explore the surrounding neighborhood.
Teri's guest house in Wrigleyville, was again, a great place to stay. We had a large group that was in town for some baseball and the house was ready and welcoming when we arrived. Checking in is easy, the house is well appointed and very comfortable. We met some of the staff that keeps the house up and running and they were extremely pleasant and helpful as well. We will continue to stay here as long as we visit Chicago on a regular basis.
Our group of aging college buddies had a great time. How can you not like being 3 blocks from Wrigley field. Wonderful neighborhood - Uber pickup service was outstanding.
5 bedrooms - all visitors happy with accommodations - will return
This was my second time staying at this location. The first time was about eight years ago with some friends. This year I attended a fire conference in Indianapolis and told my coworker's that we should go to Chicago afterwards and I knew the perfect place to stay. Once again, we enjoyed ourselves and the accommodations were more than expected.
Teri goes out of her way to make sure any question you have will be answered before you have a chance to ask. When you arrive there are two notebooks that detail the home, appliances, amenities, the surrounding attractions and the greater Chicago area. I'm not a baseball fan but if were this would be the location to stay and see the Cubs, Wrigley Field is a short walk away.
The kitchen was great and it accommodated five firefighters cooking daily meals. We walked 10 minutes to Whole Foods for groceries and took a short drive to Trader Joe's as well. The kitchen is well stocked with the necessary tools to feed a family and there's a gas grill out back as well. After dinner we usually walked to Dairy Queen and then walked everything off just strolling around the neighborhood.
I myself don't like to travel home with dirty laundry so I was happy to find a full size washer and dryer in the basement. Speaking of the basement level, there's a huge jetted tub in the bathroom that I forgot about until writing this review.
There's a two car garage, a parking space next to the garage and in one of the folders I mentioned earlier there's a daily parking sticker for on street parking. I promise you won't find a better location in Wrigleyville or Chicago. Chicago Guesthouse has so much more to offer than a hotel or bed and breakfast. Quiet comfort in a busy bustling city that's well worth the money.
My friends and I met up and stayed at the Wrigley Suite this past weekend and we were blown away with how awesome this place was. Absolutely perfect location for a Cubs fan. Close to Wrigley but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. The accommodations were great. Plenty of space for the 5 of us and it was incredibly cozy and comfortable. Felt like we were staying in a real home. This was far and away better than staying at a hotel. Teri was great to deal with, super prompt and responsive and very helpful. We can't wait to return.
LAKEVIEW / WRIGLEYVILLE
Home to our beloved Cubs. Whether you get to see a game or not, you don't want to miss taking a stroll over to the corner of Clark and Addison to see one of baseball’s oldest ball parks nestled among the historic greystone buildings that make up this charming neighborhood—a beautiful sight!
Spend the day shopping Southport Avenue’s trendy boutiques and Belmont Avenue’s quirky shops and vintage stores for those one of a kind finds!
THE NIGHT LIFE
Live music and dancing for the young and old alike
'OFF LOOP' THEATRES

Though you may be tempted to never leave the neighborhood, it would be a shame to miss out on all the city has to offer! Jump on either a Brown or Red Line train--either will take you direct to downtown and all of Chicago's attractions!
Or if you're up to the challenge, walk or ride along the spectacular lakefront to downtown. Divvy Bikes are available in the neighborhood and there is really no better way to really see this amazing city! Ride alongside the beautiful boat filled harbors, and through the lush and colorful gardens of Lincoln Park and while you’re there, catch a glimpse of some of the animals at the zoo. And though it’s only a four mile ride, you may enjoy a little energy break at one of the three beach side bistro's along the way! Once downtown, you can park the bike at any of hundreds of stations throughout the city.
