Great house in the woods. Clean and open.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great reunion weekend with 9 adults and 10 young kids in this house. We may have maxed out the capacity of this house, but it worked well. House was clean and open and the woods are beautiful and quiet (except for our children!)

A perfect experience!

  • 5 of 5

I was lucky enough to be able to rent this house for a week with my extended family. This house fit comfortably all 10 of us, and there was so much to do in this area -- hikes, farmers market, & museums. Not to mention that the fall foliage was beautiful! The owner was very accommodating and responsive, as well as was very helpful with finding activities. The listing is described accurately, although even more beautiful in person. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a vacation in the Berkshires!

A beautiful spacious wooded home!

  • 5 of 5

Very lovely home with all the comforts of home. If you are looking for a nice escape from the city or just your day to day life at home this is a fantastic place to visit. Becket is right by Jacob's pillow and only 20-30 minute drive to Lee, Stockbridge, Great Barrington or Lenox. This home has lots of space and beds we were nicely spread out. The owner is responsive and we had nothing to complain about!

Great retreat in the Berkshires

  • 5 of 5

A very nice, quiet retreat in the woods. Large space good for big crowds. A bit of a drive to major towns, but close to lake, Jacob's Pillow, and hiking. About 30 minutes to Butternut skiing. A wonderful place to relax and gather with friends and family! Owner is responsive and has a caretaker in the area, would recommend.

Nice house

  • 3 of 5

Nice large house with an open plan that can accommodate many people which is just what we were looking for. The kitchen has two coffee makers (we used both), but no other small appliances and very little in the way of cooking utensils. There were no pot holders, and it is not very user friendly for people who want to cook. I cleaned one of the drawers myself and ignored the greasy articles (which I couldn't identify) on top of the oven. There was 12 inches of snow when we arrived, and we could not find a shovel. Tried to use the fireplace, but clearly it had not been used in a long time. There is a trash compactor which was filthy, and we did not use it as there were no instructions or indication of whether or not it was usable. The "sun porch" is unheated, so we used it as a "refrigerator room" for food and drinks. The bathrooms were nice and clean. There was no heat on at all in the house when we arrived, and no written instructions for garbage and recyclables.

The owner seemed confused about details each time I contacted her, and the person who cleans the home was not even aware we were coming until I called her.

This is a very secluded house in a quiet wooded neighborhood, which would have been delightful if there had not been so much snow. This would be a good choice for a summer rental - but bring your own kitchen utensils and equipment!

Owner's Response: In response to rental for Thaksgiving: 1-The house is heated electrically and not put on until renters arrive. 2-If you look in drawers, under counters, upper shelves you will find all the cooking pots, pans etc. that you would need. My own family of 14 has spent much time here and never at a loss for cooking equipment!! I do not use potholders. Sorry I use dishtowels, they are bigger and I like the better. I will however buy pot holders for the future. 3-The 12 inches of snow is out of my control but I have a snow contractor who comes once there is 2 inches of snow. If not the renter should call the housekeeper. The snow shovel is always in the front closet and if missing should again advise housekeeper. 4-You are correct in saying the fireplace was not used in a long time. We do not usually use it in the summer. The last time it was used was last winter!! 5-The garbage compacter is used as the garbage pail and has not worked since I bought it. If you read the instructions for the house or called the housekeeper she would have advised you of all of these issues.

Located closely to Jacob's Pillow, Tanglewood, Berkshire Playhouse, Shakespeare Theater, Norman Rockwell Museum as well as shopping in Great Barrington, Lee (outlets, Lenox, etc. There are many national parks for hiking and fishing, such as October Mt. Bash Bish Falls, etc. Ponds and lakes are available for swimming, kayaking and canoeing. Blueberry, strawberry and apple picking during the appropriate season. In the winter cross country skiing from the door of the house. ( It is situated on 2 acres of forest with many more adjacent forests.) There is a cross country ski resort 4 miles from the house in addition to Jiminy Peak, Brodie, Butternut, Bosquet and Catamount where you can snowboard or go downhill skiing.

Ski: Butternut, Catamont and Jiminy Peak are the ski areas nearbye.
