About John Callahan

We purchased this property after owning a house 7 miles away in Woodstock. We use the house primarily for skiing, but have gotten to enjoy the other seasons almost as much. There is so much to do and see here.

John Callahan purchased this house in 2005

Why John Callahan chose Loon Mountain Area

We bought this house after owning a 100 year old converted school house, in Woodstock, which required constant repairs. And in this part of NH there typically is no zoning so you might have a lovely home and soon find a trailer park in your back yard. Our house is in a residential community (Known as Lost Valley) which provides a pool, tennis court, services and regulates construction.

The house offers a convenient , yet quiet location. Close to the center of North Woodstock and Lincoln with access to year round activities.

What makes this house unique

More that 3400 sq. ft on 3 levels with lots of beds and activity areas for kids and adults. The house has two sets of washer/dryers, two kitchens and three flat screen TV's.

We have dozens of comments from our past renters that we would pleased to send to you.

Guestbook comments from the manager

In one word – fabulous!!

Everything was wonderful and we were very grateful for the air conditioning.

We look forward to rebooking again next year.

Thank you for the opportunity to spend a week at your wonderful house.

Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here over Thanksgiving and had a great time! The huge house is absolutely beautiful especially with a little snow on the ground. It was very easy to find- directions from owner perfect. I would definitely recommend this property to all. My family has stayed at many rental homes for vacation and this one is our favorite by far. We hope to return in the future,

Snowy Stay in North Woodstock

  • 5 of 5

We had a great holiday week stay at the house in North Woodstock. There was a major snowstorm on the day prior to our arrival that resulted in 2 feet of fresh snow. The property manager did a great job in plowing the driveway and shoveling the walkways which made our arrival easy. The house is a short distance from the Main Street area of North Woodstock and very close to Loon Mountain for skiing. John (the owner) was great to work with - the booking and check in process was extremely easy. The house was clean and in great condition - the pictures don't do it justice. We had a total of 9 adults and there was plenty of room for everyone - with beds to spare! I would highly recommend this house and we are looking forward to a return visit.

Lovely, comfortable home.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much.

The home is huge, well appointed and easy ... my husband loved the main floor master suite and the remote control gas fireplace in the great room was perfect to get the chill off.

Plenty of parking and very comfy beds.

Lots of huge TV's and I'll be honest the living room one is tricky to work with 6 remotes for so many components and sound system but happily there was a very handy manual.

Outstanding foliage topped off this picture perfect holiday weekend.

We hope to return next year.

Thank you so much,

The Mullen Family

Owner's Response: We always love to hear back from our guests, and over 30 years we have had hundreds who loved the house and enjoyed their stay. We understand that the controls for the upstairs entertainment system can be complicated, but there is one remote that will control everything. This remote should be the only one left out, but the cleaning crew doesn't always do this.

Refreshing, thoughtful and delightful.

The Home was absolutely lovely. We rented for a family get together of 9 adults and many children. Everyone had more than enough sleeping space. There were plenty of pans to cook food in,plenty of seating. The wall where the living room is all window so there was plenty of light all say long. We visited both the indoor and outdoor pool and had a lot of fun at each. I wish that we lived closer as this house is one I would definitely rent again and again. The entire family kept remarking that they were enjoying the house during the entire stay. We were able to separate the adults from the older kids while the little ones slept as we enjoyed the evenings. Plenty of space, just wonderful accommodations, and fast, courteous, and warm interaction with the owner. Oh, almost forgot, the master bedroom was gorgeous and huge, with beautiful large skylights that made it a pleasure to awake in the morning. We ate at a steak and seafood restaurant across the street from the Kankamagus Lodge one evening. The seafood was so fresh and scrumptious and the server was so attentive. They definitely could handle a. Large group. Sadly, I forgot the name, however it has a 6ft carved lobster out front. Ribs, lobsters, salads, everything was a delish. If you like seafood and steak, you won't be dissapointed and it is a few minutes away. Also, the grocery store is very, very close and convenient. We kept forgetting things and hopping there: they were open 24 hrs. Very helpful.

Under the deck, on the lower deck is an extra large hammock. This was really helpful for a few of the older kids to escape the noise of the little ones and read, etc.

Thank you John and Carol, for allowing us to rent your lovely home. I know everyone who stays will enjoy it immensely.

White Mountains Stay

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed this home! We were a family of 13. 7 adults, 4 teens, 2 children (and 1 dog!). The sleeping arrangements were perfect. Lots of room for everyone, plenty of bathrooms too. Pool & tennis court were very nice & used by our family as well. You do get a little work out if you choose to walk there. Kitchen was gorgeous & fully stocked. Home has beautiful windows everywhere. The mattress in the small bedroom on the lower level could use replacing. A fire pit would be a wonderful addition as well. We hiked the Lost River & in the Basin area. Plenty of great restaurants. Gorgeous area of NH & an amazing house!

Wonderful house for Reunions

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Callahan's house in early June for a long weekend, and although the weather did not cooperate, we enjoyed all the beautiful indoor space the house had to offer. The bedrooms were clean & sheets felt great - the kitchen had everything we needed. [ Second fridge in basement is very helpful.] The grounds were gorgeous, and very well taken care of. Lots of parking!
