About the property

Lodge, 4 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

Riverside Lodge (see all our photos on the links tab)offers visitors a relaxing, private yet accessible vacation locale. The style is 'Adirondack-camp' and we have gone to great extents to bring the natural beauty and warm feeling of the region into our home. Our guests have complimented our décor and appreciate the 'upscale' nature of the decoration. If you are looking for comfort and privacy with all of the amenities of a home, Riverside Lodge will make a charming and memorable retreat for you, your family and friends.

The master bedroom/bath combination has a Queen size antique brass and metal bed, sitting area and TV with cable, DVD. It has a large window overlooking the lake. A late night glance at the lake will capture your attention when the moon reflects beautifully over the water. Early risers will appreciate the mist that rises from the lake that appears as smooth as glass except for an occasional pair of loons that appear to rise early as well.

The 'cottage bedroom' has a queen-size bed and is decorated with natural wood walls, and a small birch tree to bring the feeling of the outside to the inside. This bedroom also has a large window facing the lake.

Our '3rd upstairs bedroom is decorated in rustic woods, moose motif and features one queen bed.

A full size bathroom with a shower and bathtub is available to the bedrooms on this floor as well.

Our main floor of the lodge features a brand new country gourmet kitchen with eat-in area, access to upper deck area and barbecue grill. Through beautifully appointed yellow-birch columns you view the lake and high peaks from the kitchen and enter into a formal dining room with pocket doors, for privacy, seating for 10, overlooking the upper decks and lake chain entrance.

The dining area opens onto the living room area with comfortable furnishings just perfect for relaxing after a full day of outdoor activities. The room has Adirondack accents and accessories. It is bright and sunny and has awesome views of our private lakefront. A fireplace with an extraordinary wood mantle and wooden natural beamed ceiling highlight the richly appointed room. A sun-porch entrance is accessible through this room which features rattan furnishings and great views of the sunset.

On the same floor a full bath highlighted with white-birch accessories features a bath/tub shower combination.

The Riverside Lodge guestroom has enough room for a family of four. There is a queen sofa bed, TV and DVD entertainment center, and a trundle bed, which opens to accommodate two single beds. This room has access to the screen-porch as well with a split Dutch door for cool evening breezes.

The lower level of the lodge has a family room with fireplace, game table, entertainment center, and TV/DVD combination, and library of tapes, books and board games. French doors lead to lower decks and the hot tub, great for evening relaxing during summer or winter.

A full laundry area with washer and dryer is available for use of guests. Linens are provided and housekeeping is provided at the end of your stay.

The grounds have been manicured to provide you with a private, natural and rustic feeling. Woods surround us, it is quite private and the lakefront is accessible via a stone staircase. The boat dock accommodates more than one motor boat. We provide a canoe for your use. It is a lovely area to enjoy the lake, take in the sun or relax during sunsets. Inquire into use of pontoon boat.

Outdoor activities include swimming and boating, fishing, hiking (well-marked trails for all ability levels), downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobile riding, skating, ice fishing and rock-climbing. There are many special events throughout the year that now include the Lake Placid film festival, ESPN great outdoor games, Olympic trials and the iron-man. There are art galleries, museums, movie theaters and playhouses to visit.

For those that prefer, there is a top rated spa and other smaller spas for relaxing therapies. The area also has a tremendous amount of diverse restaurants ranging from 5-star to our favorite outdoor bar-b-que joint. We provide a book with 'our' picks, suggestions and menus.

We limit the number of guests to 10 and insist on no smoking in the lodge.

Tucked away on the lakeside waterfront views from almost every room- how could we resist?

What makes this lodge unique

This home is year round and has a number of fireplaces and a wonderful lake for ice skating in the deep of winter. The back yard has a fire pit where we snuggle by the fire all seasons and make messy s'mores with our children and grandchildren.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Despite the weather putting a damper on our outdoor adventure plans, the house made up for it. Beautiful views from every room! Close enough to walk to town , yet tucked back in the woods and makes you feel away from it all. House was well stocked and cozy. So many rooms indoors and out that you could get lost. Would be fantastic anytime of year. Thank you again for our relaxing get away.

Fantastic property, wonderful owners

  • 5 of 5

Saranac Lake is the perfect place to stay for people who want to recreate and enjoy the area - mountains, skiing, lakes, etc- but don't want the hustle and bustle of Lake Placid. This lodge was perfect. It has ample space, gorgeous views, amazing newly renovated kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and linens, and decks with great views and a hot tub. The owners and property managers are incredibly responsive. When we arrived, the hot tub wasn't heating up properly, and within an hour we had called and had the problem resolved. We loved the views, the picture windows, the privacy, the well-stocked kitchen, and the peace and serenity. Easily 10-12 people could stay here with ample room, although there were only 2 of us and we loved relaxing and just being together. All total- just perfect.

Location Location

  • 5 of 5

This house was wonderful for our group. We had 6 adults and 3 children and we were all comfortable. The view over the lake was great and we were able to ski right out the back door. For winter carnival this is an ideal location as you are within quick access to most events and for the fireworks you can just walk out on the frozen lake and watch them. The only item that guests should be aware of is that parking is very limited, we had 3 cars and parked them diaginally. They barely fit and if our cars were large SUV/Pickups I am not sure you could get more than 2. All in all our stay was amazing!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely comments about your stay. We are so happy you enjoyed the winter festivities. The parking may be a little more challenging in winter and we will ensure we get the plows in there to clean that up. Thanks for bringing that to our attention. We hope you will come back for another visit soon. Parking clarity: Park head on or back into the stone wall and you will be able to get at least 5 vehicles across from front of garage to end of stone wall. In summer we also have additional parking on a grassy hill right next to the stone wall.

Great stay - beautiful large home

  • 5 of 5

Nothing bad to say here. Right on the lake, spacious kitchen, dining room and living room. Only downside was the hot tub not being on the 1st floor deck but instead below. Trees block your view of the lake from the hot tub in that situation. Otherwise a 5 star rating on the house.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review. The hot tub gets so much use in the winter we chose to have the overhang of the 1st floor for shelter- great on snowy nights! Come back again
