Why Mac & Yazmin Peebles chose Cottonwood
The minute we walked in the house, we fell in love with the views! We love that all the rooms are large and private and the living area is warm and conducive to family time. The deck is perfect for watching the changing colors of the Red Rocks, the stars, lightning showers during monsoon season, and hot air balloons in the mornings. Dinners al fresco are pure bliss! We decided that family vacations in a quaint town full of outdoor adventure opportunities would be the perfect place for four boys. Over the last 10 years, we have had so many wonderful times together, away from it all. Our home has been the perfect place to build those memories.
What makes this House unique
We had visited the area and fell in love with the absolute beauty of the Verde Valley and everything it has to offer. We picked Cottonwood because it has not lost its old-town, quaint feel of small town America; and because it is literally in the middle of everything there is to do in the area. We love to travel, but we are not fond of touristy places. We like to stay where regular folk live and experience the area like 'locals', not tourists. We support small businesses and eat at local neighborhood joints. Our home is located in a place where we can do that; where the neighbors are friendly and look out for each other. If you stay in Sedona, you will find yourself driving through Cottonwood multiple times, because a lot of the beautiful, cool, and amazing places to see and visit are down this way. In fact, Cottonwood is the heart of the Verde Valley Wine-Trail and the heart of what is known as the Turquoise Triangle (Jerome-Cottonwood-Sedona); where you can enjoy the Wine Trail from Page Springs to Jerome Ghost Town turned artist colony, Tuzigoot, Verde Canyon Train, Old Towns Cottonwood and Clarkdale, Camp Verde, Waterfront Park, Dead horse Ranch, Verde Railroad, Sycamore Canyon, Out of Africa, and much more!

This was the second time we stayed here. We love that its so clean and super comfortable. The deck has a spectacular view, so sunsets are incredible. We live in the valley, so the star gazing here is incredible too. We were here for our daughter's baby shower, and the kitchen had more than all I needed to prepare my recipes. This will continue to be our first choice when we come up here!
Nice house in a modest neighborhood. It was exactly what we were expecting.
Working with the property owners was great, and they were very helpful throughout the reservation process. They responded to messages very quickly as well.
It was an absolutely wonderful home. They had everything you could ask for and more. Including an amazing view, massive porch where you could view the entire Verde Valley. They had an just the right amount of towels, sheets, pots, pans, utensils etc. And the washer, dryer & dish washer worked perfectly. The TV in the living room was amazing too, it had YouTube, DVR, DVD, VHS, Netflix, etc.
Everything was wonderful!!!
Great view, great location & lovely home
There was just 2 of us, so this house was very spacious, but could not beat the price for the month. It was very well stocked & equipped with items for cooking, comfort & info on the area. We loved the hiking trails book & used it in Sedona. The house was very clean and we did not see a single bug or ant or anything the whole month of Jan. when we stayed. It is 15 miles to Sedona, around 10 miles to Camp Verde where we had an annual pass to Out of Africa Wildlife Park, which I highly recommend; maybe 10-15 miles to Jerome and about an hour to Prescott or Flagstaff, both beautiful drives on windy roads through incredible scenery. Very nice central location and much less expensive than staying in Sedona. We laughed when we first felt the master bedroom mattress because to touch it, it felt very hard; but then when you laid on it, it just cradled you. It was a lovely memory foam mattress that we had never been on before-very comfortable! There was a flat screen TV in the master bedroom and the living room with Dish Network. We loved waking up every morning & looking out the living room sliding glass doors across to the beautiful red rocks and some early mornings could see the Sedona hot air balloons taking off & landing. Stove was gas, which I had never used before, but ended up loving it. Loved the washer & dryer included in unit. There is a Wal-Mart, Frys, Safeway, Food City, Dollar Tree & Walgreens and many fast food chains & some restaurants (we did not try many, but ate at the house) all within a mile or two of the house. Directions; entry/exit instructions; wifi & passwords and contact info all provided in detail & encountered no problems & had a lovely stay. Thanks for sharing your home in a beautiful location.
Good stay, but could use a few updates
We enjoyed our time, but found the layout to be odd. We were two adult friends and ordinarily would have taken the two rooms with queen beds. We did not expect them to be on opposite sides of the house. The second room near the kitchen has only a toilet for a bathroom, but there are two full bathrooms on the other side of the house. I ended up choosing the bunkbed room to be closer to a full bath. We did notice that the kitchen was a little grungy; silverware and glassware were ancient and didn't seem very clean. The kitchen cabinets that had been painted red were very sticky. Everything worked just fine and we had no issues except for the horrific mosquitos on the deck. We really couldn't sit outside at all.
We arrived to a hot house, the owner called a repairman and it got better, but only at night around1 or 2 in the morning, so at least we got some sleep, cold water pressure was almost non existent and ants were all over the kitchen cabinets. Everything just seemed cluttered. Enjoyed Cottonwood and Sedona, beautiful country.
From the Red Rocks of Sedona to Mingus Mountains of Jerome, accessibility is at its peak in this community well known for its attraction of tourists and families looking for a peaceful place to vacation. The Verde River flows through the town and the home is very close to its riparian habitat along the Verde River Watershed, which attracts nearly a third of the 900 species of birds in the United States and Canada—from the miniature hummingbird to broad-winged raptors. Many of these birds can be seen right from the home's backyard deck!
Cottonwood is bordered on the south, east and west by high mountains and on the north by mesas and buttes. Arizona’s Verde Valley is home to numerous National Monuments, State Parks and National Forests. At an elevation of 3,300 feet above sea level, this high desert enjoys all four seasons with comfortable weather year round.
Other Activities: state parks, river swimming, spas, 4-wheel riding, jeep rentals, art galleries, casino, indian ruins, archeology, geology, out of Africa Park
