My wife and I enjoyed a lovely two-night stay. The location was perfect and our host Rose was very accommodating. This is a great option for anyone looking to avoid the typical hotel stay and feel more a part of the city and it's locals.
Great little garden apartment downtown but enough off the beaten path that it's quiet. Only half a mile from River Street, so totally easy to walk where you need to go. The owner Rose is upstairs and very nice. Decor is indeed charming...brick walls, wood accents, and a comfy bed. What more do you need? Will definitely stay here again.
Rose was a gracious hostess and we had a great time in Savannah.
What a wonderful time in a beautiful city. We found a wonderful basement apartment in the historic district at the last minute. Our host Rose responded quickly and met us when we arrived in town. We loved the apartment and the amenities- much better than any hotel rooms that were available. We cannot wait to return for another visit.
Charming! Yes, the house and its owner. This beautiful home is along one of the many gorgeous tree lined streets of Savannah. The furnishings and decor are one of kind that makes the home even more enchanting. The property was clean and attractive. The bed was very comfortable and perfect for anyone needing rest. We did utilize the kitchen for some small prep, but ultimately the abundance of good restaurants and beautiful weather kept us outside and on the streets for our meals.
We brought our bikes along and found out that it's a great way to get around the town. Bay Street, River Street, Forsyth Park, or City Market were a very easy ride (except for the bricks and cobblestones). We had a convenient secure courtyard to stow them. Most of Savannah is within walking distance from this location or there are many pedi-cabs available to get you to where you need to go. There were quite a few excellent restaurants nearby. We enjoyed morning coffee on the patio or walked over to Troup Square with it and sat upon a bench.
The "sidewalk chalk" art festival at Forsyth Park on Saturday was very enjoyable. Sponsored by SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), we went there in the morning as the artists were in the early stages of their designs. We went back later in the afternoon when the works were complete; awesome! Too bad the most of the art was unnaturally washed off by lunchtime the next day.
Tybee Island was a short easy drive from this location if you want to go to the beach or nearby lighthouse. Unfortunately, filming was taking place for "Baywatch", so the pier and most of the beach were closed off. We had a good lunch and cold beverages at Sting Rays even though friends kept telling us to go to The Crab Shack just outside of town.
The owner, Rose, responded promptly to all of our requests and provided some insight on what to visit while in town. She was kind enough to give us the history on the property and its architecture. I would highly recommend this place for any couple wanting to visit Savannah. I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation and would love to visit with Rose again. Thanks, Rose !
Rose has a wonderful space right in the middle of Savannah. She met us right out front, showed us around the building and even offered some outstanding dining advice. We seemed to be 1/2 mile or less to _everything_! It was great! We parked out front and really didn't have to drive at all the rest of the trip.
