We stayed in June with Caroline and Doug (see their review also) and others. Ditto on everything they say. We are already scheming further vacations around this rental! It was a pleasure to stay there. One of things I most appreciated was the ease of finding backups for all the essentials: toilet paper, paper towels, etc. There were plenty of high quality linens available. The kitchen was fully equipped - we made a game of trying to name something that wasn't available and couldn't. All dishes and cooking pans were of really high quality. I would add that Forest Grove is central to Portland, Mount Hood, the coast, Columbia River Gorge, Multnomah Falls, and Sauvie Island. Forest Grove also has wineries to tour, a sake distillery, farmers markets, and all the stores you need for your basics. Sorry we can't add to the reataurant list: the kitchen was so fabulous that we cooked most of our meals in! Emily was a pleasure to deal with, easy to reach, and damage deposit was returned promptly. The wi fi was a treat - worked everywhere in the house. I have absolutely nothing negative to to say about our stay there! (But my husband says it rained once!)
Lone Fir was just the right fit for our three-generation family vacation; the house itself is lovely, fitting Grammie's taste to a "Tea", with plenty of bedrooms and space for kids from age 2 thru 55; I covet the kitchen, pantry, and surprisingly sound-proof laundry room (3 sets of wet tennis shoes after a snow adventure, and could barely hear anything in the next room); everything is stocked for the guests' convenience- I dare you to find any missing gadget in the kitchen! We were even able to put the gas grill and fire pit to use despite the rain, when Great-Grammie came over for dinner and s'mores.
The location is quiet and almost rural, but still close enough to enjoy the city amenities within 30 minutes. I look forward to coming again when we visit family in the Portland area
All the comforts of home are here. The Lone Fir Victorian is clean and well-maintained, and Emily (the property manager) is so kind and easy to work with!! We arrived late in the evening, and she stocked the kitchen so we wouldn't have to worry about breakfast in the morning. Whatever we needed, we found available. Lots of room for the family, so next time, we're bringing the kids. :)
We stayed at this beautiful, historic home at the end of July 2016, into the first part of August. We had grandparents, and kids staying all together in plenty of space to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday (she's a student at Pacific). All she wanted for her birthday was family time, home cooked meals and her great grandma's apple dumplings fresh from the oven. This home had a spacious kitchen with everything we needed, a big yard for all her friends to come and enjoy a BBQ with us, and plenty of nooks for the less social to escape to. We felt like it was truly a home away from home, and Emily (the property manager) could not have been easier to work with! She made our stay easy to book, easy to secure once we arrived, and check out was simple and efficient. We will definitely be booking again if its available. We really appreciated the ability to have priceless family time at a reasonable rate, as well. I also liked the fact there was a downstairs bedroom and bathroom for those who could not do stairs as easily. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home!
Our stay at this lovely home was wonderful. The home was well equipped with everything we needed. The perfect location for us near family, and fun. Everything was lovely, clean and well stocked, and the album in the parlor offered a nice history of the home. Emily was great to work with and so pleasant and accommodating. Maggie's Buns, Pac Thai and 22nd St Station are great places to eat. The Kama'aina restaurant was delicious. The only upgrade I would suggest is maybe a new grill, it works but hard to light and adjust the temps.
What a cute place! Decorated beautifully and had room for all our travelers. Equipment for cooking and washing was available. This really helped us. Located close to our family in Forest Grove and the College. Wish we could have stayed longer. THANK YOU for sharing your home.
Forest Grove is between big cities and the coast, with wineries, a university, a national car show, a lake, and lots of farmland surrounding it.
Other Activities: 1+ hour away from beaches, 30 min away from Portland City Center Shopping. Also 5 minutes to Pacific University.
Golf: Forest Hills Golf Course is very close by, also near is Killarney West and Sunset Grove Golf Courses. Other golf courses in Hillsboro are pretty close, too.
